This was my only choice of extreme, off the grid trial shoe. I've gone through 2 pairs and then my third pair, purchased last year, 2019 something changed. The weak spots opened up 1 yr faster than the others. In one years use, far less tread wear, the material failed in exact same spot on both shoes . Where the shoes bends the most, small toe side . The material has changed from manufacturing. Not as durable. Now these shoes fit a wide foot better than any others, were extreme trail shoe, everything good. Now im lost as what to do because they have changed.

Great looking shoe, however the fit is very lose (and I have wide feet) so the footbed flopped under my foot when I walked. Also, this shoe has some sort of a plastic layer that crinkles and makes noise when you walk. VERY annoying so I sent these back.

Only 11 months after buying these boots, the fabric is torn from normal use. Good looking boots, really poor quality.

I am MASSIVELY DISSAPOINTED at this situation, with these shoes!!
There are so many technologies involved in making the shoe water-proof, BUT THE SOLE OF THE SHOE IS TOTALLY SLIPPERY, worst than walking on banana peels, and in a humid and rainy environment like Florida, I am risking falling at every step I make with these shows,
Perhaps some may claim that when hiking in mud and other terrains they might behave ok, and your feet will probably stay dry, but in standard wet streets, wet wooden floors, wet cement/concret roads, standard parks and street sidewalks, you are risking falling seriously to the floor and hurting yourself real bad when wearing these things. So much for the North Face brand and quality....
FORGET ABOUT RUNNING/JOGGING ON WET FLOORS, BE CAREFUL!! I understand they are not meant to be running shoes, but PLEASE do not think of doing it!
I am making arrangements to get my refund but wanted you guys to be on alert.
While wearing these shoes, there is a health risk involved! BEWARE!

I used the product mostly in the office, on some bike rides, and some hikes. I would recommend it for a limited set conditions. Nice business casual shoe, not a shoe I would choose over the original for hiking.

My original pair of Hedgehog Fastpack WP Wide were the best pair of hiking shoes I've ever owned. They lasted two years of hiking the trails, then they were work shoes for another year. The only thing I changed were the laces. The Hedgehog Fastpack II WP Wide are too tight. I ordered two pair thinking they would be exactly the same as the original pair I owned. Wrong... I had to ship them back and wait 6 weeks for a refund. No fun...

I have had these shoes less than a year and the material on the top is splitting and separating. Thought they would last at least a year since I walk an average of 3-5 miles a day.

This model replaced the fast pack hedgehog GTX shoe which I had worn successfully for about 6 to 7 years. Unfortunately this replacement model makes your foot higher and create some heel slippage for me. When I measured the material between the two models this model is a full 1/2 cm less material on the sides, and several mm less in the heel. This makes the tongue more exposed and makes it necessary to cinch down the laces tightly which is uncomfortable. I had to return them.

I walk an average of two hours daily on paved and moderate trails. Shoes are very comfortable.
They broke down across the toes in both shoes in 6 months. I am now wearing my old Hedgehog Fastpack WP because they are in better shape.

I bought this shoe, the low version to wear during short summer hikes, where heavy GTX boots are just overkill, or to wear around city. However, even in those cases its too hot and not comfortable. Yes, you would normally expect some breathability issues from waterproof shoes, but not that much.

This was the first time I had tried North Face shoes, and was very disappointed in their material quality. In less than a year, the mesh panel along the top of the toes has begun to split and separate. I am retired and I only do moderate walks and hikes, so it was not due to being exposed to extreme conditions. In comparison, the mesh on my 10-year old Columbia's are still intact. I contacted their Customer Service, and I would have to have my shoes cleaned and shipped to their facility at my expense for a review. Not worth my time or money because I would not want a replacement pair anyway. I'll just stick to their clothes from now on.

I have had several pairs of the NF Hedgehog GTX sneaks and was very pleased. However now in its infinite wisdom NF has discontinued the Hedgehog GTX and replaced it with this POS. Cheap, poor quality, flimsy, not the same fit, not sturdy, etc. - Town-boy sneakers - not even close to the original Hedgehog GTX. Way to go NF ! DO NOT PURCHASE !

Not what I expected. Not a good fit. Squeaked like a dogs toy when you walk and the quality just wasn't there. Returned.

There is no way my husband could ever become a cat burglar because you can hear these shoes squeak squeak squeak across cement. HAHAHA! In one year, I have purchased well over twenty TNF products and suffice to say, still laughing. It was a gift but, oh boy! Someone dropped the ball on this one.

I bought these for a trip on the AT. I took a month or so to break them in. They caused quite a bit of pain in my feet. At first I just thought it was break in pain, no, this could be the worst design of shoes for hiking I have ever come across. I've owned North Face products that are quality, but these shoes assured me that they are not in the footwear business. I will never buys shoes of any kind from them again. I did not bring them on the AT.

I had high hopes for these shoes. Instead, I ended up with too many blisters to count and 2, yes 2, big toes nails waiting to fall off from a 40 mi hike! Yes, I broke them in. Probably put a total of 25 miles (over 2 months) on them before taking with me on my backpacking trip. I am the only one in our group that had foot problems. 10 miles in, the shoelaces broke too. The metal eyelets create too much friction. No cushion or foot support. The inserts are paper thin. What a waste of money. I'll never buy a pair of NF shoes again
