Very happy with this. Wanted a jacket that was a soft shell, fitted and had some degree of waterproofing. went for rhapsody colour and love it! Highly recommend. This is my second jacket from Arc'teryx- great quality products and recommend to others.

Absolutely superb quality and fit . Love this jacket . I am 5,10 and 180 pounds 35 waste and size large is perfect . Looks so smart I wear this coat dog walking , trekking and doing out . Needs a sweatshirt or layers under if lower than 10 degrees otherwise a T shirt is fine

The Gamma MX Hoody is by far my most favorite and versatile piece of gear that I own. In addition to the light fleece lining, it's breathable and does a fantastic job at wicking away moisture, it's water resistant to light rain, extremely rugged and, in combination with my layering system, is my number one go-to soft shell and/or mid-layer jacket regardless of the altitude or where I'm climbing. So, whether ice climbing in Ouray in February, trekking to Everest Base Camp in March, rock climbing in Joshua Tree in March or climbing Kilimanjaro and/or Ebrus in June, this jacket goes with me everywhere I climb!

Early season powder dump? Hooded Baselayer plus Gamma. Mid season freeze? Baselayer plus insulation vest plus Gamma. Spring baselayer plus Gamma. Skinning and snowshoeing? Sleeveless vase plus Gamma. It does it all.
I never require a hardshell while Resort skiing and rarely when in the backcountry. This Gamma with its super versatile good and tremendous overall comfort is my quiver of one outer layer top.
The pocket layout is awesome and allows me to bring the essentials and even a few of the inessentials on the gondola it up the trail.
With a good pair of bibs the Gamma will do it all for my six months of outdoor and ski related endeavors in Northern New Hampshire.

Great jacket for wearing around town, and for hitting the trails on cool dry days. Wore it for a test run to 2200m on a -2C day, with a 40km+/hour wind and it held up great. As someone who prefers to throw on a softshell instead of layering underneath a hardshell, this jacket is great. The wind resistance and moisture resistance is impressive for a softshell. I think it will work great as a mid layer underneath my Beta AR on colder days as well, wouldnt recommend this as an outer in anything colder than -10C

I have used my jacket for over four years so far, no wear and tear with multiple activity. Very durable jacket and pretty warm. I used to carry this for rock climbing but it was too bulky in small multipitch backpack and I found cuff is a bit in the way. But perfect for hiking or ice climbing, when you have a bigger backpack or not expecting to take it off. Also good for cold day ski touring for up-tracking.

I was looking for a jacket to wear when backpacking. I wanted something that would help with getting sweaty and then cold. This jacket works great.

Out of all the jackets I've owned in my lifetime, the Gamma MX Hoody is my all-time favorite insulated jacket for the weather in Oklahoma. It keeps the wind out and repels moisture well when keeping up with the NU repellant treatment bi-annually. I get many compliments on the jacket as well. The design is both handsome and functional. 100% recommend... you won't be disappointed!

This is the best soft shell I've ever bought. Perfect for hiking, skiing, backpacking and even wear around town with jeans.

I got the Gamma MX for the increased weather protection and so far it has lived up to it. Used as a mid and outer layer in changeable conditions in the Scottish highlands with high winds, light rain, heavy snow and temps down to -5 degrees Celsius so far. A good level of breathability which is great for mountain ascents. A great fit and durable outer look great and make for a versatile jacket.

I have a few highly favorite garments from Arc'teryx and the Gamma MX is one of them. I've nicknamed it "My Snut Jacket." Reason why, every time I seem to wear this jacket it's always the perfect weather to get this drip of water coming down the tip of my nose. I bought one for my girlfriend and she also took the nickname is stride. "What should I wear? What is the weather outside?" She would asks... "Mmm Yes, you should wear your Snutty I think..." She knows what it means.
I am fairly new to the Arc'teryx brand, It's probably stupid to say but I somehow developed a personal relationship with my Arc'teryxs along the way and many of the products I purchased and use everyday have been given nicknames because they do so well in the environment they were designed to do.
The Gamma MX washes really nicely. I tested this a few times while mountain biking. I get mud on the back and let it dry and simply brush it off with s soft bristle brush and it cleans right out - and my Gamma MX is black!
Another thing I love about this jacket is the huge pockets on the front. I fill these full of Cleanex, Skittles, power bars, wallet, phone... you name it.
There are 3 things I would love to see happening with this soft shell:
1- a velcro patch on the sleeve to tack-on a snut rag to wipe the water drip off my nose.
2- a "hook something" on the chest to hook a two way radio or a carabiner (actually all soft and hard shell should have this feature; I am always looking for something to hook something quick on my chest whether it's a tools or an accessory.)
3- I would love to see adjustable Velcro wrist straps

