This is a great all round jacket for outdoor pursuits when temperatures may fluctuate. Very packable and perfect weight and warmth for pulling on at the summit after a sweaty ascent up the mountain. Also stylish enough to use as an all round jacket for travelling.

I fell in love with this jacket the moment I put it on at the store. I am 5'9" 180lbs and size medium fits me very well. I wear it during cooler weather (spring, cool summer nights, fall) but pretty much everywhere - to work, errands, hiking. It works excellent as a mid layer, but may not be enough for colder winter conditions. Received many compliments on fit and color, I got mine in everglade. Ended up buying one for my wife and she loves hers as well. I have Atom LT Hoodie, Serium SL Hoodie, Beta SL Hybrid shell jacket, but Atom SL is the most versatile one. Highly recommend!!

This is my go to layer when out and about around town. This has been the perfect morning layer for hot days and when you catch a chill after a solid cardio.

I love this jacket. I do everything in it from Backpacking and Climbing to Bartending. I've warn it in the rain and does an ok job of keeping you dry but this piece shines because it is so light weight but gives you a good amount of insulation and blocks the wind. This piece is so amazing I have it in 4 colors. The only gripe I have is that the last one I bought in cypress color size medium definitely fits smaller than the 3 previous ones I own. Not sure if the fit was changed but there is definitely a difference.

It's an unlikely find to have a jacket which is light and breathable enough to be used in the summer, yet provide sufficient warmth when things get a bit chilly in the evenings or cooler days. Yet somehow the atom SL does this.
I have an atom ar, and for those wondering how the sl compairs well it's best to think of them as two very different jackets. Having tried an atom Lt too, I would say the same is true of that one also. The main similarity is fit, and style. The SL is what it says, it's very very light. It has no insulation in the arms or hood, only a light covering of it is found where needed, around the torso. The balance of this means this is a fantastically versatile spring/summer jacket. I'd say in the cooler spring and even autumn months, this is a perfect activity jacket. In hot summer days it's a great thing to have on you when the evening comes and things cool slightly, and it's so light it's no bother carrying. Packing into a bag is easy, this thing squashes down into a ball, but on more casual strolls I've found myself just holding it in my hand, like it was an empty plastic bag, it has no tangible weight.
You can also wear this jacket casually, it's got a fit and style which works well, obviously this is subjective but it's received positive comments from friends.
It's a durable thing too, I caught the sleeve on some nails and while it has caused some minor surface damage, it's not become worse, and on lesser jacket would definitely have torn. When you get the jacket you'll see what I mean it's made such that it's not an easy thing to damage. Highly impressive for such a light layer.
You pay a lot of money but you get what you pay for, a genuinely brilliant item of clothing.

I was looking for a jacket that worked as protection from rain and the chill of San Francisco. I have opportunities to wear this jacket here year round. Moreover, this same jacket can pack well for travel.

This is my first Arc'teryx product and it fits perfectly. The feature I especially like is the way the sleeves just hugs my arms due to the air permeable with stretching side panels. It's light and compact, perfect for fall hiking.

I bought this jacket to use for rock climbing as well as everyday use. I'm 5'8", 140 lbs and bought a small (as with all my other Arcteryx pieces). It definitely has room to layer underneath. The jacket is lightweight and well constructed but the hood is seriously massive. In the end I decided to return it because the fit is a bit looser than I'd like for everyday wear and the large hood is pretty awkward if you don't have a helmet of some sort on. This jacket would be great if I were to dedicate it for technical use only.

I was looking for a lightweight jacket that I could take on a 3 week trip to Europe. We went in summer so it didn't need to be waterproof, just water-resistant. I was also looking for a zipped pockets including inner pocket to keep wallet/passport/etc. The inner pocket did not hold my phone but that was not an issue. I looked all over for such a jacket and could only find the Gamma LT. This is my favorite jacket and I always love throwing it on. Fits well and looks great.

This jacket is the perfect piece for transition seasons when you're unsure of the weather. Super packable this hoody can be thrown over a sweatshirt to keep warm or works as a great insulating piece under a shell. Also works great for causal wear around town. I highly recommend this piece for anyone.

I love this jacket. It fits perfect. I am 5'9" and purchased a large because I don't like my jackets too clingy. I got the lolite and I love the color. This jacket is perfect for every chilly morning or evening.

This jacket is a super lightweight version of the extremely popular Atom jacket.
I am a huge fan of the Atom LT and bought a few of them to wear as they are so versatile. The main drawback is that it's a bit too much insulation for summer.
Enter the Atom SL.
This jacket is perfect for casual wear and can be used for all four seasons. Great for summer nights. Excellent for fall and spring. Will work as a mid-layer for winter.
The jacket is very packable and can easily fit into any backpack. It can even fit into a small crossbody satchel. In addition to the packs easily, it is also water resistant. The DWR application is excellent as with all Arcteryx products.
This is has replaced my Atom LT as my go-to jacket.

