I purchased my Rip Ruck 24 for my Winter Steelhead trip's, here in the Pacific Northwest On the river for the morning and/or day, it carries probably more than I need and regardless of volume, it's always comfortable.
Always moving to a different holes, pockets, or slots; crossing the river; casting on the move, it's never awkward and always comfortable.
It rains here, especially in the winter, and it's never failed to keep thing's dry!
Easy, quick access to compartments is a snap with the quick-zip features and the magnetic latches.

Purchased two of these bags as get home car bags. Living in the DC area my wife and I are concerned with another 9/11 event that grid locks I-95 and we will have to hoof it back the 30-miles home. Our previous car bags had become these huge heavy apocalypse bags that would break a mule's back. These bags work great to keep the gear down. Took the bag to the DC auto show for the week to see how it would hold up slung on my back with 10 lbs of gear. It was greatthe bag, not the show. The bag performed well and the straps were comfortable. It does ride high on my 6'4" frame.

I bought this pack before traveling abroad and am so glad that I did. It was the perfect size for my daily needs and the quick access to the front compartment made grabbing/storing my camera much easier and better than my previous bag. Well made and very thoughtful design and features. 10/10 would recommend

The Rip Ruck was exactly as described on the website, and the video. The video was very helpful in making my purchase decision. The Rip Ruck did not disappoint and I am sure I will get tremendous use out of it traveling

I love this bag, it's a great size and not something I need to worry about breaking. Holds my 15" laptop and enough gear to get me through my dasyh, even if my day is more than I expected. Awesome combo, get there, get home bag.
Several running themes in the reviews I've read: Water bottle and a lack of inside organization. A common water bottle will fit in one of the front zip pockets, if you unzip it and push in the flap? Holds as well or better than many side stretch pouches I've used. Secondly, the inside is actually a pallete of infinite organization? That velcro panel offers options from lights, pens, knives, zip pouches, holsters, ammo, handcuffs, pepper spray, tourniquets, etc. Just search for hook and loop pouches, there's a whole niche market of these? Design your own, feel the power MR has given you!
If your questing for that just right EDC bag, this definitely worth a look!

The Rip-Ruck 24 is an almost perfect school backpack! My son (12) has been carrying one for almost 3 years. It has been fantastic - has held up to daily use, holds and organizes well, and looks great too. I recently purchased another for his younger brother. My two other kids have used north face backpacks for years and it seems like I am buying a new one for them almost every year. Mystery Ranch has held up so much better. The biggest drawback is the lack of the side water bottle holder (ie. the side stretch woven pockets - they are on the 15 and 32). The 24 will mostly likely work thru middle school but I worry it will become too small for Highschool. Hence.
Mystery Ranch, please make a Rip Ruck 28!! I would do anything to have Mystery Ranch take the exact design of the 24 and make it bigger (say 1750 cu-ins with added cu-ins more in the depth of the pack than height), plus add the side woven pocket. I've purchased the 32 hoping that it could be the next step up for my 12 yr old, but it is just too much of a backpack for everyday (too tall, too bulky, organization not as good). The 24 has a two big sections - the back with laptop sleeve and the front rip-zip compartment. The 32 has a more narrow back compartment that seems like it is only for a laptop while the front rip-zip is really large. I think the 24 is better balanced and makes it easier to organize for school.
Our family has a bunch of Mystery Ranch packs, mostly for day hikes/everyday carry/travel. The Rip-Rick 24 is our favorite for durability and versatility. Could be a perfect 10 if it had the side woven pockets!

I bought this backpack for the first time 3 years ago, and liked it so much I just bought it again in a different color. I am a huge fan of the "rip" function of the pack. The ease of opening it with one hand and finding something inside is better than many over backpacks I have tried. Definitely worth the extra money for this quality backpack!

Great bag, it fits a 17" laptop in the back, and the volume of the front of the bag is large enough for alot of accessories for EDC. I will buy another Mystery Ranch pack in the future.

I have been in wildland fire for 15 or so years, I go threw a backpack every other year. I figured we use them for our line gear why not for personal gear. The backpack is well built and you can't beat the customer service.

I load this bag with a 10 lb plate and 20 lb of sand and take off. Comfortable distribution for upper body loading. It is from mystery ranch so you know that nothing will fail no matter how long and hard you use it

I bought this as my primary flight bag for training for my commercial pilot license and it fits everything I need for flight! I use organizers so items aren't loose and all over the bag. Also looks great and is just the right size to easily fit in a plane with you.

I purchased this backpack to carry work electronics on the weekdays and for use as a light hiking option and I am glad I did. The bag has a ton of internal compartments to keep my laptop and brother printer separate and secure, all while not looking overtly tactical. The only improvement I would like to see for the rip tuck 24 is possibly some water bottle pockets on the sides, it would be nice to throw my keys in there or slip a water bottle in there to stay hydrated. Overall great bag and I'm happy with the purchase.

This bag is wonderful for my daily carry! I am able to fit the multiple computer/tablets for my work in the main compartment while still able to fit other things/edc items in the other pockets! Great setup!

The pack is fantastic for daily carry. I use it for work. Easily fits an iPad and my laptop with plenty of space for my tech pouch / cord organizer. The front small pockets are very convenient for small items, but their location makes them less convenient for quick access as they are on the bottom so you have to life the pack up to get to them. For this reason the pack doesn't have great quick access to little items (eg phone, AirPods, keys) so I strongly recommend you also purchase a Forager pouch which easily attaches to the top of the bag (large size Forager). Only other downside: no water bottle pouch. That's a big miss in my opinion, so I won't travel with this bag, but the other features make it a home run for EDC.

I bought this bag to add a smaller EDC to my bag list and glad I did! Like with all MR products, fit, finish, and functionality are at the top of the design. Goes everywhere I go.

Great for an everyday bag or a GO bag. Pockets are easy to rip open and the bag itself is very durable. Plenty of pockets there wasn't too many or too little. All in all a great small bag 10/10 recommend!!

I replaced my typical travel satchel with the RipRick on my last short business trip. Multiple compartments, ease of entry, and secure magnetic closures made it an easy choice to carry change of clothes, personal effects, AND all necessary items for my business dealings. Getting to and through the airport has never been easier!

What you can't tell looking online is how nice the fabric feels in your hand. The pack feel robust yet somehow silky smooth. The shoulder straps have plush padding that absorbs weight and contours to you body nicely, and I have found the Rip Ruck 24 to be incredibly durable. I love the quality of the zippers and the use of magnets for quick access is genius. As someone who carried an Alice pack back in the day in the corps, I love the styling. It gives a nod to the past while giving it a modern take. The pack itself is the size of a large book bag / day pack.
