The Good (5 stars)
- these are by far the most comfortable hiking boots I have ever worn. Out of the box I hiked a rugged, rooty, steep 9 miles. Since then I hiked 15+ miles at 15 degreesF with 3500 elevation gain and my feet were warm and comfortable with a light wool hiking sock.
My ankles are supported and comfortable. My plantar fascitis and bone spurs remain pain free. I have hiked both with a 35pound overnight pack and as day hike. Awesome for both, even on steep, slippery terrain.
The Bad (0 stars)
- not the remotest bit waterproof. Like, not at ALL. The third time I wore them, for a stroll from home after rain so the grass was wet within a mile my feet were soaked. Completely soaked.
This week we hiked up to a ridge where there was about 2" snow, again - feet completely soaked.
I wish I had chosen the cheaper non-WP version as 1) I would have saved $$ and 2) they would dry out faster after becoming wet sponges.
I wish

Crazy comfortable hiking boots. These are the only shoes that have not given me blisters. The quality of either workmanship or design is poor. I wore them for the first time hiking a 14 ner in Colorado and we hiked 15 miles. When the hike was over I noticed the boot was falling apart. Not at the sole, but where the toe flexes in the toe box. Both shoes have fallen apart the same area. I LOVE the boots, but am hesitant to buy another pair. I hope they fix this problem and if so, I would buy these again. Not great in wet weather.

Felt like the ankle-high feature just plopped onto the running shoe.
Didn't feel sturdy enough to handle hiking more than easy soft-dirt trails.
Didn't like the lacing...not able to easily lace up.
Love love love my other Topos; regretted sending these back. I've hiked over 2,000 miles in Europe, so I'm quite familiar with hiking footwear. Keep at it Topo... Thanks.

These are the most comfortable hiking boots I have ever owned. There was no break-in time. I don't need special inserts to make them work. These hiking boots have recently made it up Black Elk Peak, through the Badlands, along Spearfish Canyon and Big and Little Kennesaw (diverse range of topography).

The shoes are very comfortable. I use them for walking rather than running. The arch support is wonderful. Would prefer that they were taller. Double knotting when tying keeps them snug around the ankles - otherwise potential for rubbing on ankle. Happy with my purchase and Zappo’s great service!

I have been hiking in these for three weeks and I'm in love. Zero break in time! The only time my feet get wet is when snow gets in through the top of the shoe, the boot itself is completely sealed. The nice wide toe box is so nice! I have a narrow heel, so i really have to cinch because i ordered them a half size up.
My only complaint is with the laces. They slip. I need to swap them because they do not hold a knot which leads to frequent stops to tighten.
I didn't think I'd like such a loud show, but i really enjoy the colors! And the comfort is unparalleled.

Tried both a 9.5 and 10 (normal size a 9.5, but the 10 fit better). My problem was in the heel area of the shoe- after walking around the house for a bit testing them out, the structure of the shoe made the underside of my heel (heel pads) fatigued and sore. Really loved the wide toe box and the shoe was sufficiently cushiony, sad it didn't work for me. The blue color is accurate to the photos.

I've had these for two months and the bottom tread is already wearing down and there are worn spots developing in the heels. They look like I've had them for a year. I wear them to walk 10-13 miles per week on a cement walking path. They are super comfy and my bunions don't hurt as much, but I would expect a shoe at this price point to last longer than 2 months!

I wanted these specifically for winter hiking to use with microspikes and snow gaiters. I bagged a peak Saturday I in mostly 3-4ft snow. 16.1 miles and 4200'+ elevation later my shoes and 2 pairs of wool socks and my feet were soaked! The shoes needless to say are still wet!

I usually wear a 8.5 mens in terra venture which has a 3M drop and the sole has good flex and ground feel. I have a narrow heel and the men's snugs up OK. The woman's 10 is the same length and width, although on the terra venture I feel that the men's has more toe depth. This boot is a dark teal color, I love teal and I wanted to love this boot. I have wide thick toes and there is enough toe depth and width and wiggle room. I felt a bit of rub on my little toe and that was from the sliding. It does fit my thick, high arch 3/4 orthotic . I felt that the sole was stiff and I could not feel ground. As others have said the ankle / heel does not snug up, the back of the boot seems straight / no heel curve. No amount of pulling on the laces and cutting off my circulation made my heel stay in place. My feet were sliding and that could also be the stiffness, but then I would have to bend / twist the boot sole to see if that was the problem. These boots were too expensive to have them sitting in the bottom of the closet and have to give them away. Two days after I requested a return and sent them back, Zappos sent me an email that I could have 30 day wear trial and I could send them back worn if they did not fit..Well, Zappos should say that in the beginning. I know that if I order directly form Topo or REI, I can do that but they no longer had the Teal color in my size. I really do not think that that heel ankle fit would work out.. I guess it is terra venture for the winter with N.E.O.S. over shoes..

I like the lace holders on the sides and tongue. Enough cushion for me and being waterproof are big pluses.

This is my second pair of Topos, my others are the MT-3's. Winter in the Pacific Northwest requires waterproof footwear, and my feet require the Topo-fit, so this was an easy decision :) I usually wear low-top hiking/trail running shoes year-round (with gaiters in the winter), feeling that boots are way too bulky. Right when I pulled these out of the box I was happy about how light they were. I was looking for a waterproof trail shoe that would provide support/protection for hiking while also being lightweight and secure enough on my foot for whenever I decide to start running on the trail (I 'walk' my dog 3-5 miles a day on trails and these usually end up as hybrid hike-runs :) After a bit of tweaking with how I tie the upper portion of the shoes, I've found the perfect fit! Love 'em!!

I walk my dog many miles - sidewalks, parks, paved, unpaved. These are so so comfortable with roomy toe box. cushioning inside, rigid and grippy outside. Devoted fan now.

I love that these boots are not only vegan, but super comfy. No need to break them in, I was able to wear them without any blisters. I hike almost every weekend and these boots have held up well since August 2021. This past week I took them to PR with me and hiked two days in El Yunque. This included taking them to Charo Fro where I wore them in the water and hiking. They held up super well and dried quickly once we returned. That said, they were too heavy to really be swimming in. Do not recommend.
Today, I'm buying a new pair, because I've found one thing they don't hold up to: dogs.

These boots are incredibly comfortable (wide toe box); super lightweight, yet supportive; and waterproof! Yowzers! No wonder they're my go-to boots!

My new works boots. My feet are warm and dry so far working outside in New England. I did have to add another set of insoles to snug up the fit some. Also I have liked them in the woods too.

I bought the trail/hiking style for when we go on moderate hikes in the mountains or to wear on long walks with different terrain. I love the roomy toe box and how the laces can be tightened to hold my foot in place. I tried other brands for hiking and my feet were very uncomfortable. There is no need to "break" these shoes in, they feel great from the start!

I love my new topos. The size I got is perfect with no socks. I think I will go up a 1/2 size and buy another pair to have some to wear in the winter with socks.

I struggled in the past w shoes that quickly became too wide in the last (midfoot), that I couldn't lace them well. These fit perfect as soon as I put them on and have remained a great fit ever since. Thanks
So sad that the other pair I was waiting to add to my cart, didn't go up to a 10.5

I love the wide toe box. It allows my feet room to swell when it's hot and humid, and space to stay warm when it's cold!
