Great day pack for light day trip. The lack of back support makes the bag more flexible, but if you plan on carrying more than a few pounds not the bag for you.

The only thing I would change is I would probably put a pocket underneath the lid but other than that best travel pack I've ever had

London, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Costa Rica. Best pack ever made. Super light weight. Just enough padding without overdoing it. My sunburned shoulders appreciated it. Compartments perfect size to hold passports and small wallets. Side pouch holds large water bottle and you can sinch it tighter for smaller bottle's. Clips were there should be. Zippers are great quality. Material dries fast. Washes great. Worth every single penny. We also traveled with a similar size Patagonia.. can't even compare the two. This backpack is a million times better.

This is NOT a packable backpack. By that I mean it is too big to be considered that. This is actually good, very good in fact. The quality of materials and construction make it a bit big. Also returning it to it's "pack" would be difficult and eventually probably would damage the pack. It looks great, well thought out and constructed. The size seems just right and the shoulder straps should be fine. I plan to leave it flat in my travel stuff or just stuff it.

Bought the In and Out 22 during the Black Friday Sale, happened to receive a link to it in an email, I have no idea where it is on the site. They definitely need to market this one more. I'm so glad I got that email because this bag checks a lot of boxes for me that other bags don't. First off, it's the most packable bag I've ever owned, it stuffs into its own pocket when space is at a premium. But because of that, there is no padding, support, or frame, which for me is okay for shorter hikes or walks around town with the kids. I've carried groceries home in it, so it's already saved me 10 cents! It's the only grocery bag I can actually remember... Also did a 5 mile hike in it carrying a nalgene, headlamp, gloves, extra layers, bag of gorp, stuff for the dog, and had room to spare. I had to place items intentionally for that long since, again, there is no padding or support, but it did great. Will also be my concert bag now since it is primarily just the one big opening. I think it will also be my summit bag but need to get more miles on it first. Love the water bottle pocket on the side and the front shove it pocket, I think those pockets should be mandatory on all bags. Also loaded with cinch straps and daisy chains for more hauling capability. I suppose my only complaint is the buckles for the top lid are very small and kind of hard to open with gloves on, but I understand why they are that size for packability. Also won't be using it to commute with laptop/tablet as there is no padding. Like I said, this bag is great for what it is, and I'm excited to find more excuses to use it.

Many of the adventure trips that I lead entail a 12-15 mile hike to a pack drop. I got the IN and OUT 22 for this purpose, and it worked perfectly. Very sturdy day pack and spacious for all the gear that I need for a long day getting 8 to 10 people up the mountain. The way it packs down into its external pocket enables me to put it in my backpack for the rest of the trip, as well as take it out for summits and day hikes to alpine lakes. This is the best day pack that I have ever had. I highly recommend it to all my participants.

In and Out 22 is an excellent backpack that perfectly suits my needs. After comparing it to the Hyperlight Mountain Gear Elevate 22, I decided to return the Elevate 22 and keep the In and Out 22. This backpack is lightweight, versatile, and offers great compartmentalization and features. With the added benefit of a lifetime warranty, Mystery Ranch has truly delivered a reliable companion for outdoor adventures. Thank you, Mystery Ranch, for providing a reliable and functional backpack that meets the needs of outdoor enthusiasts everywhere.

This will go inside of my Bridger backpack, when doing multiple nights where base camp stays the same. I'll use it for day hikes. Not as compact as I hoped, but has a lot more features than I expected too. It's overbuilt like all MR products...which is good. I loaded 15 pounds in it and took it for a day hike. Worked out great !

This is a fabulous travel bag! It stuffs into its own satchel into an impossibly small size. Once expanded, it's the perfect day pack and has plenty of pockets and smart storage solutions for a day on the trail.

Bought this for a trip to Europe for day trips/hiking. I have been using it in preparation for traveling to make sure it will serve my nees. I have tried several other packs and for all the features, looks and most of all the way it feels while hiking....it has exceeded my expectations. I have only used it for a few weeks however I am confident it will work perfectly.

I've began using Dana products 35 years ago, and the quality is the main reason I chose next gen Mystery Ranch to outfit our guests for an African safari. The In and Out 22 is super lightweight yet surprisingly rugged, and the perfect size for our cameras, binos, hydration and a light to mid-weight jacketand it comes in great colors, too.

I bought this with the intention of using it as the packable bag that goes in the carry on roller bag for use on the other side of air travel, but honestly I haven't stopped using it. The access to the main compartment is great, and the zippered pockets are the right size to accommodate everything I want to pack in it. I wouldn't put a lot of weight in it given the thinness of the straps, but it'll hold the snacks and the puffy and a liter easily. The color is absurd and it gives me joy.

I bought this hiking daypack about a month ago and recently used for a week in Banff, Canada. This pack worked perfectly for light excursions and was fully capable of carrying all needed items needed to hike in the canadian rockies.

I bought this pack about a month ago, and after a few trips, it's great. It's exactly what it says it is, if you need a smaller pack with some room, a few pockets, and accessory loops or buckles, this one's just right. If your going to be In and Out in half a day or so, its just right for me

Always struggled with an option for a day pack when backpacking. Tried everything. This is the answer. Hauls enough for 2 people to summit and super comfortable. Surprised how well it protected my gear in a rainstorm.

I travel a lot using carry on only for anywhere from 3 day to month-long trips. I use a large backpack as my overhead luggage and carry my podcasting gear as my personal item. This bag is perfect to bring along clipped to the outside of my big backpack, then deploy when I get where I'm going to use for every day carry. When home, this has now replaced an old osprey bag as my go to everyday carry as well when I'm out in town. I owned the previous, smaller version of this as well and this is a huge upgrade. I've never used a drawstring bag before and I actually find I like it a little better than the zipper, the size is better, and the side waterbottle pocket is still tight but actually usable for my Nalgene. This bag is built like a freaking tank unlike most compressible bags and I look forward to using it for basically the rest of my life

Just took this pack out for a light two hour hike. I put an osprey 2L water bag in it. My husband has a huge tactical backpack that he usually takes out and I can't carry it. This pack was perfect for me, lightweight, comfortable, and secure. I really liked carrying it and can't wait to try something more intensive. The strap across the chest was nice for me but I'm not sure how it would work for someone with a larger chest. I am glad I got this 22L size pack over the size smaller. Fit the water bag, sandals, snacks, and dog supplies. I am really happy with my purchase.

This is a great pack! I use it as a daypack when traveling and as a edc pack when I want to carry less stuff. Great and light construction but at the same time it carries as a "real" pack.

I used this on a Cape Buffalo hunt in Africa. It was exactly what I needed! Plenty of room for everything and didn't weigh me down.

I bought this a little more than a month ago. I held off from writing a review until I had a chance to actually use the bag. So far I have worn this bag on a handful of 5+ mile walk/run with the wife and dogs, and it has performed better than expected. I havent put more than 20lbs in it, most of the time it has 10 to 15 lbs in it and does fine. I have also had maybe 5 lbs in it and a full nalgene in the side pouch and it didnt lean hard to the side with the water, it felt surprisingly evenly weighted on my back for me having loaded it so lopsided. I live in Florida and sweat alot, when I get back to the truck after a run or hike the sweat was dripping off the bottom of the bag. I checked inside the bag to see if sweat had made it through the bag and got the contents of the bag wet, it was dry as a bone. When I used a 18L bag of similar design for the past 8 years the contents always got wet. I'm so glad I upgraded. I wont be looking back. I was originally wary about it not having a waist belt but it rides high and stays put while I am running with the dogs.
