So I was really confused on all the reviews regarding sizing. I am always a 10...except with Merrell barefoot styles. I own an old pair of the vapor glove and it was a 10.5 and I can't even fit a thin sock in those. I ordered a 10 in this pair just to see how it felt. I sure wish the purple had come in a 10.5 but I'm in a hurry to find a shoe to take on a backpacking trip and need to get them broken in. I could just about tolerate the 10s barefoot but they'd be a summer shoe as no sock I own could comfortably fit in it. Back they went and I exchanged for the 10.5 in black. Sure enough, the 10.5 was perfect! I love the little extra arch support that the vapor glove didn't have. I recently sprained an ankle so the vapor glove was leaving my foot a little too tired. These new trail gloves are great! I feel like they have a great width to the toe box, the arch support is perfect for me, and the tread is just enough without feeling clunky. I simply cannot hike in clunky boots or typical trail shoes due to the bad ankle. If you think the thick soles and high-top styles help your ankle, you're likely wrong. Letting your foot feel the ground is going to give your righting reactions a better chance to kick in and hopefully help you avoid injury. I have never rolled an ankle in the vapor gloves or these trail gloves. My last accident was actually in a regular hiking shoe I thought I cold pull off. NOPE. Back to the trail glove I go!! If you're on the fence with sizing, definitely go up to the next size but don't be surprised if you need to go up another half size from there. I think this is probably the type of foot giving the complaints about sizing. These do run a true half size small. I also feel like wide feet might be a hit or miss with these. I am on the narrow side of medium width.

The guide said to size half size down, so I did, but the shoes were TINY. The cut is overall more narrow and I think you should be advised to order your true size. I have always been comfortable in a 10.5 in Trail Gloves and the 10 was too small. Sadly there is no 10.5 option so it's a return for me.

These shoes are a great fit for someone with very skinny ankles and a wide toe box. Also, if you have a super high arch, these sneakers literally hug your arch making great support. They are very light weight, durable and flexible. It took me awhile to find a perfect fit for hiking shoes- and this was it! The only issue I had was these sneakers run large, and they were not available on this website in a size 5. I would recommend to size down a half a size to a full size depending on your foot type. Love them, just wish they were available in smaller women's size. A women's size 6 is equal to a women's size 7. (see pic below, black are the Merrell Trail Glove 6 compared to the same size in another brand. SIZE DOWN!!
OVERALL: Best fit for small/narrow ankles, wide toe box, high arch, flexible bendy feet.

I have been wearing this version of barefoot shoe for about 2 years. I started out with the Vapor Glove and the 3 pairs I tried alway had part of the sole peel off within a month. They seemed cheaply made but I still wanted a barefoot shoe so I tried this Trail Glove and it is working out well for me. It has a slight arch which is good for me and is just enough shoe to protect your foot from stones and things on the trail. I highly recommend the Trail Glove 5 and am moving up to the 6 when the 5 is not available. I hope they don't change anything on the shoe.

I've wanted to try barefoot shoes, but most were a lot more than I wanted to pay. I love Merrells though, so I went for Trail Glove. I love them! Kudos to the folks who advised going up a half-size. I usually wear 8.5 or 9 but bought 9.5 in these. They fit great, with the wide toe space I wanted. If I loosen the laces I can wear thin socks. I have bunions on both feet, which can look really bad under mesh. These have patches over the bunion area, which doesn’t rub but disguises the misshapen bone. I only wish I’d bought the purple ones! Great shoes!

This is a great minimalist shoe with a little more sole on the bottom than the Vapor Glove, which I normally wear. It is wide enough to accommodate my wide foot. I use it for gym workouts, trail runs and hanging out. It is a good looking shoe, great tread without a lot of bulk. I'm happy with my purchase!

Very comfortable. This type of shoe allows you to feel the road and engage more of the muscles in your feet and legs.

Wonderful trail runner without a lot of padding. The arch is very supportive but the rest of the shoe is nice and simple. The sole has great grip for hiking as well! I liked them so much I bought the men's version for my partner.

The reviews on sizing are all over the place. I am a 10 but have worn 10.5 in previous trail gloves. These are very different from the trail gloves I got a while back. I guess they are always changing but WOW have they changed a lot lol I would need a half size larger in these as well. The 10 is just too snug. my big toe feels restricted. I LOVE this burlwood color but they’re out of stock in my size :( These look a lot better than my old school shoes but have a far thicker sole. The sole seems much stickier with better tread though. I can’t decide what to do except order the black ones and hope they fit well enough that I don’t stress the color too much. I’d suggest everyone go a half size up. If you want socks at all, you probably want 1/2 to 1 size up. Happy trails! My pic shows my old gloves by these newer ones. The arch is also a bit high for me so I’m just not sure if these will win me over or not. thanks

These were comfortable out of the box, but they were a little long. I’m usually a 10 in most, these felt like a 10.5.

I loved the trail glove 4's- perfect fit, true to size, I bought several pairs. I know a 5 fit too. Bought the 6... terrible. It's larger than the 4, and 5, even though they're both size 6 (see photo) the shoe laces are so awkward and tight, and because it's larger that perfect fit I had is gone. Why change it so much, Merrell?! A 6 should be a 6 and not grow larger with a new model. So now they bend weird around the toe and hurt. Definitely returning these, and sad I'll have to find a new favorite shoe or pay out the butt trying to find the Trail Glove 4's. (Which of course now have limited color choices compared to the 6's.)

I have had every version of pace and trail glove and loved most of them, least of all the one with the attached tongue on one side. While true that these are the least "barefoot" of the bunch, as someone with more mature feet and ankles, I appreciate the support while still maintaining a lightweight shoe.

Why, oh why are these being retired for the sevens?
As soon as I find a fit that I love it gets "improved".
These were perfect and the update is horrible!
PLEASE, PLEASE bring them back(and in a pure classic white)!

My fifth pair - I have walked over 10 miles in NYC on one day with them with no foot pain and have hiked for many hours over hot lava trails on the Big Island with the great tread holding firm - best shoes ever.

This is the 6th pair of Trail Gloves that I have owned. These have a more structured arch than past ones I have owned, but they are just as comfortable as the older models.

At 1st I didn't think that they fit, but I loosened everything up. I love them. I once had a pair of Coach Tennis shoes like these. I wore them out! This is my second pair of Merrill tennis shoes.
