Having purchased Merrill Footwear for over 12 years. Every now and then which is becoming more often than not I have a pair that just seemed to fall apart because of lack of quality and Design. The most recent was a one-month-old winter boot that I had and found that the back heal in the whole back separated from the upper area. It's a clean break clean cut right at where the seam is there is no stitching that must have been just glue holding it together. Rather disgusted at this point because every time you reach out to Merrill they seem to have an excuse or reason for not being responsible. I may really have to reconsider buying Merrell products again since this is the second failure in the last 6 months I want a pair of boots that I pre Buy for the upcoming season. Anyway buyer beware. I would have a very hard time recommending Merrell Shoes anymore.

I am an Amazon Delivery Driver and I love these boots. I use them all the time. Like any good boot, it took a little bit of time to break them in, but my feet no longer hurt after a full day of delivering.

My husband often takes size 12 in Merrells but the 11.5 left plenty of room, even with aditional arch support inserts.

I was VERY happy with my boots up until one of the fabric eyelets tore loose, thus reducing the tight fit I wanted. I'd buy these again, once the fabric eyelets get replaced by metal or an enforced hole. I am purchasing a different but similar style of boot. I would not recommend this particular boot due to the defect but most certainly recommend Merrell products due to the comfort of the boots.

Living in northern Montana with temps from -30 to 45 this winter - not ideal, but what we got. I have some slip on / zip up winter boots that I have been using. They are great for running to the grocery or driving up to the resort. Not so great for actually walking around for any length of time. They just aren't secure enough.
The Thermo Overlook 2 feels like a real boot. I was a bit unsure given the "duck boot" look at the front, but they cinch up nicely for a secure feel. The added features of a toe ring for gaiters and a ledge for snowshoes are great (if you have the snow), but not in the way when not using them. They are warm - not sure if I want to sit around in them outside for hours in -30 but I don't really want to do that anyway. They have not been cold in tromping around in the snow for a few hours and that is good enough.
The fit is good, similar to my other Merrells. The tread is good. I have not tested the ice grip very much but I have another pair that have it and it work. ok (not miraculous, but slightly better than not having it).

As always, Merrell is the most comfortable thing I have ever put on my foot. These boots are no different. I tried other brands before buying these just to see if there were other options. Nothing else was even close. Don't waste time or money on any other brand, they will disappoint you. Merrell never has and I don't think they ever will for me.

I bought these boots for my husband for Christmas and he placed one foot in his boot and said "ooh, these feel like they were made for my feet", lol. Needless to say, he loves them and wears them everyday. I even caught him wearing them in the snow without wearing socks Great buy!

Super comfortable and completely water proof. One one of my hikes I used crampons and they worked perfectly, and another hike with my snow shoes - also worked great! They are true to size as well so I was able to order the same size as my other hiking boots / shoes and. they fit perfectly.

I purchased these for my husband, who is a letter carrier, for wearing to work in winter. So far, he loves these boots! They keep him warm and dry and the traction is stellar.

I have been hiking in the Colorado mountains in winters for 50 years, and these are as good a boot as I have ever had. They are also wonderful when winter walking in the Front Range. They give great support but fit like a slipper. However, I have several Merrill shoes in size 10 1/2W, and prefer a size 11 in this boot - particularly if wearing a heavy sock. In my opinion, go large.

Some of the other reviews scared me a little about the long term durability, e.g. ungluing where the upper meets the rubber. But out of the box, these look like strong, well made boots.
The vibram outsole is deep and aggressive and the special ice lugs are slightly rough to the touch, like sandpaper. While they may not completely prevent you from sliding on pure wet ice, they should at least help in mixed icy/snowy conditions.
I normally go with 10.5 in sneakers and 10 for shoes or hiking boots but I wisely went with 10.5 with these. They have so much padding that it would have been tight if I went with my normal "boot size."
These have a lot of padding inside from ankle to toe and feel super warm. It's almost like your feet are being hugged. I love it.
My only quibble is that the leather upper doesn't look as light gray as it does in the photo. In person, it has kind of an olive tint to it. It doesn't look bad, just slightly different from my expectations.

I love my new boots, they were replacing a similar boot that I had from Merrell for years. I did size up a 1/2 size and I'm happy that I did. I hike a few miles in these boots every day and they are great and very warm. The only thing to be aware of is they have a very very high arch and that's coming from someone with high arches.

As with Merrell products in general they are great shoes. The only issue I have with them is the stitching that connects the waterproof sole to the boot frame feels a little off.
