I recently bought these to replace my second worn out pair of x ultra 3 gtx which l loved to bits. Was very much looking forward to the latest model in this shoe but have been very disappointed. They are uncomfortable to the point where I can no longer wear them. The upper seems much more rigid and inflexible causing pressure points over over my big toe joints in particular. The toe box also seems to be wider as well as the heel cup and I'm now experiencing heel slippage for the first time in a size 9 quick lace Salomon trail shoe and I've been using them for 10 years plus now. It's impossible to eradicate this by tightening the laces even to the point where it causes discomfort elsewhere over my foot. In summary the x ultra 4 seems to have entirely lost that glove like comfort and fit which was the very best thing about the x ultra 3. I would very much like to exchange them for a pair of x the old model please

Bought these online and used them for an hour today. When I took them off both my ankles had the skin rubbed off on the sides. After checking other reviews this seems to be common - likely because of the high sides. Contacted customer service and requested an exchange or refund, was told they don't take back used shoes and I should try to trade or sell them. Guess I will go back to another brand.

I took these on 2 hikes and i gotta say they are uncomfortable. Grip and protection are all there but comfort wise these things are a 1 star. My ankle bone gets cut up by the opening of the shoe. I dont know maybe its just my feet.

Great for narrow feet like mine, but order at least 1/2 size larger. Having said that - these shoes were awful. Designed for people with super high arches, also this pair had a defect were the material just above where it meets the rubber at the instep was bulging inward so a hard knot was pressing against my instep. Not a break-in issue - just painfully bad workmanship. Very disappointing.

these seem pretty good feet seem to stay dry and comfortable but still prefer my x ultra 3 they seem to be more comfortable than the 4

Bought my first pair of Salomon not knowing how comfortable they would be. They're comfortable but at the same time they're not either. They hit me in the arch of the right foot on the left side of my right foot and I've noticed there not really breaking in to make it more comfortable. Must be how the boot/ shoe is designed. Other than that they seem like a decent shoe and they look great. Just not to sure if I'd purchase again.

This is one of the best shoes I've ever put on. It's comfortable, light and feels great. I've bought this and Spreedcross 6's recently and I'll forever were Salomons from now on.

I came from the Ultra 3 after finding them on my quest for the ultimate hiker all round year shoe. Winter, water, rocks, ice, hot, cold. There has been others but over the years the choices kept getting cut back from other companies. Happy to have found the Ultra. Some reviews has mentioned slight changes to the design from the 3 to 4. I did notice such change. Being a hair more narrow feeling but not enough to stretch into and still a nice feeling fit. Sad the 4 didnt have a leather option like the 3. For stretch or longevity. But shouldnt matter besides preference. Testing the shoe compared to my old one for ice traction on ice under worst conditions, fresh melting ice covered in water, and brand new show maybe with a coating making it smoother for a few walks, the 4 only feels slightly less grippy to my 3. Well within justifiable. And falling isnt a risk. Just a little bit less resistence until the larger "teeth" grip something. Still very happy and close to my 3. And the differences might just fill in over time.

X ULTRA 4 GORE-TEX looks good. recommend this product to a friend

These shoes are very comfortable, light weight and are probably the best shoe I've bought Very pleased and highly recommend

Very happy with the performance. Quality is as expected.

Bought a pair for my partner but they were too small for him so I tried them on and they fitted perfectly! Definitely need to go one size up from normal size - as instructed!! They have really helped us with his bad ankle and my dodgy knees. Also they are easy to put on and off and are really comfortable without socks too. We live on a narrowboat so they're perfect for us in every way.

Great fit. I wear a 9-1/2 D and got a 10 in these. Also, excellent support all around. I am wearing these all year 'round in Minnesota with no issues at all.

Comfortable from first wear. Appear sturdy. I'd recommend sizing up if between sizes.

Had a pair that leaked Salomon replaced them and have worn them almost every day since then. My wife has gone through 4 pair of other brands in the same time frame. Just bought her a pair. These shoes are light and durable.
