I don't know what "weather-resistant" means but it definitely does not mean water-proof. I bought these to hike around the often-wet fields of our dog park. The first day I wore them my feet were wet in spots; now a few months later my feet are always wet all over. Other than that, they are really great: comfortable, well-constructed, lightweight, good-looking...

Old versions much better, Toe box is incredibly stiff. Please bring back gaiter trap attachment, it's ridiculous that it was removed

I thought that all Altra trail shoes had GaiterTrap, which has been really useful with my earlier model of this shoe. Without a gaiter, it makes no difference whether the shoe itself is waterproof, because water and small stones and dirt get in from the top. Very disappointed.

Have always loved the lone peak however the new design has changed. More cushion and easier to take on and off however the sizing has drastically changed. Normally an 8.5 in Altra. The 8.5 was too small and had to reorder for a 9 which also felt too small in length. Maybe they will iron out the kinks as time goes by. Also the laces untie super easy which is annoying compared to the older RSM models.

I love how comfortable these were upon receiving them. Twice, however, I have tripped when the loops on the shoelace ties have hooked on the upper shoelace hooks of the opposite shoe. Once it was upon getting out of the car and I wasn't quite sure what had happened. It seemed to unhook in time for me to regain my balance. But the second time I was walking my dog on the sidewalk and fell directly on my left hip and left forearm. It's been a week now and I still have pain from these injuries. Since then I have purchased shorter shoelaces and plastic cord spring locks so I can tie these without any loops. Not sure what to do about this but definitely wanted buyers to BEWARE.

I was so excited to finally find a pair of hiking boots that didn't pinch my toes and hugged my heel and ankle. These were so very comfortable when I first put them on. Nice a light weight - I did not notice the heat issue - but I have cold feet anyway! I did a moderate 17 mile hike n very hot weather on a very good trail and thought this was love - relationship that would last! However, if you plan on hiking on rocky trails or trails with lots of roots and lots of descent - you might want to think again. I hiked in these this weekend - 11 miles on rocky trail with a good amount of elevation gain and rapid descent. My feet were ok until the next day - realizing how much of a beating they took. The sole is not sturdy enough to handle rugged trails. I am so disappointed and don't know where I will look next for a boot that is sturdy and doesn't pinch!

To squeaky Hi to be honest I had purchased these for a U.K. hike. However, wearing them just for an hour on my land which is a mixture or terrains I new in an instance I didn't feel confident in the boot. For a fashion statement the boot would be lovely. However, this morning I returned the boot. I love your shoes and will continue to wear altra. But not for hiking sorry guys

I was so excited to finally find a hiking boot that fits and I hope they will make this with a harder sole for hiking on rocky trails. I returned them because the sole is too soft for hiking on rocky trails :(.

I have owned at least 8 different styles {sometimes buying multiple shoes of the same model} of Altras over probably 10 years. In the beginning these shoes were amazing! They have always run small so I got used to that, although that makes it hard to find my size 12 (actual size 11). With each year's new models I grow more disappointed. This shoe should have been the best boot purchase ever. Pros: nice looking, hook eyes at the top, good grippy sole, high cushioning midsole & dark color. Cons: NOT waterproof ever, no gaiter trap attachment, sour smell from getting wet & not drying (because of waterproofing attempt) , and a weird popping sound while hiking, although it does seem to have decreased with time. Very disappointed with these shoes, especially with the high price tag. Now just go back & take the upper material of the Lone Peak 3.0, add the gaiter trap attachments, the high cushion midsole & the trail claw tread, the hook eyes and you'll have a great boot. If you can make this shoe waterproof- that would be a great option for some folks too. I am STILL wearing my Olympus 0 or 1.0 shoes & my Lone Peak 2.5 neoshell & LP 3.0 mid boot. So you can see that the quality of materials & construction has steadily declined. It's not too late to redeem this brand, so please listen to your customers (some of us have been around a long time) and we need for you to succeed- our feet need for you to succeed!! I would recommend this new all weather boot BUT, I would do it with full disclosure of the failings.