Folks rave about this jacket, and now I see why, though it's not quite what I expected. I bought the jacket as an all rounder, figuring I'd wear it for winter walks, commuting, etc. The jacket is definitely more on the athletic side, so I've been mainly using it for the 10k walk to the gym in all sorts of weather. The sleeves on the jacket are quite snug in the forearms, so not really a piece you can layer much under. I go with a merino long sleeve and that's about it. Think durable stretch shell with a relatively thin fleece liner. For my friends at Arc'teryx I'd would prefer a little more room in the forearms, and a Velcro sleeve closure. The jacket is sometimes difficult to put on and take off, as the fleece interior of the sleeves grabs your under layer- Maybe a slicker sleeve lining. The rest of the fit is spot on and very flattering- 5'10 195lbs and the large is great. The jacket is good in almost any weather. I wore it for 90 minutes in a cold, windy 40 degree rain and was very comfortable. Blocks wind well and breathes great. Hood is fantastic, super customizable fit and protection. Chin/neck is protective and allows room for a gaiter. I love this piece and highly recommend it for its versatility.

Hi love this jacket, the fit, the material, the style, the colour, everything I could want in a multi purpose softshell. It might sound expensive but you are paying for top quality craftsmanship and as you can wear this all year, either on the mountains or round town. (And if you buy the light blue with navy accents you get noticed too!) Well worth the money and highly recommended. Go on buy one, you wont regret it!

The quintessential softshell jacket, it's suitable for just about anything. It provides warmth and protection against the elements while being durable and easy to care for. This is one of the best jackets from one of the most reliable brands.
That being said, some nitpicks. The hood is great for going over a helmet while skiing, but in urban environments feels large. There's also no way to tuck the hood away. Also, like all softshell jackets, if the wind is strong you will still feel it through the jacket. These are trivial compared to the strengths of this jacket.

I didn't think I would love this as much as I do.
I wear this when the weather is fair and when it's nasty. While not waterproof there is a surprising amount of water repellency to this jacket.
I pair this with my Atom LT and it's a killer combo.

This is the jacket I hike in all of fall. It fits great, is super warm, and layered right works for me all season long. The outside material is rugged and hasn't shown any signs of wear. The inside is soft and keeps me warm on those wet and chilly fall days. I'm between sizes, and decided to size up. At 5'10 192 lbs, the large fits perfect. I really don't have anything bad to say about this coat. It has exceeded all my expectations.

This jacket is the best "go to" for hiking or snowshoeing in fall to winter climates. You have the option to layer under with the Cerium Light for optimal warmth when needed while drinking your hot chocolate on a mountaintop or at a lake before exploring further. This jacket is compatible with layering over if it pours rain or just leave it as is if its drizzly or snowing.... it can handle it. I highly recommend this product.

The Gamma MX is an incredibly comfortable all around jacket. The light fleece insulation provides a comfortable warmth and the breathability of the shell make for fewer overheating events. The DWR finish quickly sheds light rain and keeps things nice and dry. I picked one up for my wife and she loves her Gamma MX too! 10/10

This jacket is an excellent jacket that fits true to size. I have had one for over 5 years and ski most days, front country and backcountry, here in California in the jacket. Total of over 300 days wearing this jacket. Very breathable and durable. I am 6,1" 175 lbs, and am just between medium and large. I have the large to wear as a true outer layer. If I had one complaint, it would be the cuff. It works very well; but now that it is stretched out, it falls over the wrist onto the hand when wearing it which can be distracting when climbing in this piece. It would be great to have some cuff adjustability for when wearing this as an outer layer or if you want to wear with an under the cuff glove. Overall, excelling jacket and would highly recommend for anyone looking for weather resistance in a breathable jacket.
I also have a proton LT that is new with the same cuff issue on one side, so I don't think this is a one off issue.

I purchased this jacket to use as a one-layer solution for around town so I don't have to carry multiple layers or use my more expensive outdoor and mountaineering jackets which I don't want to smell like a restaurant...
This jacket fits that bill perfectly, it is super comfortable and just the right balance between warmth and weather protection.

Hey! I have several Arcteryx jackets/ hoodies. Atom lt size medium, cerium lt size large, squamish size large, atom ar size large and gamma Mx size large. I like them all, but gamma mx is the most versatile. I use it all the time. It is soft and pretty breathable. Collar and Hood is perfect! I am only1,74m tall with a wide chest(1,09), gamma mx fits me really great.
My only wish is that Arcteryx Will make a gamma mx with windstopper as well!
