The fit and size were perfect. Im a true 8.5m but usually will buy a 9 in boots to leave room for the one foot that is bigger than the other (by a tad) and for a lightweight sock or even a winter sock depending upon the seasonality of the boot if one exists. These fit perfectly in a 9 and since they are a summer boot, what with the pink yellow and blue floral going on, I used a lightweight ankle sock so it doesn't show but protects my ankles from chafing more than would a liner. The one boot was just a tad large on my smaller foot but not enough to be floppy or problematic in any way. With a tight, like in my dress shoes, I suspect I would be ok with an 8.5 in Old Gringo Boots but since this is summer and Im not about to wear one of those overdone Lolita outfits no tights for me with these. Basically they fit perfect but in the future I would try buying an 8.5 for darker or winter boots if Old Gringo was out of stock everywhere in a 9 which is still my first choice in a boot. This was my first pair of Old Gringos. Im thrilled with the quality. The bone crackle background is not shy and the muted pink, blue and yellow flowers are done in multiple shades of each color and are beautiful. The green is a little too subtle so dont blend with a green dress. For a green, rust or burgundy or even an ivory with warm tone floral dress go look at the Ariat Bootie at Wild West Boot Store which has rust and burgundy roses painted on a crackled black background and they are on sale for only $110...would go great with Jeans and a boho top too and with warmer clothes in winter like a cut cropped blazer over a tiered boho shirt or even a plain old button-up. Back to the Old Gringo floral boot here I don't know if you can see it in the pic but there is tiny gold piping on the boots seams; I dont know who comes up with this stuff at Olds Gringo but its a beautiful subtle addition to the boot which overall looks very high end. You cant miss with Zappos on these floral boots for summer, they will be there for you for years to come and because of the bone background and antiqued finish and if you are in California, or anywhere with general mild weather conditions, wearing them in Fall and Spring is ok too since we only have two seasons here...dang its hot and dang its cold. I would not hesitate to pay full price again on another pair of Old Gringos that are particularly seasonal so have a tendency to sell out in that season at full price like these do.
