I'm a boxer guy, but these are good. I don't like Smartwool plain boxers so I got these. They're keepers.

This is my fifth pair of Smartwool boxer briefs. I definitely prefer this style (regular) over the sport style. The new black marble wash that uses the natural dye gives it a subtle tye-dye kind of look. As someone who prefers simple over flashy, it's a nice touch. Made a sizing error with this pair. Usually I get a L, but ended up with an XL this time. Rather than the more snug fit, they are a bit looser. They feel more like a pair of gym shorts than boxer briefs. So, make sure to check the size chart, and from my experience, don't size up if you're at the upper end of the size. Having owned pairs for a few years, I really like how comfortable these are for a day that may not be. They can be worn all day without getting sweaty or chafing. I know it's not exactly a physically active day, but when I'm having to drive all day, I make sure I grab a pair of these Smartwool boxer briefs as sitting in a seat like that all day can have it's own heat/sweat issues. #SmartwoolLove

These boxer briefs are super comfortable and I love having merino wool against ALL of me. I did notice the leg fabric bunches a small bit upward. It wasn't a torsional bunching so I didn't feel like I needed to adjust it but something more to hold the legs in place could be nice. They work really well for daily wear and for day hiking. I am interested to see how they do on a multi-day backpack trip, which is was I was really looking forward to (given wool's odor-resistant nature). After washing and line drying, I did not notice any shrinking. I also learned after I got them that the waist is stretchy nylon on the outside but lined with wool on the inside. Pretty dang smart. I got the Black Marble Wash color and love that it is a plant-based dye. I recently learned a bit about how much dye typically goes into garments so this is a great first step in steering toward a more sustainable goal. I like these underwear and if they release more that have plant-based dye, I will buy more. #SmartwoolLove

Super comfy. I'd have given 5 stars if it didn't wear out as quickly #SmartwoolLove

I think they may have finally settled on the sizing of these. Earlier this year I bought my regular size (M) and could not believe how small they were. Traded in for "Large" and they were just OK, but still out of proportion. I like the quality of the product so I tried again just last week. Now the "Large" fit very well. They have adjusted the proportion of the shorts and slightly altered the width and size of the waist band. It's much better. OR - I accidentally lucked in to a better production run. It's hard to tell. But the odd sizing issue is a common comment. Still, get one size up unless you want a girdle.

These are the only boxers I wear/own for the past decade. However, once these became a blend they tend to wear out after about a year. They are very durable and seldom get a hole or tear, but they essentially become translucent. They wool gets worn away with time but they nylon shell remains. I don't recall this happening back when the underwear was 100% wool. I'll still keep using them but it's expensive to replace half a 8-10 pairs every year or so. I didn't really notice this until my wife told me she could see my rear right through them.

The fully functional fly adds material and bulk. So does the thicker waistband. I love my older boxer briefs and wanted more before going on a trip. I was sad to see the changes. I'm sure someone else will like them.

Bought for backpacking the Small was too tight, I bought a medium it was too baggy and bunches. Kind of disappointed, I've been a medium in every brand I've ever tried except for these. Very odd. Not pleased at the odd fit.

I will give my honest feedback because I hope the product is improved: This underwear has a fundamental anatomic flaw: if you are not a "boxer guy" like me is probably because you like feeling more supported. "Boxer briefs" are the solution for providing that comfortable hold yet allowing freedom to move. It requires the underwear to have an anatomically designed pouch and, unfortunately, it is not the case for this product. I had to frequently stick my hand in my shorts while hiking to bring myself back in center as I insisted slipping to the left or right. If you are a guy reading this you know how embarrassing and annoying that can be. It is disappointing such a high quality and relatively expensive underwear has failed in such a basic requirement. Perhaps it was my fault as I should have ordered a more fitting size to prevent slipping, but the pouch looks too flat and size may not have made a difference (I am 6 feet / 200 lbs and ordered two pairs XL).

Use on a variety of extended excursions and feels great. The crotch area gets worn through quickly unfortunately and the warranty does not cover normal use. If the product falls apart within the 2 year warranty it should be replaced at this price per underwear. I was disappointed with the warranty department and their response and lack of a response. Your better off buying regular underwear and throwing them out then buying at this price without a warranty that covers the product for the full 2 years.

I want to like these underwear, they were well rated on sites such as outdoor gear lab. however there are some details I find annoying. The waistband lettering collides into itself with apparently no regard, making words such as 'smarwoosmartwool'. Also, I find the fit a bit too loose.

The underwear are very comfortable, with one big caveat, losing them 3 stars. The rear tag is offset from the center of the back, pressed against the left but cheek, and is centered above a scratchy seam. The seam runs the full length of the but cheek, and causes a continual itch.

Bought 9 pairs of these for my fianc over the past 2 years thinking they would last but unfortunately half of them have holes by now. For the price, I would expect them to last a little longer.

Due to a very particular skin condition I bought 6 pairs over the last two years. The material is simply the best I've ever used, warm, soft, quick to dry. Even when they got wet they were still warm and comfortable, which is simply remarkable. The flaw is that they wear through in the crotch much too quickly for such an expensive pair of underwear. 4 of the 6 have become unwearable after less than a year. If i had the money I would wear nothing else, but they last less than a year.

Ordered the Medium and way too snug. Would recommend ordering two sizes up.

I like the fit and feel and look but the fabric in the crotch area looses all the fibers and only a mesh remains. Not serving the purpose why you wear underwear to begin with. I don't overly stress these like bike riding or so. This is not a durable product and for the price tag unacceptable. I replacement by the company would a really be appropriate.

Sizing changed. Tighter fit. Why can't Smartwool stop messing with products that work?

The large size is not suitable for anyone with a waist size above 30 inches, unless you want to cut off your circulation. Technically I am a medium on the SmartWool size guide, but bought the large size to ensure that the waist wouldn't be too tight. I have 3 pairs of the Smartwool long underwear in size medium and all three fit perfectly in the waist, but the boxer briefs in size large are too uncomfortable on my waist to wear. It's a great product otherwise, and if they'd just use the same elastic on the boxer briefs that they use on their long underwear - I'd be a happy camper.

As title suggest they are very comfortable but out of the 7 pair I bought all but one has worn through and are unusable now. Maybe if not used during exercise they would last longer? Average life was less than 6 months and for the price that is pretty bad.

As a smartwool fan I am completely unsatisfied with this purchase. Clearly these are premium products and price points so I expect great fitting, comfortable garments. The product felt great when I first wore it but after a day of "normal" activities I felt the product getting loosing and looser around my thighs. By the end of the day I felt like I was no longer wearing a form-fitting boxer brief and instead something more akin to a diaper loosely hanging around my midsection. No; I would not recommend this product

I bought 7 pairs. Legs always rode up, so I constantly had to pull down, After a little more than a year, the crotch in all the stiped pairs (4) wore out and there is very little elasticity remaining in all pairs.
