These shoes were of good quality. Own literally 30 pair of SCARPA’s. As with my other pair of GoreTex-type shoes, they fit totally different than the NON-GoreTex Kalipes, which unquestionably fit better. I’d choose the non-Goretex shoes and Nikwax the hell out out them (which I have done to both pairs). All things asides, the Romanian build quality is 10 times better than anything I see out of China. Comparing to La Sportiva TX4 - this pair of Scarpa's gets only 75% of the way there. Scarpa's support is great, build quality is good however, they are just not comfortable and they are not worth the premium price. The suede is nice and thick, Vibram sole is grippy but after a half day of hiking climbing they get heavy. These are not a do-over. YMMV

Blisters on my Achilles heels. The lip on the shoe digs into them.

I have a wide foot with a high arch. In a running shoe I purchase 4e when possible. Finding an approach shoe to fit was a challenge and I am thankful that Zappos provides such a wide array of offerings. Of the dozen or so shoes I tried on these, like the other Scarpa offerings, were among the most comfortable. My eventual purchase was the Scarpa Zen Pro but I would have been very happy with these. I recommend upsizing 1/2 size.

Love the look and feel of theses shoes! Great for walking in! Didn’t care for the large SCARPA across the back heel of the shoe, but not a big deal. Unfortunately, I ordered a size too small, so this is on me, not the shoe. I’ll be ordering a larger size promptly.

I like wearing approach shoes during daily use for the ability to have agility in any situation. These shoes look good for approach shoes but comfort wise they are a big let down. The shoe bends towards the front which causes a pinch on my foot that is uncomfortable. Compared to my very similar La Sportiva Boulder X shoes the Kalipe is much less comfortable, but they are also a bit lighter. The Kalipe shoes have gor-tex which is nice but I never had a problem with water leaking wearing my Boulder X shoes. This is my first pair of Scarpa shoes so I can not comment on the brands overall comfort but as far as these shoes I would say find a more comfortable option.
