Salomon shoes in the past have been fantastic for people who have long slender feet, like me. The sense ride 4 was given significantly more volume to fit a wider range of people's feet, which from a business perspective makes sense. Unfortunately, that extra volume led to a popping sound every time I took a step because of how much I had to lace down the shoes. I'm very disappointed they didn't choose to go with a regular and a wide version instead of making a catch-all version that doesn't work with their traditional fit.

After running three pairs of Sense Ride 2 (and three other pairs with my family members still on the trails) and being absolutely satisfied with them (excellent shoe!) I have decided to upgrade to Sense Ride 4... but for me it was to downgrade: strange clicking noise when walking, too large comparing with the Sense Ride 2 and the pocket for the laces is too low under the laces so no wonder that some other reviewers report tearing off the loop. So, I hope the clicking will stop, I wear thick winter socks (taking it positively - extra cushionning during summer) and I try to develop a process to get the laces in their little pockets. For running... it is still excellent shoe.

Salomon continue to have a very random last sizing. Some shoes fit well, others marked as the exact same size are substantially narrower and shorter. Frustrating - thank goodness for free returns

I love the Sense Ride 3. Perfect fit. I typically go up 1 size for my running shoes but with Salomon, I only need a 1/2 size increase. My last "perfect fit" pair of shoes were a size 12. On the Sense Ride 4, they look and feel as if they were 12.5. The 11.5 were too small. It seems like the Sense Ride 4 just miss it on these shoes. Had to return them after sending for 3 different pairs... same issue.

Bought these just over a month ago, very comfortable right out of the box! After about 2 weeks, shoes started clicking and the footbed liner has started slipping. Disappointed with the quality for what otherwise would have been my daily go to.

I have the same clicking noise while walking with this version as someone else reported. Definitely liked the 3 version better, something about the build quality with the 4 is off. Disappointed.

Just tried them on and there's an annoying snapping, clicking sound that comes from the top of the toe box where it flexes. Had no such issue with the Sense Ride 3. Perhaps due to a stiffer upper material? I would take them for a run to see if they soften but then if the noise continues I have the hassle of trying to return shoes that have been worn. Disappointing!

New pair has same problem as the pair I just sent back. Many other reviews describing the same flaw. Been running on Salomons for years, and their quality control obviously has declined.

I've been wearing the sense ride 3 for the last year. So when my current pair of SR3s started to wear out I purchased the SR4s. I've tried wearing them around the house to get the feel for them, but the upper on the left shoe seems to be rubbing my instep quite a lot. As noted in previous reviews, the uppers are making a strange clicking/ popping upon stepping. If you like the SR3 stick with them. The SR4 has not been good to me.

I bought them less than two weeks ago. Unfortunately, during my 4th run in these new shoes, one of the "eyelets" got ripped out its place. Looks like a poor stitching. I had a pair of previous model - Sense Ride 3 - and, although they worn out sooner than I expected, I liked them

The loop on the lace garage tore off when trying on the shoe for the first time. Extremely disappointed as I have have worn the Sense Ride previous models without any issues.

The finger loop on the "lace garage" or what have you ripped off just from using it to stuff the lace inside. While this doesn't affect how they run, which is yet to be seen, I find this unacceptable for a brand new shoe and is a horrible sign for future durability. This is my first Salomon and likely my last.

I needed a pair of shoes that I can take almost everywhere without thinking much about the terrain. Sense Ride does the job very well. They are not perfect for very technical terrain but they will still get the job done if that is the only pair you have. I used them for 2 weeks straight in different kind of trails - road, rocky, muddy, gravel. They did very well. Not disappointed with Salomon.

They provide good grip and were comfortable for hikes and walks in Yosemite National Park. I really like the color and how light weight they are. I did buy these in a Men's size and I am typically a W size 8.5-9 so they are just a little bit big. But I don't mind as they are comfortable for wide feet. The only part that's hard for me is the laces/cord and how to secure it.

Used for a couple 50k races and a marathon and held up wonderfully. Probably put 800km on the pair before relegating them to hikers/walkers. These are my daily runners.

I purchased these about six months ago but just recently took them out of the box now that the weather is warming up. So far I love them very comfortable right out the box. All around great fit for my foot no rubbing whatsoever. The only complaint is the tongue part does slide down a little bit. I did change the insole for higher arch. Cannot rate durability yet due to only wearing them for a week now.

Have had a couple versions of the Sense Ride and the 4 is my favorite. The fit is perfect and very comfortable. All of my Sense Ride shoes have been very durable, the sole lasts a long time. Usually the first thing to wear out is the top of the heel cup but that takes a while. Only complaint I have with the 4 is the tongue tends to slide down a little but not so much that it's uncomfortable.

Overall, for this pricepoint it may be the best all-round shoe. Something you can use as your daily walker, and then go straight to technical terrain. Great traction. Balance seems good but I haven't taken it to the trails yet. Seems well made technically and durable, hopefully the lugs don't wear out from everyday wear but they probably will in a year or two of walking on pavement (which is normal.) + Looks great. The lace system is good but its not exactly "quick". The shoe is a little stiff out of the box, has to be worn for a few weeks, which is surprising since it doesn't have a rock plate, I was hoping it would be a little softer but you trade durability when its too soft. I got +1 size and the fit is as expected.

I bought these the sense ride 4's about a month ago and have put on about 67KM of running to date. I bought these shoes for the similarities to the speedcross (another favorite) but was extremely impressed by how light they were when I picked them up, I was skeptical that durability was sacrificed, but so far I have not found that the case. The light weight is great for higher mileage runs without fatiguing the legs, the foot has support, but as described a neutral support leaving you with a very natural feel. I will be putting these and the two other pairs I subsequently bought to the ultimate test this year, on several ultramarathons.
