Pros: feels light; plenty of cushion; hugs instep for secure fit, no slipping forward; roomy toe box; tongue longer than Edge model so easier to pull on; increased rocker helps move through stride vs Edge which feels more flat footed. Cons: I don't have any yet. I have about 50 miles on the shoes so too early to know if the sole wears well or not.
For size comparison: I wear a W10 in Clifton, W10.5 in Edge and W10.5 in Carbon X2
I'm 5'8" Wt.123 run 30 plus miles/week, 3 marathons a year. 68 yrs old. I use these weekly on runs of 10 miles and over and the cushion felt adequate for my body weight.

I'm not a runner however these shoes are amazing. I'm in the medical field and I'm on my feet all day. I was unsure about the shoes because of the price however they're totally worth it. I'll definitely be buying more.

I titled this review 50-50. I love the rocker and I love how light weight the shoe is. However The upper is so soft that it allows for lateral movement of the foot. I suppose this could be viewed either way. On the one hand it allows for free movement of the foot within the shoe, but on the other hand if you have a supination issue (which I have) it could be a problem. The toebox is roomy and I usually purchase a wide but did not need it for this shoe.

This is my 3rd pair of Hokas. I generally like Hokas for the extra padding with a history of planter fascitis/ Achilles’ tendon injury and many miles on the feet. These Hokas have a very roomy toe box and are slightly longer than my Hoka one previous pair. I still wear an orthotic but appreciate the cushion. I have very wide feet but medium width Hokas have been a good fit. I recommend Hokas for active walkers with foot pain issues.

I have purchased many of your shoes and not once have I been unsatisfied/dissatisfied!!
I am very happy with all of my purchases.
Sometime ago I sustained an injury to my left foot (plantar fasciitis)while exercising. I did some research online and your "HOKAONEONE" shoe is recommended by many of your customers in helping with the healing process, and this is true personally speaking!!
Thank you SOOOO much for a great shoe!!
A VERY satisfied customer,

These shoes are the perfect balance between lightweight and responsiveness.
The only negative is the insole, very thin and cheap, changed for a slightly thicker urethane insole. Musch better!!

I'm a women's middle distance (800 and 1500m) track coach. I bought 4 pairs for my elite athletes and they've given me rave reviews after 40 miles. They were all wearing Cliftons and they report that turnover is better along with responsiveness in the Carbon X. All of them had to get .5" to a full 1" larger size than they usually run. Only concern is sole my not have enough grip for trail running.

The ultimate runner’s shoe. Breathable material, light weight but still plenty of support, and stylish. I use these for both long (8-10 miles) and short runs (3-5 miles). It works well for both. If you’re looking for a walking shoe I would look elsewhere BUT if you’re looking for a running shoe these are superb.

These are the first shoes I've been able to wear since my 2nd foot / ankle surgery in October! Still a little tight on the left (surgery) foot - but are really helping me relearn to walk. Very lightweight and form fitting, which is great on both feet. Love them!

I'd given up being able to walk without major foot pain, due to bunions. Totally got that back with these shoes! Super grateful!

I have had nothing but great experiences dealing with Hoka as a coach and race director.
They are a great supporter of running at many levels.

I got these 6 months ago and was recovering from an unjustly and was running 2-3.5 miles and these worked well. Now that my injury has healed I'm running 4-6 miles again at a time and just past the 4 mile make the outer parts of my big toes start becoming numb and gets very uncomfortable by mile 5. I thought it was my socks but it is caused by the shoes. I have narrow feet and was surprised to have this happen but if you look at the shape of the toe of the shoe from above they leave much less room to the side of the big toes than any other hoka shoes. I have owned the previous Carbon X and several pairs of Cliftons and never had this issue. I just bought the Mach 4 as they seem to be similar but with a better shaped toe. We shall see. Disappointed.

The box was Hoka, but the shoes were not. Someone had obviously returned a cheaper pair of Brooks. Guess that is why the box was sealed so tightly with tape. Shoes had also been worn outside. I'll bet Zappos can probably figure it out by looking at who ordered both models.

Just bought my second pair of carbon x 2.why mess with perfection?! Great support and comfort. Wide toe-box allows plenty of room for my arthritic toe!

This is one of my favorite shoes. The balance and support is amazing. After having reconstructive foot surgery, I have difficulty finding shoes that provide support. This one hits the mark! Will buy in additional colors.

Very light weight and following two foot / ankle surgeries - these are the first shoes I've been able to wear in about 3 years! Still snug on the surgery foot - but able to get them on and walk comfortably in these - love them!

I've had no plantar fasciitis pain while running with these! I was nervous to start running again due to my PF but marathon training is off to a great start with these shoes.

I was a bit hesitant to try these as I'm still really digging the Carbon X 1. The 1s are my everyday trainers no matter what the mileage/pace so I'm confident I'll transition to the 2s for all my runs once the 1s wear out. I generally race in my Nike Vaporfly Next Percent, but quite honestly, I think both the Carbon X 1 and 2 are just as fast. For a guy, I have a very narrow foot (AA) so I ordered the women's version and it's feels great. The only noticeable difference is I feel the meta-rocker is less pronounced in 2 than in 1 but it isn't dramatic. I miss the pull tab on 1 but I do like the new colorways. All in all, a great follow-up to an already great shoe!

I have 2 pairs that I absolutely love... The comfort is unbelievable!! But, I ended up returning the Carbon X2 because the Mesh kept bunching up in the toe Area..

I own the original carbon X & now the X2. The original ones are very stiff but are awesome for racing 5-10K distances. My current PRs have been in the originals. I prob have about 100 miles on each of the 2 pairs I have and they are both showing tread wear on the bottom already so i do not recommend to use those as trainers since they will wear out quickly (the X2 appears to have the sane exact type of tread as the originals but i've got less than 50 miles on my pair so no signs of wear yet but I cant imagine they will last more than 200-250 miles max). My main complaint with the original was lack of cushion so they were not comfortable for any runs over 10K distance or for slower runs. Enter the X2... which obviously has more cushioning BUT they do not give the same "spring"/energy return as the originals. I cant seem to run as fast in them as the originals so I do not recommend them as a short race day shoe. I wore them on a recent 10 mile run to see if they would be a good to run my half next month in & Im disappointed to say that I dont think they are a good long-distance shoe either. The cushioning is not enough to provide long-distance comfort & the carbon plate did not seem to provide any speed advantage to me for the long run. My pace was pretty much exactly the same as when I wear non-carbon-plated shoes. I think they are good for short or medium distance tempo runs where you are wanting moderate (but not full) speed & some cushioning.

This is my first pair of Hoka running shoes, and I am in love with them. Probably won't run or race in any other style. I trained in these for my Spring Triathlon, and found that they eased pain in my knees. Ample support, and great for long and short runs. I raced in these as well. My only downfall is that I have very skinny, narrow feet. These are a bit wide, but suit my foot nonetheless.

Super cute and comfortable. They are just as beautiful in person as they were online. So happy with the purchase. Plenty of room in the toe box (not a single blister!), and no annoying shoe laces that untie themselves. Good a amount of cushion and arch support for my feet.

I have to say these sneakers make running/walking feel so much better. For a girl who loves to run/walk for distance, with a high arch and bunions these sneakers are perfect for me! They in a way rock your foot when you walk, which is great, and elevate my workouts! So happy with my purchase!

So far so good. These have been responsive and cushioned enough for indoor track work and I just completed my first hill workout in these. Although they didn't have much traction in a dusting of snow, I like how they feel and perform when the road is clear and dry.
