I originally bought a 7.5 which is my typical size but they were much too big. I have a wider forefoot so I was afraid to size down at first but the toe box is very roomy and comfortable. I would suggest sizing down by a half size.

I always wear Salomon and this style is perfect for wet weather hiking or walking. I plan to buy another pair just to have a backup. Great shoe.

I bought this about two months ago. Before this, I had this show: "X ULTRA MID WINTER CS WP W" from the winter collection. I was living in Minnesota at that point and I was really satisfied with the comfort of the shoe and how it was keeping my feet warm. After moving to Philadelphia I decided to buy XA WILD GORE-TEX for hiking and also rainy days and I am so happy about this decision as well. This shoe is also very comfortable and you can have it on for a long hike or for a very long day at work (I am working in a research lab with sometimes more than 8 hrs stand up) and still feel good. We bought the equivalence of this shoe for my husband as well and he has the same opinion and now I need to convince him that he should not wear his Salomon shoe everywhere and should give his other shoes a shot!

These shoes are amazingly comfortable and great for a wider foot. Heel cup stabilizer prevents rollovers.

I bought this shoe to replace my size 8.5 XA LITE (which I loved and worked great for hiking and cycling). They did seem a bit long when I tried them in the store, but there was no size 8 to try and since I have some arthritis in my feet and they tend to swell I thought "better a bit too big than too small." However, good for cycling but just too long for hiking. Would recommend trying a half size smaller before buying.

I bought these shoes and I love everything about them. I bought 3 different styles of shoes thinking at least 1 will fit and I kept all three. I have a hard time finding a comfortable shoe due to bunions and ugly feet. I walk 2-3 miles in these everyday. LOve them

I love these hiking shoes! They are excellent for rough trails, there is a ton of support and protection around the toes and the sole is great for traveling over rocks.

My first impressions of the XA Wild GTX - love the colors and also super comfortable when wearing. The ortholite comfort is a great feature. The Gor-Tex keeps my feet super dry and comfy in wet conditions. After using the shoes a few times out hiking and walking I have found the heal slips when wearing thinner socks but not to the point where I would want to be sizing down . Definitely recommend for spring and fall hikes.

I'm usually between an 8 and 8.5, and the 8 was the right size for me in this model. I have bunions, though, and my foot is a bit wide at my toes. When I bent my feet in these, they pressed uncomfortably against my bunions. I need some more flexibility in that area. I also didn't care for the laces. They were easy to loosen, but annoying to tighten. It's too bad, they looked really durable, and the rubber toe cap would have held up against rough terrain.

I'm typically between sizes in Salomon shoes, but lean towards the bigger end. I love these shoes, but there's quite a lot of toe room--so much that my foot slides around--in my "normal" hiking shoe size (size 7), so I think I may need to return them. I'm going to try the 6.5s, and hope that they'll work for longer hikes where my feet swell a bit. Otherwise, the shoe is supportive and well made. Looking forward to getting outside with them once I find the right size!

I bought these online, last week and just got them. The sizing is a bit big. I'm and 8.5-9 is shoes and in my running shoes (New Balance) I go to a 10. So I bought the 9 and they were too big as another reviewer mentioned. I took them to MEC and swapped them out for an 8.5 and went for a 2-hour walk. They were great, so glad I got them.

Love the shoe. It fits well and has good support for my flat feet. The only problem I have is that the tie for the right shoe loosens when I have been wearing it for a while.

The replacement pair of boots on a warranty claim are also defective. I've hiked in Salomon shoes for at least 10 years and never had this much trouble.

Great hiking shoe but,not true to size for me. Width is perfect if you have narrow feet. Because they are too big they are really uncomfortable for downhill hiking.

There is a design flaw. To put the shoe on you must manually loosen the tie as it goes through the tongue of the shoe. To take it off, repeat the process.

After being recommended Solomon for running/trail shoes, I had high expectations for these trainers and they were my first 'proper' trainers and pair of Solomon's.
But even on my first outing in them, 3 miles, they were painful and rubbing on my heels, causing blisters.
I thought as they were new I needed to wear them in but each time I wore them the more painful they seemed to be, getting blisters on my heels each time. I tried readjusting the laces every time but nothing seemed to help. I never managed to do more than 5 miles in them and that was running and walking as it was too painful to just run in them. I bought these for a ultra marathon but I couldn't even do 3-5 miles in them.
I had to buy a new different pair of trainers for the race, compete waste of money.

The XA Wild (no gore-tex) is the only shoe that actually fit me (of 15 pairs of Salomons). A long time XA wearer, I thought these would be identically but are not. The shoelace across the toe bridge will do what you think it will, cut into the toe. It seems like someone thought it would be fancy or innovative, but it just dumb. It also did not fit the same.

I bought these 2.5 months ago and regret the purchase very much. I hike about 6 miles 3 times per week. On one hike in January, I had to cut it short because the heel cushions have already worn holes after one month of use and made my ankles bleed. I went to go on another hike today and noticed the pull string shoelaces are already frayed on one of the shoes. I have purchased 3 pairs of Speedcross shoes and hiked for many miles without issue. I went out on a limb with this purchase and regret everything about it.

I have had several XA Pro GTX and a couple of Speed Cross during the years and always replace with new pair when the old ones is worn out. For some reason my local dealer only had the XA Wild on the shelf when I wanted to replace my old XA Pro's, so I went for the XA Wild since I normally trust their advice for any hiking gear. Wore then at home for a few days and they seemed pretty good so on day 3 I went for a walk in nearby woods. After the first kilometer I started feeling okay this will give blisters on both left and right foot. Readjusted and continued my walk, but had to cut off the route since my feet started going numb and my heels was very sore. The XA Wild is very stiff and have these stitching inside the heel, so I thought they just had to be a bit "walked in" and then they will be all good. Now on week 3 I am very sure they will never change, I still struggle with very sore feet, even after just a short walk. I must say that I am very disappointed with the product. Went to the dealer and explained the situation, but they didn't want to handle the case since I had used the shoes outside. Not sure how I could have done it differently. Until now I have been all in on Salomon, now I am not so sure anymore and definitely not from the local dealer.
