For someone like me who is not a boot wearer, these are the boots to get! Bought them specifically for a winter weekend with buddies in Vermont. Style AND comfort! Compliments galore! So guys.................buy these boots!

Very easy break-in especially for goodyear welted boots. The craftsmanship is tremendous and I love the combat/work boot style. I have the German leather waterproof version with the dainite sole -- very soft leather and they fit like a glove. I have three other pairs of boots (Loake wingtips, Frye chukas, and Wolverine work boots) I would say the quality of these is better than any my other boots. They are great all-around boots for the autumn and winter. Not really the best for trail or rough surfaces with the dainite sole, but perfect for everyday wear. I wore the Wolverines to mow the lawn and rake leaves, but aside from that these have been on my feet almost every day. I tried a size 10 first in the chromexel and didn't like the color or fit -- the return was easy and I wound up buying them again in 10.5 in the different color/leather. I think these will last for many years to come and only become more comfortable.

Boots are awesome. You can dress them up or wear with jeans. Very little break in needed. Not something that will hold up to everyday abuse but quickly at the top of my list

The boot is stylish and comfortable, was able to save some money because they were on sale. Thank you. I would like a more rugged look in the boot lineup.

These were a gift for my Father. We had a hard time finding the right boot for him. HE has a high arch, wide foot and narrow heel. We had ordered two boots from another company that did not fit him correctly. He loves what he has now. He mentioned that there was hardly any break in needed. Tells me everytime he gets a compliment and is happy with his gift. Thank you AE for always doing a great job.

Was looking at getting shoes or boots on Black Friday and I must have accidentally purchased the Higgins Mill Weatherproof with a Dainite sole. I definitely wanted them and thought well if they fit, look, and feel good I am keeping them. Definitely goes down as one of the best mistakes I've made, lol. The boots fit and feel great; the fitment took on the site was accurate and I am a huge fan of these boots. I wanted something a little fancier I could wear to work and not worry about weather and these fill the role perfectly. There is only one imperfection I noticed; but, it's so minor and invisible to others I don't care it adds character IMO. AE will definitely take more of my money after this purchase! Nice USA made shoes with quality components and I feel the price is a good value considering what you receive.

I purchased these boots because I thought they might be really good for winter since they are weatherproof. From the standpoint of staying dry, they work as advertised. Having said that, the boots provide very little insulation for the bottom of the foot and I find my feet are colder in these boots than when I wear regular dress shoes. These boots will be great in the spring, summer, and fall.

Quality and feel of the boot were both great. The looks would be perfect except in my size and width, it looked too much like a work boot and not the business casual look I wanted.

These are great boots, they look great but more importantly are very comfortable right out of the box. The soles have very good traction, can wear them for hours right away with no break in.

These boots are very durable, with a very good sole and appearance! They are available in several colors.

Turns heads. Leather is very supple. My cobbler loves them too, he wants to resole them when the time comes.

These are my third pair of Higgins Mill boots and I couldn't be more pleased with the comfort, durability and good looks while being assured that rain and snow wouldn't prevent me from wearing them. The fit is spot on and there was no need to break them in at all. I added these black ones to my two brown pairs. I wore the brown pair while traveling in Italy for two and one half weeks in January. They were extremely comfortable even after walking miles. I plan to add a fourth pair to my collection as these are my favorite boots.

Regardless of weather, they look & feel good always.

I like these boots. They fit well and look good. Comfortable out of the box but will probably get more comfortable as they are worn. The laces could be a couple inches longer but seem better each time they are worn.

Very good looking boot. Once they break in a little they are very comfortable. Surprisingly warm too. Laces could be a little longer, but that is the only negative I can think of.

I tried several other brands of boots, returning them all, before finding this Made in Wisconsin boot. I need room for a high arch and wide ankle, and this boot in EEE gave me the room I needed. I added an insole as I didn't need the full width, and achieved a great fit. This is full grain leather, so there is a short break in period. These are solid and not light weight. Not for hiking, but they should last for my lifetime around town. They look great with jeans or dressier pants.

If you're driving yourself crazy like I was looking for a versatile, waterproof, DRESS boot suitable for work and a night out your search is over. This is it. Hit. Buy. Thank me later.

Have four pair of Higgins Mill, two Dainite, two lugsole, all sized precisely the same, with good support through the footbed. They're each nice looking leather, well constructed, worth the premium price.

Looks I wanted to improve my colder weather style and I liked the versatility of these boots. They look even better in person and pictures don't do them justice. I wear them with jeans and midsize military style or leather jacket. I went with the Chili and think they compliment my style very well. Quality Everything about these shoes scream quality. The leather is medium soft and feels premium. The inside of the shoes are well finished and also have high quality materials. The dainite rubber sole is comfortable and sturdy, great for outside colder environment. FIt The shoes fit me perfectly and are very comfortable. I got my regular AE size 9.5 D and they are slightly roomier in the toe box which I like. After wearing the shoes for a day or two, they got very comfortable and are my favorite AE pair so far.

I read some of the reviews about how AE shoes aren't what they are supposed to be and I was somewhat nervous before making a purchase online. I bought these on sale around Christmas 2019 and they were factory seconds from a local store that only sells factory seconds here in Wisconsin. They measured my feet and the moment I put these on I didn't want to take them off. The 11E fits perfect, my knee feels better than wearing any other footwear, I get compliments on them everywhere, and I really enjoy the time I spend on maintaining the leather. I have had them about 6 months now, and if I was going to complain about anything it would be the dainite sole has worn a little on the back outer heel. I have always been a heavy heel striker so it was not a real surprise. I will just get that replaced when the time comes. The customer service had been great with a few questions I had and I am getting my second pair of AE boots in about a month. I am happy to be supporting an American company and one that is so local for me. There other boots and shoes I have seen have been in excellent shape, I think that some of the negative reviews may have been exaggerated.

The only reason I give the Higgins Mill 4 out of 5 stars is that I had to return two pairs due to quality control issues. An excellent boot that can be dressed up or down equally . I have worn it with jeans, khakis, dress pants, and a suit. I wear a 10D in athletic shoes and a 10D in the HM.

I bought the chili higgins with dainite and they look and feel amazing but as far as the weatherproofing being able to "conquer the elements...rain...snow" as advertised, not so much. These boots may have that work boot/fashionable boot look but they are more for mild precipitation. After six months of usage they began to take in moisture and soaked my socks a bit. Guess I need to spray them with a waterproofer.

Third pair of HM boots. Hands down,these are the most uncomfortable pair-it's like wearing two wood boards,but worse. The German leather is a great style choice and my feet have remained dry in heavy rain and even a couple inches of slush. However, the discomfort makes them a disappointing experience- almost feels as though somebody forgot the cork. Very odd; would not recommend.

I'm frustrated with the experience of buying these, because although the right boot was amazing and basically perfect, the left one had several issues, most notably an obvious cut in the leather that went through the welt and bit of the midsole--a cut deep enough that I wondered if it would affect the weatherproofing in that area (see photo). Had the left shoe been as nice as the right one, I definitely would have kept them, because they are everything I wanted in pretty much every category. Instead, I was forced to return them, because I can't justify paying this amount of money for a shoe with any obvious cosmetic defects.
