Size did not match what I expected. Fit was too big so I returned them and re-ordered the next size down in both waist and length. That size fits, but runs slightly slim fit compared to a regular fit. Thus, the gap between one size up, and one size down is more extreme than say a regular pair of jeans. Makes it tough to find the right fit, particularly if buying online vs. being able to try on in a store. Online sizing descriptions vs fit and feel in person aside, they are a nice pair of convertible trail pants. They are light, flexible, and look sharp. The only hang up I have is in both the online size descriptions and how the sizes are not 100% accurate for mainstream US mens pants sizes. The need to have to package and send back, followed by reordering another smaller pair through trail and error led to the rating deduction.

Wow these are tight! In most pant sizes I am a 31 some times 32 if I want a little more room. I know I haven't been as active as usual due to this pandemic but theres no way I gained that much waistline. I got these as a 31 and I couldn't even zip them up. Im currently debating if I should exchange them for a bigger size and even then I may have to go up to a 33. The material is fairly thick and very swishy. These would definitely be helpful in wet conditions.

Was looking for the old style, these new ones do not seem nearly half as good. Please bring back the old style!

I've read reviews by others. Especially people who previously owned similar style pants and I share their views... The reason I ordered this pair is because I love my two, 6 years old pairs and wanted to add another color. I was expecting to get the same pants style. I wear them at least once a week, naturally they get washed often. The color didn't fade and the material didn't wear out. I liked the old design, the back pockets (without zippers) and the front pockets with flap located below the hip . The new design, on the other hand, feels lighter (which tells me it probably will not last as long and may rip easily). The shape, style and locations of the various pockets had changed (some are missing entirely). I got nothing against this style, but it should have been an addition to the original NOT a replacement. At least that way customers will have a choice.

Zipper too short in front. Belt loops, only two, belt buckle manual, used to be slide in, no cargo pockets, and just a lot of downgrades from previous models.

These are terrible. The old ones had pockets and an integrated belt. I should have bought 20 more pairs back then.

received these as a gift. Love the material and fit. The belt system makes me wonder if anyone at Northface even tried these on. Recommend with reservation.

Old versions with front side pockets on each side were the best. This new version has lesser quality material. Should have bought more pairs a few years ago. Have worn incredibly well (previous model) and held up to daily wear very well. Not going to try the newer version without pockets and lesser quality material.

Frustrating fly length. "Dropping draws " necessary.

The quality of these pants is very poor compared to past versions of Paramount pants. Looks like you are trying to save every cent you can, making a cheaper, less durable, less quality type of pants. Instead of a cargo and an extra side zip pocket you have nothing. The snap is smaller and hard to snap. There is no elastic on the back for stretch. They seem to be shorter with cheaper material. I bought a black pair just to have another color. I will never buy another pair unless the cargo pockets and elastic is put back on. Others feel the same. Shame on North Face!

I use the product for hiking and snowshoeing (one of the layers). OK in summer, but in colder conditions, can't easily operate the zipper with its very small tab. Zip length is too short (1 to 1 1/2" shorter than average jeans), so quick relief on a cold day, can't be done. Usually unsnap the dome, then need to fight to get it lined up and snapped. Tough and slow to do with cold fingers.

Way too small. I ordered my usual size and could not even zip these up. I’ll try the next size up but probably should skip 2 sizes.

I have three pairs of the previous versions these convertible pants. I have used them for hiking, backpacking, Canoeing, Fishing and Hunting in every season of the year and on 4 continents. All three of my existing pants are a size medium, so I ordered the same size this time when one of my existing pairs was retired. Sadly, this new version of the pants are cut slimmer than the older versions. I even went to a local store thinking I might have received an off-sized pair, unfortunately all the mediums were tight. I would have just purchased a large, but the pockets are so small I decided to look for another brand. The other turn-off is that the material is much thinner than the older versions. While I did not wear this new pair in the field, I find it hard to believe they will hold-up as well as the previous versions. TNF seems to have put in-the-city slim looks ahead of backcountry function. Please fix this on your next design iteration.

I've worn the previous incarnation of these pants five days a week for years. Seat seam just gave out, so was looking to replace them. Very unhappy that the pocket configuration has changed. The old version was nearly perfectthe new one, not so much.

I've been wearing North Face Paramount Convertible Pants as my "go to" every day pants AND hiking, camping, etc. pants for as long as I can remember (I've gone through several different designs) and have Loved Them. You struck out with this new design...you only have ONE color (that's bogus in itself), you got rid of the cargo pockets...(REALLY, on a hiking outdoors pant...REALLY!). Epic Fail.

These are terrible pants. The belt is built into the pants, so you can't use your own belt if you want. And the belt is far too long, so it dangles down because the nearest loop is on the side of the hip. I will have to cut the belt and hope that then ends don't fray. We shouldn't have to work on pants to use them. I wish that I could return them now, but it is too late.

I wear a 34 in nearly every brand. Sometimes I eek by in a 32. I bought a 36 hoping for a loose fit. They look and feel awkward, and are too tight even thought I bought a size bigger than normal.

I bought a pair of these several years ago and love them. I was thinking of buying another pair today but after reading the reviews, I'll pass. My old pair has four deep and convenient front pockets and two back pockets with velcroid flaps. Apparently, the "new improved" design lost some of these pockets. Too bad. Fortunately my old pair is still in great shape and perfect for my travels.

I agree with so many other previous owners. I had no criticism of of the original design, loved them and still do. The new design doesn't have the same fit, the material seems cheap and the lack of pockets take away all of the good point of the original pants. I'll be looking elsewhere until/unless the original design is brought back.

I have been trying to replace a couple pair of North Face Pants I bought a while back (a few years ago). These were the closest I could find and ordered 2 pair. Much to my dismay they are not even close to the quality that North Face used to be noted for and I returned them. Sizing and fit are off. I was shocked to see they are using a cheap snap for the waist. The fabric is thin and will not hold up to serious hiking, camping, etc. I'm writing in case there are other people who are encountering the same problem. But more importantly, I would like North Face to make pants with the same quality and craftsmanship we counted on for so long. Sorry North Face but I will look to other companies in the future.