I really wanted to love these as I've read so many good things about them, esp. for people like me with horrendous foot issues such as plantar's fasciitis, posterior tibial tendonitis, flattening arches and more. These are extremely wide at the top of the shoe, I felt like I had on clown shoes (esp. since I have big feet). The toe box was roomy for sure, but the height between the bottom of the shoe and top of shoe still mashed my foot some. It may have stretched out eventually but they are alot of money for a "maybe". I also am not used to low drop shoes as I mostly have worn Keen, Hoka and Brooks. These just weren't right for me.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks, Keen, Birkenstock, Vionic

I absolutely love the fit for my wide forefoot, narrow heels, and high instep. However, they only resisted water for a short period and are now a sponge, even in dewy grass.

The shoe is fine however the laces are too long and always coming undone m. I bought 2 pairs, one for my daughter and she has tripped multiple times! For the price of the shoe, I expect better laces.

Bought these boots for snow hiking in Colorado and the waterproof seal broke on mile 2. Wet feet/socks the entire trip.

These boots were defective. The left upper was cut or attached incorrectly. The upper bulged out and made a loud, crinkling noise with every step. I do a lot of birding so the noise was a put off.

I probably could have sized down a 1/2 size. Overall they did great in dry conditions. But the moment it rained my feet were soaked, and b\c they are "all-wther" the water didn't drain, so my feet were stuck in a puddle of water until I could empty them. Very disappointed in the "all-wther" capabilities.

The lone peaks fit well and are comfortable but lasted less than 250 miles. When I reached out to customer service about their 300-500 mile warranty they did not honor it. I asked about a recycling program and got a snarky reply with a link to a google search. If Altra won't make a more durable shoe, it would be great to have a recycling program where worn shoes could be returned and hopefully used to make more products.

I own the Lone Peak lows and LOVE them. I assumed I’d love this boot too. I need a weather proof option for winter. I tried the maroon pair and just didn’t like the color. I reordered in gray and the gray pair make a popping noise with every step. There’s absolutely no way I can pay this much for shoes and also listen to this noise every hike I take them on! I don’t remember the maroon pair popping like this as I wore them in my room and hallway to test them. The ‘pop’ actually makes a vibration on the foot plus I have to hear the noise. The pros are that the shoe is insanely comfortable. I feel like I’m wearing an old broken-in house shoe lol I love the neutral sole and the shoe isn’t too bad looking. I guess I could exchange and try the black since this was the last gray pair in my size. I hate to waste the shipping if they also pop and I really don’t want black. Back to the beginning of my search I go. :(

I want to perhaps order half size larger, but only after I receive a refund. My return has not been acknowledged yet.

I originally bought the first run of the Altra all-weather hiking boots. I had to return them under warranty with less than 4 months use because a hole had opened up along the seam of the toe box and sole. They sent me a new pair of the newest version, which were these. They lasted a year, and then I found splits on both shoes at the toe seam, once again. I've also had issues with the "all-weather" aspect of these. I had to go back and verify that I received the waterproof version after my feet got wet going through some very shallow creek crossings (water didn't even go over the toe of the boot). I do love the zero drop heel, wide toe box, and the light weight, but the lack of durability and waterproofing is too much. I'll be going back to Merrell for my next hiking boot.

I have to back what others have said about these boots in their reviews. These are not the slightest bit waterproof; I have soaked my socks walking through dewy grass and leaves with these on. The laces are also thinner than the regular Lone Peak version, and will sometimes catch on the eyelets from the opposite boot when walking. I'm still a fan of the way these fit with the roomy toe box and zero drop heel, but I will have to wait for dry trails to try these for hiking again.

This is my third pair of Altra's and my second pair of Lone Peaks. They fit well but the liner has been changed since my last pair. They now absorb sweat and smell horrendous. Customer service was not helpful and I am disappointed with the direction this brand is going.

Not All-Wthr. Great fit for my wide toes, narrow heel, and high instep. They started off water resistant and then evolved into sponges. Very expensive feet sponges. Even just with dewy grass. I typically like to wear boots for more than a year, so this is a big disappointment. I talked with customer service and because they're described as weather resistant and not water resistant, nothing can be done. Please Altra, make the same pair but with less seams, a more simple design, and actually water resistant or waterproof.

Fabric above big toe joint gets pinched by harder material on either side. Creates holes! And waterproofing poor. Newest design has much more fabric there. Third pair of Lone Peaks.
