Bought these shoes with some other topos (the Magnifly3, wrote a review for those too, if you're interested) and LOVE LOVE LOVE them for trail running. I've always trail run in minimalist shoes on soft western trails but a recent move to the East Coast left my feet bruised and battered on sharp rocks, roots, and packed rocky soil. These bad girls have been a great alternative to my normal wimpy trail shoes. The rock plate works wonders and they are padded without making you feel like you're going to roll your ankle until it snaps. The tread is super grippy, even on slick rocks covered in wet leaves. The toe box is super roomy but the shoe ties down just right so you don't feel like you're sliding around. My new go-to trail shoe.

I was a true and through Altra fan but these shoes stole my heart. Love the wide toe box, zero drop and vibram oh so grippy sole! They needed about 20 mi to break in but they feel so good now. Sturdy and lightweight. Feel true to size for running shoes.

The best fit compared to any running shoe I've ever had. I use these for trail running and other soft surfaces, and tried also on road too. They simply feel great everywhere. I love the roomy toe box while the rest of the shoe is not too wide. The cushioning doesn't feel like too much, even if I'm used to less. The top of the shoe is not as breathable as some lightweight mesh shoes are, but so far so good.

Love the new design. It feels more structured which I like while still being really roomy. Great for my bunion, pronation, high arches, and all the other foot challenges.

Topos are my go to shoe for road or trail running. I love them so much I convinced a friend of mine who is currently through hiking the AT to purchase the runventure and she said they are doing well for her! As I plan my own AT hike, Topo will be my only choice!

I have 3 pairs of Topos. I use my oldest pair on my treadmill. I purchased my 2nd pair a half size larger so I could wear them with heavy socks in the cooler temps. My latest purchase was to replace my oldest pair which is my exact size. If you need lightweight shoes with a wide toe box I would strongly recommend Topos. I walk 4 miles a day on pavement, gravel trails or dirt trails. They are the most comfortable shoes I own. BTW, my husband wears Topos, too!

I trail run regularly (+/- 20 mi a week) on rocky hard dirt which is turning into wet slop and these shoes have been great and magically keep my feet dry. Super comfortable and grip the trails well wet or dry. I'm hoping they hold up for more than a few months like most other trail shoes I've gone through.

I love the Runventure 3 and use them for chunky trail and mixed surface runs (gravel and pavement). They have great grip and the heel counter provides solid lateral support for technical terrain. They move with my foot perfectly, don't alter my gait, and have just the right amount of responsiveness without being mushy or clumsy. I wear a women's 10.5, but since these aren't available in that size, I had to go with a Men's 9. (Please make these in 10.5!) I have a wide forefoot, narrow heel and low instep/volume. Although the men's version is wider than the women's, I lace-lock them and am able to get an excellent fit in the heel and midfoot with plenty of room to splay. I tried the Mtn. Racer first, but just couldn't get along with the more narrow forefoot and bigger drop of that shoe. For me, 0-drop is always best, and once I took these Runventure spidey shoes out in the woods, I was stoked to have found just what I was looking for!

These are great trail shoes if you're looking for something 0-drop. They are very grippy, even on steep, sandy trails. However, where they fall short is roads and other hard surfaces. When transitioning from trail to road, they feel lumpy underfoot and make a weird sound. As another reviewer mentioned, they could almost be described at plastic-like.
However, if you're hitting the trail, these are a good choice. You might just want to bring a change of shoes for swinging into a store after your run.

After trying Altra Lone Peaks and feeling like I was running in sand, a friend suggested Topo's. I purchased the RunVenture3 and absolutely love them. They have great grip on both the sand and rocky routes that I run in, and they are supportive through technical trails. In addition to the amazing grip, zero drop, and wide toe box these have a rock plate that actually works. On top of the feeling that the rock plate is actually protecting my feet, I feel a little bit of rebound from these as opposed to my Altras where I feel like I'm running in sand. These shoes have been used for only 60 miles, but I'm sold and will be using these for my 50k next weekend. Looking forward to how they perform for my 50k with 6,000 feet of elevation.

Disappointingly, the Runventure did not work did me. I was hoping this shoe would replace my Superior 4, as it would be a bit firmer. I love minimalist shoes.
The shoe ran big and I had to order a 1/2 size down. My original size was too long, the mid foot felt loose, and the heel slipped. Although the next size down fit in length, it proved a little narrow in the mid foot and I could feel the side of the shoe. Also, my big toes hit the uppers the whole time, so I would either lose a toenail or break through the upper.
I felt the foot protection was fine of moderate trail and have no complaints. I loved the weight of the shoe.
Before ordering a size I would talk to a customer service rep. I wear a 9 1/2 in the Magnifly 3 (my normal size), a 10 in the MT-3, and needed a 9 in the Runventure.
Topo customer service is excellent!!
( My personal taste: I think Topo could do better with their color palettes for women shoes. )

The fit for me just wasn't right. I wanted them to work so bad that I tried them twice. I have a pair of Topo road (st-3), and used them everyday. I love the feel and fit of the st-3. I hope that with some adjustments the trail shoe will fit like their st-3! I'm going to keep checking back in and looking for a good trail shoe. I do really love the company and would still recommend them. This shoe may work well for someone else.

I ran my first ultra 50K trail race in these shoes, love them! I was running in Altra's before and then they changed the model and were horrible. Found these ordered 2pairs and now I'm So sad they are being discontinued and not sure what to order next? ugh! I like zero drop wide toe room for my flat wide feet, less foamy cushion the better for me!

Love the snug midfoot and roomy toe box. Confidently handles snow and loose gravel, drains the creeks and even has a self-cleaning setting. Amazing shoe.

These shoes are so comfortable! Great cushioning. Good level surface, the heel is not high so my toes aren’t slammed into the front of the shoe! Love these… Toe box wide enough, no pinching! Yipee!

I bought the trail/hiking style for when we go on moderate hikes in the mountains or to wear on long walks with different terrain. I love the roomy toe box and how the laces can be tightened to hold my foot in place. I tried other brands for hiking and my feet were very uncomfortable. There is no need to "break" these shoes in, they feel great from the start!

I love my new topos. The size I got is perfect with no socks. I think I will go up a 1/2 size and buy another pair to have some to wear in the winter with socks.

I struggled in the past w shoes that quickly became too wide in the last (midfoot), that I couldn't lace them well. These fit perfect as soon as I put them on and have remained a great fit ever since. Thanks
So sad that the other pair I was waiting to add to my cart, didn't go up to a 10.5

I love the wide toe box. It allows my feet room to swell when it's hot and humid, and space to stay warm when it's cold!

I love the toe width. It could use a little narrower heel. I probably sent back 50 pairs of sneakers till I found Topo sneakers. My feet hurt. All sneakers have narrow toes no matter what they say. Finally a company that didn't lie. And, you need sandals that accommodate orthotics, like fisherman sandals. Most sandals are not orthotic friendly.
