Living in the Wasatch, working at one of the resorts and being outdoors most days, I've acquired a number of jackets and shells. The Rush is my favorite. It is nicely adjustable, proportionally excellent, ruggedly durable, lightweight and form fitting. I haven't found another shell with such a great combination of those factors. It may not have the pockets and add-ons some jackets do but then its simplicity is one of the things I appreciate about it. It has all the pockets and features I need for skiing and most outdoor activities. I just haven't found another brand that is so refined and embraceable. I liked it so much I was wearing it every day, so I bought a second for a different set of colors.

This is a great jacket! The mix 80D/40D gives you durability and save some weight without compromising features! I'm 5'5" / 147 and the small fits great! I agree with some of the reviews that say the jacket is a little on the short length side, but that's where the powder skirt is going to help you and the slide&lock feature works great to attach to your pants if you don't like to wear bibs, it provides enough room for layering and and I can move without any restriction! The quality and detail in this piece is outstanding, the blue nile color is pretty much like shown in the picture. Pockets: the two hand warmer pockets are a little higher than normal, but not totally pack friendly, they can work with a pack, but are not the easiest ones to use with a pack, the internal stash pockets is handy and the zippered internal pocket is a nice addition for some snacks or wallet, no media pocket but I prefer to put iPod on my mid layer to keep it warm and save battery. I wish there was a big chest pocket, something like the one on the Theta SVX, maybe not necessary to be too big, but a chest pocket would be a nice improvement! The hood is big and easy to go over my medium smith helmet, the collar is high but not the most spacious. Sometimes I wish there was a little more space in the collar area since it can get a little tight sometimes, but not to the point to bother me. This is a great jacket, light, generous fit for layers, nice helmet compatible hood and I believe it's the least expensive Goretex Pro Shell from Arcteryx, what else can we ask for? Humm, maybe a chest pocket!

To start i am 174cm65kgmedium built with a 93cm chest measurement and a 34" waist. I normally wear a SMALL on most Arcteryx jackets but i went for a Medium on the 2013 model Rush. From other reviews i noticed lots of positive feedbacks regarding to the ski functionality so i would like to point out some feedbacks on this jacket apart from using it for skiing. Sizing. Arcteryx claims that the Rush has their Expedition Fit same as the Alpha SV. I own an Alpha personally and i can tell the Rush has a slimmer cut on the chest and the sleeves, more like Arc's Athletic Fit. It fits like a Theta AR or a Beta AR in my opinion. And this is also the reason why i went one size up. Dont get me wrongi am fine with both the Small and Medium but i was planning to wear some heavy layers underneath the Rush so i settled for the Medium. Fabric. I love the idea of combining 2 different Gore Tex Pro fabrics with the N80P-X on high abrasion areas. This eventually helps the jacket to be more user-friendly and super comfortable to wear. It also feels softer comparing to the full N80P-X Alpha SV. Hood. Adjustments. Typical helmet compatible Storm Hood. A couple of adjustments at the back and 2 drawcords on the front, which is located outside the jacket, which can be easily adjusted even with your gloves on. I am not a fan of the drawcords located inside of the jacket near your chin just like the Modon Jacket so no problems with the hood here. Hem adjustment is single-handed operated, typical Arcteryx stuff with a non-detachable powder skirt. Pockets. Zippers. A tiny pocket on the sleeve for your passes but i do not use it too often. A couple of handwarmer pockets. They above mentioned are equipped with Watertight zippers. Meanwhile the main zipper is Watertight Vislon, which i always prefer over the normal Watertight main zipper just like the one on the Stingray. The Vislon just zips like butter and i can definitely operate it with a single hand. 1 mesh pocket and 1 zippered pocket on the inside of the jacket and it feels great to always have a mesh pocket for your sunglasses or goggles. It is also more practical when you are wearing your gloves. Verdict. I use the Rush everyday from skiing to walk my dogs or even riding my scooter to work. As one of the reviewers say it does not make sense to compare the Rush to the Alpha SV since they are built for different purposes. However i can definitely say the Rush can also be used as an everyday jacket because of the more user friendly fabric combo, the pocket configuration and the cut. Thanks Arcteryx for building the Rush.

I was extremely pleased when I received this jacket. I think it's probably the best Arcteryx jacket for skiing that i tried on. Would highly recommend. It's purely a shell so you can layer how you want, which is my preference. I ski with the Patagonia powder bowl still for heavier days. Very impressed with the Rush.

