After 2 months of daily dog walking to and from a neighborhood dog park, the shoes are no longer water proof. The top of the shoes get wet pretty quickly after few minutes walking on grass field in the morning and my socks got wet. I am very disappointed.

I loved the Redmond II hikers I had, but as I wear them almost everyday to walk my dogs the sole was worn so it was time for a new pair. I am happy to report the new version is as comfortable as the old and the I love the new sole. I went for a hike recently and the trail was dry, steep and slippery in parts and rocky and steep in other parts. The traction was fabulous with my new Redmond's. I never felt like I was going to slip or slide. As for walking the dogs over wet grass and in the rain the waterproofing really works. I highly recommend this hikers.

Love these shoes! The colors are true to the pics online and are just what I was looking for. I usually wear a 9 and am often more comfortable in wide width shoes, so I ordered a 9 wide because I definitely wanted hiking shoes to be comfortable and roomy. These are both! I could have ordered an 8.5 wide or even a 9 regular and been fine, I think, but these are so comfortable I'm keeping them. So if you're in between sizes it's safe to go down not up. And if you're between regular and wide, regular will be ok. But for me the 9 wide are great. The "gum" sole has a little bit of a funky smell at first but it goes away. And they definitely keep water out!

One of my favorite sneakers now. Very comfortable and true to size. It goes with a lot of outfits but I hope to go hiking again soon and look awesome in these. Was obsessed with them for days until I finally had to buy and I highly recommend before the sizes become out of stock which happens to me a lot.

I am a daily walker and do some day hiking as well. I wear a 10 wide. My foot is very wide in the toes but my heel is normal so in most shoes my heel slips out or its too narrow in the front. I usually buy New Balance but they don't seem to have any available. In the past I have bought and returned up to 8 hiking shoes at a time before finding "THE PERFECT " hiking shoe. These are perfect.. waterproof, comfortable and best of all my orthotics fit.

Love these shoes. I have a very wide foot and ordered an 8W. Even wides sometimes pinch, but these are so comfortable. Wore them for 6-7 hours yesterday just to break them in a bit, but I don't know if that was even necessary. Looking forward to hiking in them this weekend.

Very nice hiking shoe. Comfortable. A little bulky though. I returned them and found another pair that were less bulky.

Great waterproof hiker to take to Iceland and Norway! These shoes have a very rounded and high volume toebox which helps accommodate cushioned socks. My former hiking shoes were Keens and the toebox is so shallow I can no longer wear them ! Everything worked well with this shoe and I basically did no breaking in ... I wore them for 2 weeks .. never slipped, never got wet socks...and they are nice and lightweight for summertime hiking. Very happy with this hiker and they were so reasonably priced!! The only negative I can say is that the removable insole was much too hard and stiff for my old feet so I replaced it with SofSoles and that made a huge difference. Thanks Zappos!!

I usually wear a size 5, and have for years. So I ordered these in 5. With socks they were a little too snug. I don't know if they run small or if my feet have changed, and these days I've found that sizes, even within the same brand, are inconsistent. Anway, the 5.5 were perfect. I've worn them indoors and out several times, and they seem very comfortable. There's a slight pressure from the top of the tongue on the right foot against my arch, but that may be just the shape of my foot and I'm thinking it will probably soften up over time. I love the color and I think they'll be good for hiking in Costa Rica, which is why I got them.

These hikers are a bit large, but manageable with the great lacing. They stay secure on my feet, even though they are a little too wide and long. It feels like they may be sized for men. They feel great on rocky trails, and they are waterproof but not hot on my feet. Not insulated, these are for warmer weather hiking with wet spots.

I wanted to love these shoes as Columbia hybrids have been so good to me. But these are simply too heavy. My feet were fatigued after a simple trail walk and I was aware of the shoe throughout the journey. They are heavier than the other Columbia's I have worn so often. I am returning them.

These felt and looked good right out of the box. Good support across the foot and ankle, good width through instep and toe box (I ordered a half size up because W wasn't available). Arch felt cushioned, but not necessarily supported. Heel would be fine for people without narrow heels; however they slipped a bit on me and I couldn't find an alternative loop to tighten them. They would have been fine, but not great. I ended up going with a more expensive but much better fitting North Face shoe.

An okay shoe, comfortable, with good tread. Barely more waterproof than my tennis shoes unfortunately. Ok for light rain, but not for walking in wet grass or heavy rain, soaks through immediately.

Right shoe was a comfortable fit but the left was too narrow. They have nice padding on the heel but no arch support, and the fabric binding the tongue in place bulged inward putting pressure on the top of the foot.

I love Columbia shoes however I was extremely disappointed with the Redmond (supposedly waterproof shoe). I do a lot of hiking and after walking through wet grass, my shoes were so wet that the water seeped through to my to the point where my socks and feet were soaked.....It took days for the shoes to dry out at which point they also stunk.
Do not buy this shoe as it is NOT WATERPROOF and it is a waste of money!

Lightweight, comfy, and (accidentally) field-tested as waterproof. Using the hose I turned the hydrant on directly on my brand new Redmonds. They are definitely waterproof! I wear them all the time hiking with my dogs and they are great.

I'm loving these shoes! I walk a lot every day and my feet get tired. With these, I put on a pair of thick socks and my feet are comfortable all day with good support.

Wore these for a week of hiking in sand, mud and wet rock right out of the box. They kept my feet dry and my body upright in slick conditions.

I recently received my order & am happy with purchase. I have only wore them once so far, but fit was comfortable with thin socks. I am hoping the will stretch just a little, as the next size up would be too long.

This is my second pair of Redmond hiking shoes. Sturdy grip soles, upper keeps my feet dry. Wide fit is comfortable for me.
My only complaint is that they wear quickly in the heel.

These shoes have been comfortable from the moment I put them on, and two years on they are still waterproof! They have been all over the world with me and never failed in the comfort department even after hours on my feet.

After zillions of returns that just didn't feel right for walking, these have finally hit the jackpot! The toe is wide enough and my foot doesn't roll or slide inside the shoe and nothing rubs against my ankle bone. I did remove the added insole (thick and cushy) for regular drugstore insoles and now the shoes fit perfectly. Am going to buy another pair before they discontinue this style.
