When I first got this cooler (16qt), I thought it was the sweetest cooler out there. After one hot afternoon of being on the lake, my cooler latches no longer latch. Almost like the cooler swelled from the sun and now the lid doesn't close. Haven't had it a year yet, either. I will reach out to CS to see how this can be handled. If they can make it right, I will edit my review. I've had the smaller one for years now and love it.

I was really excited for this cooler. I love Stanley and own multiple Stanley products. This cooler feels very flimsy and cheap. I can already see several failure points. Also very disappointed it cannot hold a 20 oz bottle of soda standing up. You also cannot stack cans one on top of each other but have to lay them on their side. Very poor design. I don't know why engineering missed the need for 20 oz bottles to fit in a cooler. It also doesn't seem that durable. I've only had it for a couple days and I've already stuffed it several times. We use coolers often during the week to hold water and drinks and every weekend to hold beer, cocktails, soda and water. We need a small cooler to use at sporting events, community events and for outdoor sports like kayaking, fishing and camping, but this design is in inadequate.

The cooler is ok, it's size is convenient and the materials seem durable. But after using for about 1 year the latches stopped working. The inner grey plastic part separated from the green part, and now the latches do not along properly. Not worth the money if it won't stay closed. A better latch is needed.

purchased this cooler about 4 months ago, hoping that it would keep ice for 2 days. It performed just slightly better than my $15 igloo brand. The latches are very difficult to open and close. Wife has broken her nails trying to open the lid. For the cost I expected a better performing product from the Stanley company. I still use my Stanley thermos that is 30 plus years old without issues.

I originally purchased the 7Qt. It looked well built and kept everything nice and cold so I purchased the 16Qt a week later. After a couple of months the lid would not close on both of the coolers due to the latches. I contacted Stanley and they sent me replacements. I ran into the same issue with the replacement coolers and contacted Stanley once again. This time they wanted me to ship the coolers in order for them to be replaced. The only issue here was that the shipping cost was going to be more expensive then the coolers themselves even through USPS and Stanley was not going to cover the charges. Now I am stuck with two coolers that wont close.

While I liked the design elements of this cooler, I don't think the design team gave any thought as to what would be kept in the cooler. The 16 qt. model is about 1 1/2" too short - I am unable to keep glass bottles inside in the upright position. What the heck?? Terrible oversight. Quite often after opening a cold one, it's nice to put the bottle back in the cooler for a bit while we go do something else. Still deciding whether to return it or keep it just because of that one issue.

I have had this cooler for close to a year. I own 7 different thermos' and mugs which are fantastic. However, this cooler doesn't insulate and keep ice well at all. I keep it in my cool basement, add cold cans because bottles won't fit standing up, and then add ice. Less than two hours later, all the ice will be gone when if it stays inside the house. I really hate to give a negative review but I hold Stanley products to a higher level and this cooler doesn't measure up to it.

I bought this cooler because it looks like it would fit my work life. I put my vacume container on the lid and it tilts every time. You better have a heavy lunch to keep it from tilting while carrying your lunch. Not the best design.

I used the cooler about four times before the latches stopped sealing, rendering the cooler fairly worthless. Prior to what appears to be a somewhat isolated manufacturing issue, it held its cool throughout the day.

I bought this cooler one month ago for sailing. The first week we had a heavy rain during the night and the cooler was outside. The inside stayed dry, but the top of the lid was full of water and I noticed after that it sipped water trough the holes of the fixation for the elastic. Now, there weeks after, at every use water comes outside. I wonder at what extent it will arm the quality of the insulation.

This cooler has a few flaws, the biggest being it doesn't hold ice very long. I'm lucky to get 12 hours out of 5lb bag. I like the design of the lid being leak proof and concaved with the bungee cord but it drinks water if it gets wet or rained on. The other design flaw is it just barely doesn't hold upright bottles but still can make it work.

Do not buy if you need to take it on trips with elevation gain. It will not open (due to pressure difference and the seal being so strong) when you get back. I have to use a screwdriver to pry it open every time and now the plastic is ripped up and damaged. Very inconvenient and expensive for poor design. The latches are also a pain to open and close. It does keep things really cold I guess.

I've had this cooler for about a year now and it's worked rather well except for I have had to sit on the lid to close it ever since I bought it. It has done a good job keeping things cold (close to Yeti). I would've given it 3-4 stars until a week ago I left my cooler outside in the backyard for a few days (never had done this prior) and the plastic lid warped completely to the point I can't close it at all. My boyfriend tried for a half hour and he's an ex college football player and couldn't get it closed. Huge bummer that I paid so much for this just to find out it can't be outside for just a few days without completely breaking/not working anymore!!

Great size, well built, but after a while it will not close. The latches will not snap over the lid, and it is almost impossible to snap closed. Thank goodness they have a great return policy, and in seems like I'm not the only one that has had to return one.

Simple car camping trip to Zion Natl Park for a weekend. After returning home, washed it out, let it dry, and then ATTEMPTED to Close the Lid. The LID WILL NOT CLOSE, even under EXTREME PRESSURE. The inner lining has separated from the outer shell by a small amount and CANNOT BE PRESSED DOWN so you can close the lid. Now it is USELESS.

I've been a devoted Stanley customer for 30+ years. I have over a dozen thermos by Stanley. My coffee mug is always with me and can never be challenged by another. In fact I've given over 6 as gifts. I thought this cooler would be incredible. I store it in my finished basement which is always cold. I add cold cans because bottles don't fit standing up. I then add bagged ice but the ice completely melts within a few hours in temps under 85 degrees. The plastic latches have been messed up since the second time I used it. It has become useless to me as a cooler. So disappointed in this product. I now store it in my truck box to hold field hockey balls that my team leaves behind after practice. Its days as a cooler are finished. Time for Stanley to overhaul this item.
