I have purchased these shorts in two different colours. As with all of my Arcteryx shorts I knew that if I purchased a size 36 waist they would be the perfect fit. Measurements are that precise in their manufacture but I am not sure how they achieve this. What attracted me to this particular short was the built in belt which is easily adjusted to the amount of Christmas Pudding I have consumed.

I bought these shorts to take on vacation and they were so good I bought a second pair when I got home! A perfect fit on the waste (slim but not too slim) and the leg length is spot on. The quick dry material is very comfortable and perfect for walking, swimming or any physical activity. They're even stylish enough to wear to a bar at night during summer. Thoroughly recommended!

These shorts fit the bill and me to a T. Versatile is a great word for these: pockets, water deflecting, comfortable... Great for a casual night on the town or rummaging through the Backcountry. Get sum!

I own three pairs of these shorts and love them. I'm 5'-10" and 190lbs a d the 36 is my size. I've gone down to 178lbs in the past and have 34" for then. The included belt is a plus and so easy to cinch up when needed. The material is very comfortable with a slight stretch. The pockets are a nice depth and the side zip pocket is perfect for a full wallet. The shorts dry very quickly when wet. Some of the lighter colours can be a bit transparent so be forewarned :-).

I wore these shorts every day during a recent trip to Costa Rica. The 4-way stretch was ideal for hiking and canyoning. Plus, they were also great when walking around without looking too casual.

These are great, every occasion shorts. The 4-way stretch is very comfortable and the pocket on the right leg, with a horizontal zip, helps keep bulky items away from my waist (which I find annoying if driving, flying or have a low riding pack on). Definitely an upgrade to their previous version that had the zipper run vertically, letting things fall out more easily

I purchased two different colors and love these shorts. Absolutely beautiful cut that makes these perfectly stylish for any casual urban outings, and the light weight material is so durable and is good for spring/summer hiking. I am 5'-10" 165lbs, usually wears 33/30, and bought 34/32. It fits great with the built-in belt which is very nice quality in itself. Had to take in inseam couple of inches.
One of the best shorts I have ever owned!!

I purchased this as a birthday gift for our son. Arc'teryx is his favorite brand and quickly pronounced the shorts a 10! He is wearing the shorts every time we see him!

Great to find these shorts after having had the pants. Excellent fit for me and roomy enough for ascents for someone with very developed thighs. The addition of the two back pockets is much needed over the older version. My only change I would make is to add one or both zippers to the back pockets like the side one has. But the lack of zips is not a game changer for me. I will buy another pair soon. 11" seam length is most welcome and hard to find in stretch shorts.
I would not want to buy another pair of shorts that does not have a buckle at this point since you never know when you will need it with slight weight gain or weight loss. This feature has been on top tier cycling shorts for years and it's great to see this on hiking shorts now. Other shorts I have are unwearable now because of the lack of a buckle, I am expecting I will have these shorts for many years just like the pants version. The stretch is amazing and absolutely comfortable in these. The freedom of movement in these shorts is top notch and miles above some other shorts I have. Excellent. 5 stars.

The shorts fit wonderfully, and are true to size. I got the 36 and they are great around the waist and the length is good, too! The built in belt is better than I expected. They are going to see a lot of use, now the warm weather is here!

I am a huge fan of this short for hiking. The built in belt is a treat. Great pocket size and access. I have been hiking the North Vancouver mountains and have never been so happy with a technical short. great sleek fit for hiking movements and still nice enough looking to play 18 holes.

I absolutely love these shorts. I practically lived in them all summer in Colorado - climbing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming - and you can hardly tell the abuse they've been through, that's how durable they are.
The material is light and stretchy and moves with you very easily. It's also water repellent and dries quickly if fully submerged, so great for mid-hike swims.
The side zipper pocket is awesome, the waist belt works great, and the open hand pockets (and now back pockets!) make these one of the best spring/summer adventure shorts on the market.

These shorts are fantastic. They have a zippered pocket nd are light enough for the hottest days. The fabric is nice to the touch and holds up over time. The built in belt is a no brainer. My favorite daily/ trail shorts

What I like: Fabric is durable and breathable with a good balance of stretch when needed. Patterning and fit is great. The integrated belt--it fits perfectly under my overnight backpack hip belt. The buckle held the belt and did not loosen up.
What I would like to see added/changed: Please add another cargo pocket to the other leg--this gives balance to the design and utility to the user. Move the cargo pocket from the front, more to the side of the leg. Currently, whatever is in the pocket presses against the front of your thigh when walking/climbing up an incline. Offer a slightly longer version, similar in length to the discontinued Rampart Long short--the fabric breathes well enough and the added length would offer greater sun protection above the knee, especially when sitting down. Continue offering a light color option to reflect sunlight on summer days above the timberline.
Comment on Fabric: I wore the pant version backpacking in the Chicago Basin in Colorado. When we returned to the car at the end of the trip I changed into clean clothes and noticed the shorts I put on felt warmer than the Lefroy Pants I'd been wearing as we walked to a restaurant to in Durango. In that moment it became very clear just how well the fabric was breathing during the trip. Maybe the best complement I can make is that with the exception of the my phone in the thigh/cargo pocket pushing on my thigh when ascending the 14teeners, I didn't think about the Lefroy.

My last pair of beloved Rampart shorts finally developed a few tears this season and I decided to give these a try as a replacement. Positives - that perfect Arcteryx fit, at least for my frame, the fabric is light, dries quickly and is comfortable to the skin. Negatives - the black color, in full sun, even on a cool day, got quite warm. The appearance of these shorts is also very "formal" - not the relaxed/casual look of the Rampart shorts (although that could be partially due to the black color, should have opted for the now sold out gray). I'd also prefer them a little longer, but I'm 6'4". Overall, though, they're pretty great and should easily outlast any other outdoor gear you have - the Rampart's held up to a decade of hiking/backpacking/scrambling plus quite a bit of daily wear.
