Seems to do the job when preheated with boiling water. Good result with steel cut oats. Woke up to warm cooked oatmeal.

Love the food jar and how long things stay hot. The size of the jar and the mouth of it make it easy to use. No more 2-jar lunches.
Not a fan of the side spork; but easy to just not use it. Doesn't compromise the use or look.

I know it sounds dumb to say, but yes, it does what it's designed to do. It keeps food hotunlike the garbage Hydroflask thermos I have.

I consider this an essential piece of gear for cold days working on the trail. I first purchased one a week after forgetting to pack a spork one day. Now it's never a problem. I've started work on frosty ground and had very hot soup at lunch time - often 6+ hours after packing it. (I heat the contents to boiling and pre-heat the jar using boiling water). Now I'm buying more for my kids' sno-park lunches.
I struggle with executive dysfunction and sometimes my Stanley gear doesn't get cleaned right away, but it ALWAYS comes clean without much hassle.

The bottom instructions says hand wash only yet there are some add saying dish washing is fine?
I dish washed mine but will only hand wash in the future!

I bought 3 of these food jars a while back and used it at the park for cold hiking days, going camping and for my son to take his chili to school. Works perfect. No leaks, keeps your food hot for hours. We haven't tested how long it stays hot as we haven't had any long trips yet. But I highly recommend if you like hot soup, stews, chili etc.

This product is AWESOME! Although it is mainly used for food, I purchased this product to keep my insulin (vial) cold while traveling abroad. Very unconventional use but in the past when I travelled internationally, I struggled to keep my insulin cool. My ice pack would melt and I had to resort to ice and change every few hours. I literally flew 19 hours (including a 3 hour layover in France) and the ice was still solid and my insulin cold. This is my new travel companion as it takes the stress out of traveling with insulin and the need to keep it cold. No sweat or leakage from the container. I'm very impressed!

Very nice. They keep our tortellini and pesto nice and hot for our evening apres ski. The spork is a great addition.

I purchased this at a local store several years ago. I love it! I don't take it backpacking, but I'll bring it along on winter dayhikes, snowshoeing, or nordic skiing. It's great to have a hot lunch available without having to cook it.
I use it for work, too. I work in an office, but I prefer the way my steel-cut oats taste straight out of the pan over the way the taste re-heated in a microwave.
I ticked "average" under the "Ease to Clean" question. The vessel is easy to clean because it's steel & there aren't a lot of nooks & crannies, but I find it requires more than just a quick rinse to get it clean.

Does the job keeping food warm all day. Looks small but I was supervised by how much food it does actually hold

I have had my food jar for over twenty years. I recently bought my son and son in-law one so they can experience the pleasure of having a hot lunch on a cold work day. I'm sure they will appreciate them as much as I do mine.

1. KEEPS HOT THINGS HOT, COLD THINGS COLD- I ADD BOILING SOUP AT 5 AM, 12HRS LATER (HOT!)
2. WILL NOT LEAK - YOU CAN THROW IN BACKPACK (WILL NOT SWEAT OR LEAK)
3. ATTACHED SPORK WORKS WELL, STAYS IN PLACE WHEN ATTACHED
4. EASY TO CLEAN - YOU DON'T NEED SPECIAL BRUSHES OR BOTTLE BRUSHES TO CLEAN
5. EXCELLENT CAPACITY - 18OZ IS PERFECT FOR A FILLING LUNCH (LID DOUBLES AS SERVING CUP) ( TOP PORTION HAS SPACE STORE TOPPINGS THAT STAY DRY AND SECURE ABOUT 1/4 CUP.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A WORK/LUNCH SOLUTION THIS IS EXCELLENT. I HAVE TRIED MANY DIFFERENT METHODS BROWN BAG LUNCH, THE LUNCHBOX, INSULATED LUNCH BAG. THE MAJOR FLAW THAT THESE HAVE IS YOU NEED TO EITHER REHEAT OR REFRIGERATE MANY LUNCH ITEMS. I CAN THROW THIS IN MY WORK BACKPACK AND FORGET ABOUT IT. EXCELLENT OPTION FOR OUTDOOR USE I.E. HIKING, WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY, BACKPACKING.

Great product! Besides keeping my grand daughters 1st grade lunch hot it has also withstood her habit of dropping it on a daily basis. She especially likes the "secret" compartment where she snesks her daily sweets.

This thing is a beast and does not leak. Our daughter goes to a full-time outdoor school in Maine and even in the dead of winter / hrs in the pack her lunch is hot enough to warm her bones. A necessity for our Family.