I admit, I love Arc'teryx products and own several jackets but none compare to the Rush for skiing. Until this year I used a Stingray jacket (I also own a Theta and a few soft shells) as my primary but it was time to change. After looking at all the options I purchased the Rush and couldn't be happier. It looks great, layers great, has wonderful pocket placement. The combination of fabrics make a much nicer feel then just a hardshell #like the SV and Theta#. If you plan to ski with a shell, this is a jacket you must look at. For reference I'm 54, 5'8" tall and 145lbs. The "M" fits just great with enough room to put an Arc'teryx layer or 2 under on cold days.

I have only used this jacket a few days and I am loving it. I have the Supernova color, which I believe looks a lot better in person. The hood fits perfectly over my helmet and is very adjustable. The fit looks great and feels even better. I love how light the jacket is too, feels weightless and very flexible. Powder skirt is unnoticeable, but has not zipper, or snaps for pants, could pose a problem on deep powder days, but has yet to be tested by me. Overall this jacket has been perfect!

I was hesitating between the Rush and the Theta SV as my new skiing and 4 seasons backpacking jacket... After several shopping sessions where I have tried both jackets with multiple number combinations (and various types) of layers, I decided to go with the Rush. I'm 6'4" (185 lb.) and the fit of the Large is perfect, with just enough room to accomodate a base layer + fleece + Atom LT hoody combo. (The Theta SV had a bit too much unnecessary room around the shoulders). I've tried every other brand of Pro Shell out there (Peak Performance, Mountain Hardwear DryQ Elite & North Face... And nothings compares to the fit and build quality that I've found in the Arc'teryx Rush jacket! I'm so ecstatic about my new purchase and can't wait to enjoy the Rush for the many years to come!

I was really excited to get this and seems to be an amazing jacket but the color was not as advertised for the elevation color and the other colors don't fancy me.

I order COLOUR Elevation, but its not the same color, the top of the jacket is grey and not black. Is it normal ? Maybe the picture of the website is more dark. The quality is perfect and the size as well ! (XL, 187cm, loose fit style) Thats the kind of technical ski jacket I was looking since a while. The price...

Compared to a Beta AR, this feels way more baggy. I do like the longer length for skiing. Used it for 3 seasons, very durable. The powder skirt works well when I fall (and I guess the icy New England conditions are a good test of durability) LOL

Overall solid construction and everything you expect from an Arcteryx piece. Though I don't understand why did you decided to remove the chest pockets? I am really frustrated not having chests pockets like the previous versions of this jacket. Next time I would consider a jacket with better functionality.

I just received my Rush Skyrider after being backordered. I was surprised about the color difference between the website and reality, where the real color is more blue-green (darker turquoise) than blue and the difference between the dark and the brighter sections is not as distinct as on the web. Regardless of this, I like it and will update the review as I break it in.

I bought this to replace my 15+ YO Theta AR (in the classic Sangria color) that finally gave up the ghost when I washed it last. So far, so good. We're not into ski season yet in CA, but wearing around town and in the rain, this seems as solid as my Theta. Definitely stiffer and crinklier, but I expected that. I wish the fit was a bit trimmer. Maybe not quite Alpha AR/SV trim, but not quite as baggy. I really wanted handwarmers *and* the left bicep pocket, though, so the fit is what I get for that. It fits "true to size" so the extent that the arms are the right length and hem is the right length for a ski jacket. As expected there. The cut is just a bit baggier than ideal. Skyrider color is snazzy and to my eyes true to what it looks like on the Arcteryx site.

Wore it almost 100 days last winter between resort and backcountry and have no real complaints. Durability and waterproofness live up to the usual arc and gore pro standards. Feels well constructed despite not being one of the made in Canada articles but I can't confirm yet if it'll stand the test of time like their old products did. Hopefully it does or if not hopefully the warranty/repair department has stopped being so finicky since covid is calming down. I like the pocket placements as they don't interfere when wearing a pack and the internal storage pockets are great. Fit is decently long and with the skirt all snow is kept out always. Colours are bright and vivid, easily seen in the backcountry (my jacket's colour-way anyway) and hadn't faded one bit even with multiple washes. Considering it's a ski-specific jacket I would love some sort of mess in the pit zips for warmer days and spring tours but that's not really a complaint against this jacket, more against every high quality shell on the market bar some Norrona I think. One big negative for me NO TWO WAY ZIP. So incredibly frustrating having to unzip 3/4 of the way from the top just to access my beacon!! Or when trying to get into bib pockets! Would have 5 stars if not for this. Such a small and easy thing completely overlooked.