Geniales Teil, dass Wetterbedingt genial alleine getragen werden kann, ein wahrer Allrounder. Oder aber als Zwischenschicht bei khlerem, oder nassem Wetter.

I was feeling unsure about buying this initially because I run colder than most people and didn't think it was going to keep warm. It's been great to have on hikes because it's enough wind resistance without over heating if it's trickling or raining. Great to to layer under my gortex if the weather is more intense. I've brought with me climbing to belay and it's spot on. I'm super stoked to have this jacket. It's my spring and summer go to go sure. But I can picture layering it in the fall and winter too.

I'v Been wearing the Atom Sl hoodie for the past 4 years. From low 30s to 60s. Jacket does well during light rain. I had a merino wool lightweight long sleeved shirt with the Arc'teryx Cerium vest under the Adam SL. Temperature 33 F. I was warm hiking through the woods

I'm a 45yr old male, 5'8 and 170lbs and a medium fits well with room to layer.
I like the jacket, but the arms are a few inches longer than I like for casual wear but it fills in better with a hoody or Atom LT underneath.
As many have mentioned the hood is huge but can be cinched down for use without a helmet.
I've used it for cycling and hiking with only a T-shirt in 5-18 degree Celcius but would be cold if you weren't generating heat.
I plan on using it in -10 Celsius conditions snowshoeing with a mid layer and confident it will perform well. DWR works well in light precip and this piece blocks the wind very well too!

I can't say enough about how much I love this jacket. It's extremely light and when I first ordered it, I wasn't sure how much I would wear it. In fact, I wear it all the time! I wore it cross country skiing all winter, I wear it running, hiking, to the store, to pick up my kids... pretty much all the time! It's surprisingly warm given its lightness and super comfortable and well fitting. I don't agree with what the other reviewer said about the lacks of cuffs, I think the sleeves are great.

I am 6ft4 3/4", 178lb, 39.5chest, 32waist. I wear a medium and it just fits in the torso and arms. I can also wear a baselayer and long sleeve underneath.
This material allows for wind transfer, I tend to be warm most of the time so I like it during sport. Just layer up if you need to stand around or sit on the lifts between activity.
I find this material does stretch out a bit larger with wear. I like this because it is fitted to begin with and has now contoured well to my shape and activities.

I had read a lot of great reviews on this jacket and had high expectations for it while I was waiting for it to arrive. Apparently my expectations were not high enough as this jacket is truly an amazing lightweight shell (you hardly feel as if you have it on) that is exactly what I was looking for. I am 5'10" and 160 and normally wear a medium in all jackets and tops and got this one in a medium. It is a perfect fit and what is so great about it is that I can wear it as a single jacket on top of a t-shirt or single long sleeve shirt, but also have any kind of layer under it (I often pair it with the Cerrium SL down hoody) and not feel too tight. It also fits well under a heavier shell. If you buy this jacket you will certainly not be disappointed.

This jacket is my go to in the mid-temp winter weather we have in the Southern US. It is perfect over a sweater for a touch of added warmth in the morning and works well over short sleeves on a warmer winter day. I suspect it will be the only jacket I wear in the fall and spring.

I don't think I'll ever be going back to a fleece. I wear it at camp in the summer, while hiking in cool weather and as a mid-layer for very cold snowboarding. I even end up sleeping in it a lot during shoulder season. I bring it on every single hiking trip and it gets used every time.

This hoody works well in Hong Kong where temperatures fluctuate between 10-20 degrees Celsius in winter. It is warm enough to start a hike with, during breaks or when weather changes unexpectedly. I also wear it when I go grocery shopping or walk my dog. It is just perfect for hiking and daily activities.

This jacket is without a doubt the most versatile piece I own, and was worth every penny I spent on it.
I have owned mine for close to 2 years, and have used it in literally every season. From mornings and evenings in the heat of summer, to part of a layering system for trekking in the snow, and everything in-between.
At first I was suspicious that I would be able to get much use out of it, as it seems too insulated to be a windbreaker, and not insulated enough to supply any significant warmth, but as usual, Arc'teryx hit the nail right on the head, creating something that can be used in far more conditions than either a standard windbreaker or insulated piece.
The only minor nitpick I would have with the jacket, is that the hood is a little bit strange. I would have preferred a hood more like on the Atom LT, (the best hood design on the market in my opinion), or like a running jacket. The hood on the SL seems more suited to use with a helmet or ball cap, whereas my uses usually have me wearing a toque or no hat at all.
In regard to the fit, I often have trouble choosing a size as I am usually between S and M in all clothing (5'11", ~140lbs, long arms). I went for an M, and have had no regrets. It is trim fitting enough that it fits well over a baselayer, but also loose enough that I can wear it over a light fleece if needed.
