Love the shoe. Not happy with Zappos. I bought these as a gift and sent them to a friend. They were too small. She returned them and asked that my card be credited (the purchaser), due to Zappos not having the size needed. Zappos told her that they wouldn't credit the purchaser and gave her a gift card for the amount. Now I'm out the purchase price, my friend doesn't have shoes, and she has a gift card that isn't worth squat because they don't have the size available. I purchased through Zappos for the very reason they have free returns. No where in my purchase process did it say that I would not be credited if there was a return. I bought her the right size through another vendor. Fit perfect
Great shoes. Crappy communication and customer service by Zappos. I contacted customer service and got no resolution. As far as I'm concerned, they stole my money. They won't get any more!

I have purchased five pairs of these, and I absolutely LOVE them, aside from a serious flaw: within just a few miles of regular walking, the rubber on the inside of the heels begins to collapse. Within a week or two, the collapse is enough to force me to adjust my gait. Soon, the shoes are retired to the lawn-mowing pile. This has been true for every pair, no matter the collor of the rubber. PLEASE address this in a Nova 3I really hate that I am considering moving to another brand, as the shoe is PERFECT otherwise.

I had worn the first version of Nova, and thought it was great, so ordered the Nova 2. Extremely disappointed in the quality of materials...after four wearings the sides on both shoes started to fray and separate from the shoe....very poor quality! They have been returned and I will not repurchase.

I ordered a men's size 10 in this Merrill running/walking/trail shoe. I wear a women's 11, which should be a men's size 9.5, but I have had experience before with men's tennis shoes, and, for some reason, I need to wear a 10 in a man's shoe. They fit soooo marvelously! Comfortable immediately, but the best part is the great tread, firm feel, supportive sole, pleasantly stretchy feel... and that absolute best part are the awesome colors!!! This shoe is delightful in every way...and so comfortable that my husband bought the exact same shoe and size. Now we have matching shoes and can't wait to go for a nice long walk to try them out more fully!!

Falling apart after 35 miles. Would have been better off in regular running shoes.
Outer tread ring flaking off. Front lip peeling off. Absolute garbage unless you are "trail running" on a smooth dirt path. If that's the case I don't need trail runners. I hope the company contacts me because Inhave had there products before and been satisfied. But this is a disaster.

Love the shoes. Wore them next day for a beach job. Fit great, no need to break-in the shoes.

I'm a women who has a hard time finding hiking shoes in wide widths. I tried the original Nova and had to return because they seemed to run a smudge too narrow. I just purchased these and worked out before I tried them on, so my feet would swell. The Nova 2 seems a little wider than the original Nova, which is a good thing for me. Merrell has awesome arch support and my husband swears by them. I am a ladies 8.5W and purchased a Men's 7.5M. Can't wait to take them outside!

Out of the box these shoes had a loose fit with little to no arch support. The standard inserts are extremely thin and pathetic. Replacing them with some decent inserts with arch support, both improved and tightened up the fit making them an acceptable casual shoe. Merrell should be ashamed of putting in such poor inserts. I am keeping these, but would not buy them again.

Bought this shoe recently having read the reviews. At 70 I needed a shoe that would support my feet; allow plenty of upper foot movement and be comfortable in a variety of terrains when out walking the dog. I haven't been disappointed. Would buy again and would recommend. Any chance of additional colour.

No shoe ever meets the "excellent arch support" criteria if you have really arches, but this comes close. It works as an all day shoe for feet that have a hard time standing on hard surfaces all day. It works for jeans and shorts, but doesn't quite make it for chinos, so not a magic shoe that will meet all your needs. But if you have high arches, no shoe really does.

Be specific about your likes and dislikes. How was the fit and size? What does the material feel like? How awesome (or not) do you feel wearing them?

Pretty comfortable shoe but not the best for trail running. Lacks sufficient cushion and energy. Not a bad shoe but not a great shoe.

Nova 2 Wide (JO35561W): Same high quality product suggesting durability, and long wear. There is an inner stretch band that makes the fit both slightly snug and comfortable at the same time. Heel & soul have a heavy tread that portends durability and traction. Not long ago purchased a similar Merrell shoe (JO36305W), same size & wide. It fits a bit looser than the Nova 2 and consequently I think it will give me a longer wear. My wide foot pushes out the sides of the shoe, and in the case of the softer fabrics my toe will find a way to create a hole at the side. That's my only concern for the Nova 2. I rate this a 4.5+, and would recommend for anyone with a not so super wide foot. Two Merrell recommendations. 1) Show the name of the shoe on the inside label. If I want to buy an extra pair I can easily identify it. 2)Provide a heavier fabric inside the shoe down past the little toe to prevent toe exit. Tried to submit photo, w/o success.

I purchased the Merrell Nova 2 hiking shoes to replace an old pair of Merrell Ventilator shoes. I've had the old ones for a long time, and they're very comfortable and I still use them, but I figured the soles are old and I would get better traction with a new pair. I also wanted to get shoes that were a bit less clunky and lighter than the Ventilators, since they tend to be large at my size (men's 12).
Merrell replaced the Ventilator model with the almost identical Moab 2 Ventilator, which I tried out earlier but didn't find to be as comfortable as my old ones. I tried on the Nova 2 at another store and found them to be comfortable and less clunky than my Ventilators, but the store didn't have colors that I liked so I ordered online from Zappo's. I've put several miles on them and they're comfortable, so I'm very happy with them.
When I ordered from Zappos, I used the option to sign in using my Amazon account, which gave me access to additional Prime shipping options. I ordered using Prime shipping, but the order didn't arrive on the scheduled delivery day, and the tracking status a delivery attempt was made (but I know that didn't happen). I contacted Zappos and they immediately sent me a new pair (no charge) and said they would try to cancel the original shipment. The new pair arrived pretty quickly (via UPS, not Amazon), and the old ones never showed up so I guess they went back to Zappos. I was very pleased with Zappos's handling of the shipment issue.

Overall sturdy, comfortable and good looking. My only complaint is that the support foam/rubber under the heel is visible wrinkled from being squished. Although that my be my own fault for wearing them while doing workouts like leg presses. Either way, great shoe so far.

Great trail/running sneakers. Vibram soles are rugged and waterproof with great grip. Stylish as well. Soles can be whitened to keep fresh looking.

I have long been a fan of Merrell shoes, both for general wear and actually outdoor hiking experiences. They are on the of the few shoes I can find that provide the arch support I need out of the box, and they last me a good long time. As an advocate for dark skies and the effort to curb light pollution, when the "Nigh Sky" version of the Nova 2 came out, it was an instant "must purchase" decision. I love the look, plus the have typical Merrell quality. Outstanding show with outstanding appearance.

Definitely good for walking on unleveled terrains (hiking) and just walking normally. Comfortable. I have plantar fasciitis and use these without an insole. Have gotten a lot of compliments based on the looks and color. Would recommend.

Great shoe except the insoles slide back when walking at a brisk pace. They move back and bunch up against the rear of the shoe.

Comfy shoe. Great feel to the arch support. Design-wise it could have been better. The print on the starry night sky portion is low res, and the color palette does not match the picture. Think more violet less blue. It isn't as bad as the moc version in this line, but this could have been a really cool shoe if the design matched the feel.