This jacket is perfect except it needs a small external pocket for cell phones and small items. The large pockets allow smaller items to move around too much when you are skiing.

I have the newest version in size large. I'm 5'10 180lbs athletic build and the large fits perfect with room to move around while backcountry skiing and walking. The goretex is super durable and works and breathes great. The pockets and ventilation are on point too. I have the red and tan color and I must say the jacket colors look way better in real life than in the internet photos. My only gripe is the collar fit. The collar when zipped up all the way can be a bit restrictive, especially when wearing a mid layer like the ATOM LT with a zip up or a baclava (which one always wears when out skiing). When the hood is up over a toque or a helmet it's totally fine but sort of feels a bit too tight when down, fully zipped and wearing a baclava and helmet. Other than that this jacket is dope! Well done arcteryx. I'm sure this jacket will serve me well for many years. The addition of some eremovable elasticated wrist cuffs with thumb hole might be a nice touch as well but I appreciate the design now as it fits over a pair of mitts really well.

I love this jacket! It is my shelter all winter long, but the reason I wanted to leave a review was to help others with the fit. I am 6'3" 180lbs and normally wear slim fit clothing. I recently purchased a large which was the size of my previous arc'teryx jacket. This one however was MUCH larger in the sleeves, and chest. The length was perfect on me, but I ended up exchanging it for a medium because there was so much extra room in the arms, and chest. Not to mention the sleeves went past my finger tips. I'm really happy with the medium but wish the large was bit slimmer

I have about 10 shells - rush, alpha sv, Patagonia powslayer, beta lt, etc. This is by far the best. Compared to alpha sv, the hoodie different. When fully zipped up it doesn't cover your mouth or nose so easier to breath comfortably when working hard skiing) Only drawback is lack of Napoleon pockets. Please please please add one or two in next generation and I'll buy another one! Would make this the perfect ski jacket. Also maybe use the new goretex pro stretch coming out this year. I have it in phantom king. Sick color. Black baccara looks even better. 6'2" 190. Large is perfect. Don't downsize - this is a shell and should pair with nano air or proton lt with a base layer under.

I have a large selection of garments from Arc'teryx. So I decided to purchase a new Rush jacket (Cyborg) and a pair of Sabre pants (Yukon). The fit and look is amazing. Waterproof but still very breathable construction. The most breathable so far! The jacket is a perfect fit with outstanding attention to detail. Good zippers, nice pockets, useful hood/hem. I am athletic 180cm tall and 85kg and medium is a great fit with a thin down jacket underneath. However, the jacket stains easily. Much easier then prior garments and the stains stick. A minor problem as the products will show patina eventually. Nevertheless, my main problem is with the inner fabric of the jacket. It is to soft and wears easily. Especially the double fabric in the neck region of the hood. After a few days of skiing it is tearing (attached pictures). The fibers in the fabric tear and is separating from the layer underneath. I cannot imagine what it will look like after a few years of intensive use. I mean, it is on the inside of the hood with little abrasion except for a soft neck warmer and possibly also the smooth buckle for the helmet (A POC). Non of these are abrasive! I have contacted the retailer for a refund (there are only a few Rush in medium available in Sweden) or exchanging the jacket (if there are available jackets).

Bought this shell in a large. Tried the medium, but was a little snug. I am 6 ft 185 larger shoulders so I tend to go between large and medium based on desired fit for layer/activity. Wanted a little more freedom of movement in this shell so went with the large and am very happy with it. The Rush jacket pairs nicely with the Saber pants. Nice interface with the powder skirt and buttons. Rode plenty of trees and still looks new.

As a regular skier, couldn;t have asked for more from a shell jacket. Very lightweight and easily packable, but durable at the same time, particularly on the shoulders for carrying skis. I feared the hood might flap at the back, but even when going fast (happen to be an ex-downhill racer), stayed put behind my neck and was of no nuisance. When you first wear it, though, does crinkle a bit, as if made of paper. The cuff adjustors are really sweet, and great that it comes with a powder skirt.
