Once the shoe was on all was fine. It was difficult to put on. Probably will need a shoe horn to put these on regularly.
I'd also recommend:
My podiatrist recommended these shoe for the zero heel drop. I have another pair of low tops.

I love this hiker. Most comfortable hiker I have ever worn. And they look so good. From dirt to dinner is super spot on. So happy to have found this company.

I love my Altras but how many pairs do I have to order before I get a break in the pricing? I hike 90% rocky terrain and can only get 200+ miles out of a pair. The sole begins to separate from the toe area, and on a couple of pair I had the sole layers separate so I super glued them back in place. All this aside I do love these shoes for everything from my dailies to hiking various terrain.

I tried on the waterproof version of these shoes in-store and loved the cushion but couldn't love the fit. This non water proof model feels like a different (better) shoe, which is/are astoundingly comfortable. I think it comes down to the stiffness of the waterproof material, which is so stiff it changes the shoe - for me at least - for the worse. The fit is true to length and generous in width across the toes, which fits me perfectly. If you have normal shape feet only wide at the toes or across the ball of the foot, I'd bet you'll like the fit. The sole has a distinct drop down heel feel to it, but it is not severe. The arch support is average, which fits me as well. The cushion as mentioned is the creme de la creme and my feel feel like they are on clouds. I've walked, hiked and jogged a bit and they work well all around, tho I'd say they are a decidedly light hiking boot that can grow to make you want more sole stiffness over time on rough terrain. Great for kicking around, or spending time on your feet. NOT water proof, so just plan accordingly.

Size 9 mens, I’m normally a 8.5 or 10Women had to size up 1/2 size. Got the mens hoping for width so far they feel good. Wanted some additional ankle support for a sprain. Got black wish the sole was not white, it’s not going to be clean for long. I’m slowing getting rid of non wide toe box shoes.

Have rucked in these for half a year and really like them. Would love to see a new version of boots like this but with a stronger outer and a steel toe. Less breathable isnt always a bad side effect. Really do appreciate what you guys have here.

A good friend who hikes and trail runs often recommended these to me in order to prepare for the Bataan Memorial Death March. I've always had issues with boot and trail shoes' toe boxes due to my clawed toes and extreme pes cavus that has worsened over the years. The Lone Peaks are extremely comfortable and fit my customized orthotics well enough to leave space for a medium size sock. I've logged about 50 miles in the first 3 weeks and they feel great. The only complaint I have is that they are not organically compatible with Altra's own 2-point Trail Gaiters. You have to attach the adhesive velcro patches to the Hikers to anchor the 2nd point which will surely come undone after any amount of major trails and streams. So in the future iterations I recommend Altra install their Gaiter Trap they have on their other Trail Shoes.

Best hiking shoe I’ve owned. Hiked many national parks and never had any issues or pain unlike many other shoes. Will be buying others.

Got these a week before heading to Mesa Falls, Yellowstone and Glacier Nat'l Parks. Got many, many, many miles on these and they were great! Putting them on this morning was like putting them on several weeks ago when they arrived, and after all the miles they've covered, that hasn't been my experience with other brands. I'm 6'5" and 330lbs, so that weight stepping at some point would wear out a shoe, but not these! Averaged 5.5 miles a day of actual hiking. My initial concern was would these still be good shoes by the time we got to Glacier and they were just as good as the first day! This is my 5th pair of shoes from Altra and I haven't been disappointed with any of them! This hiking version of the lone peak (lone peak hiker) is a great shoe. Has turned into one of my favorites!

Great altra toe box width and very comfy out of the box. I have weak ankles and they work great for stability. I just ran my first 30km in them on some pretty rocky terrain and the bottom of my feet hurt pretty bad near the end. You can for sure feel every rock. However, I had no blisters which was awesome. They're great shoes, just won't be any long distance shoe for me.

For the past 30 years I've been searching for hiking footwear that comfortably covers my size 15 feet. Usually I have to go up a size, if available, but that wasn't necessary with Altra. I returned the 16 hikers I originally ordered and got the 15s. After putting about a hundred miles on them, they are perfectly sized to accommodate swelling feet at the end of a long dail on the trail. As for the foot shape, where have you been all my life. One unexpected benefit of the hiker's all day comfort is that I often cover more trail than expected, and sore feet do not distract me from my surroundings.

I love these. I hiked in them the other day. They are by far the most comfortable hiking shoes I have ever owned. The traction was fantastic, I felt the confidence on slippery slopes. I told my wife she should get a pair of these.

Perfect for skinny angles, narrow feet, but roomy in toe area! I'm 6'4" with size 16 feet. Almost impossible to find a lightweight shoe or boot in my size narrow enough in the ankle but wide in the toe area. I'm ordering another pair!

Best hiking shoe I've ever worn. Very comfortable, excellent protection from sharp rocks, and they look much better than the mid mesh - I wore out 2 pairs. I've always used easy laces but find it unnecessary with the lacing system of these shoes. I hope my pronating doesn't wreck them prematurely.

I am a mid-distance runner, putting up around 40 miles per week. I prefer to run trails but i have weak ankles and am prone to rolling them. I decided to give the lone peak high tops a try and what a difference it has made. The shoe is very light and responsive like you would want in a running shoe but it is also very comfortable and the high to provides a lot of ankle support. it gives me the confidence to run further and harder and to take the more technical trails without the worry of rolling my ankles. the zero drop design provides a very natural feel and makes keeping good form easier. I have been impressed with all the Altra products i have tried but this one really sets the standard. I am looking forward to seeing where these take me.

I'm training to backpack the 486-mile Colorado Trail this summer and the Altra brand was recommended for me to consider due to their comfort, light weight and durability. I typically train 8 to 12 miles several times a week on extremely rugged mountain trails. I'm 6'1'' and weigh 200 lbs. and often hike with a backpack which adds an additional 5 lbs. or so. For the Colorado Trail my pack will be much heavier. My initial hike with the Altra's was about 10 miles on a combination of pavement (to access the trail), gravel, hard-packed dirt trail, rocky trail and light scrambling with lots of elevation gain and loss. The hikers were extremely comfortable out of the box with no break-in required. Although the Lone Peak Hikers are regular width they allowed me to fully splay my toes unlike other brands in which I'd typically need to order a "wide". I did not experience any blisters or discomfort whatsoever on my initial hike. The soles gripped well for all trail and rock conditions and they flexed when needed on the steep rocky sections. I hiked over countless rocks and could not feel them through the soles. The treads are also comfortable on pavement (unlike most hiking boots which have a clunky feel off-trail) which is important for me as I will be hiking into villages along the Colorado Trail from time-to-time and, due to weight considerations, will not have the luxury of carrying backup sneakers. Lastly, I'm prone to plantar fasciitis and often need special inserts and/or foot wraps to prevent injury. I don't feel I'll require either with these boots due to the special cushioning in the soles. The Lone Peak Hiker is an incredible hiking boot and should work phenomenally for most hikers whether casual or hardcore. Therefore, I highly recommend them.

This was perfect. I want it again. Company seems to be going to the dogs. 2019-2022 was perfect. Altra is trying to compete against hiking boots- it can't. Bring this product and this color back.
