These were a colossal disappointment. I was so looking forward to getting these. I loved the idea of three adjustable straps and a seriously rugged sole compared to other Birkies I own about 10-12 other Birkies, some with back straps and some without. Also closed shoes I ordered these in a size 40. HERE ARE THE PROBLEMS. The back strap adjusts on the inside of the sandal. So when you walk the strap ends stick out and brush up against each other. Awkward and potentially dangerous.. none of the other Birkenstock sandals with three straps close like this. The other two straps are sooo long , They are also way too long.. I really wanted to love these so ordered another one in a size 39 to see if the strap length would be shorter.. Even though the size is a “narrow” width, the 40 footbed is way wider than on the 39. The straps over the foot were shorter, but it didn’t correct the back strap problem..in checking the men’s version, the back strap affixes on the outside. Hate to write such a bad review, clearly Birkenstock’s Quality Control team, must have been out sick when thes were approved.. definitely “not a buy.”

They're bigger than any of my other Birkies. I have about 6-8 pair. Some with back straps and some without. The problem is even though this is a narrow, and I have a narrow-medium foot the straps over the instep are way too long. When the velcro is attached there are these big ends jutting out from both shoe. Looks too weird. They seem comfortable, but I haven't worn them yet, because I'm going to order one size down and see if that makes a difference. I will update this review then. It's too bad I have to rate this shoe with stars. I just want others to know my experience. When I"m done with this review, I will order one size smaller

This shoe was shown as having a back strap in the picture on the web site. The shoe I received did not have a back strap.

I love these shoes. I have not experienced issues like some of the other reviewers. The straps fit well and work well. I love love love the outsole and tread! Nice and grippy. I like that they're narrow as I have a very narrow foot. The arch support is perfect, like my other standard footbed (not soft footbed) Birks. I like the velcro adjustable straps for those days when my feet swell a little. The only thing I'm worried about is the cork getting wet as these are shoes I will want to wear everywhere. We'll see how that goes (I haven't had them long).

Although I have loved many Birkenstock sandals in my life, these failed me. The footbed was too wide and when I tightened the strap over my foot, the end of the strap stuck out past the shoe. I also disliked that the strap came across my foot below my toes. This was neither attractive nor supportive. Lastly, their was no support for my high arches. I wanted to love them but instead returned them.

I have horrible feet and Birks have always been consistently something I can relay on for walking around the house, summer footwear, etc. I have always struggled with summer sandals for water and have been wearing Chacos but they lack the mid- and forefoot support I need. I am very happy to have this water-friendly option to bring to the beach. For sizing, I find these to be very reliable and consistent with every other pair of Birks I've had over the years. I wear a 39 (reg width) and these fit just as expected. I also love the slightly softer sole--still supportive enough much like the newer soft insole options, but doesn't require the break-in period of traditional Birks.

Sandals are light and very comfortable. I like minimalist, classy style, adjustable straps & anatomical footbed with an excellent arch support. However, I wouldn't recommend these shoes for those with narrow feet.

I’ve been wearing Birkenstock’s for about 30 years. I’ve had my last Birkenstock sandals 20 years, had them a couple of times and just had them refurbished. They’ll probably last another 15 years or so. So when I learned Birkenstock has hiking sandals, I bought some. I’ve been on 3 hikes in 3 days since I received them. while I don’t consider them as stylish as my other Birkenstock’s, I am totally impressed with them as a hiking sandal. good traction, they stay put and are amazingly comfortable.

Disappointing. These didn't have the same level of Birkenstock comfort that I get from my Arizonas or Daloas. I actually find Tevas a lot more comfortable than these, and they look about the same at half the price. Can't recommend these unless you're really committed to this brand.

These are the summer sandals I've been waiting years for!! to be able to adjust the three straps for a perfect fit and not have to worry about them falling off my old feet is wonderful. They have the Birk arch support and a softer footbed than the cork and a rugged sole for all kinds of terrain--and they're waterproof! I got the light blue ones and they are very pretty.

I got the waterproof all black version of this style. They are great. I always wear a 39 in Birkenstock sandals and clogs and a 40 in shoes and boots. And the 39 fits perfectly. They feel great, right out of the box. They are sturdy, yet flexible. I have worn them for a walk in the city, and they really do have good grip and feel more stable than regular styles. I can't wait for it to be warm enough to go hike in them and really try them out!

I guess the shoe fit ok but all three straps were too long! I think this is shoe is built on a male's last and is for a wider, thicker foot. My foot is pretty average yet I had to tighten the straps as far as the velcro reached (& could have pulled even tighter if there were more velcro) but this created a long portion of the strap that wound around my ankle and rubbed on the inside of my foot. Not a well designed shoe in my opinion. Disappointing considering the quality Birkenstock is known for.

I sent them back. I loved the idea of them but the back straps caught on each other and the size was smaller than usual for Birks.

Unfortunately the shoe rubbed too much on tender areas of my small toes. As my feet have become more problematic as I get older I cannot unfortunately where the same style of Birkenstock as I could in the past.

Overall I love this shoe and really wish it fit me. I ordered these in the narrow because Birkenstock states that the narrow width accommodates many with a wider fit. They fit but I had no extra room along the sides so I will return.

Love Birkenstock shoes and was thrilled to find an outdoor sandal for golfing. I have difficulty finding narrow Birks so really happy you carry lots of narrow styles. I need good arch/metatarsal support that Birks provide. Thanks for carrying them!!

5 star sandal! well made, excellent quality. size 12 is a 45 in birks, regular width is a must. takes some time to break in, but well worth it.

I am looking for a pair of comfortable sandals for a trip to Asia. I loved the feel of the footbed and standing/walking on these. Someone mentioned the strap fastens to the inside of the ankle. I think that would be an issue unless I could think of someway to keep it firm to the side of the shoe. I was hoping for a 10 1/2 to 11…but not available. My left feet hits the top of the footbed when walking. It is the most comfortable footbed of any sandal I have tried so far! But the whole thing does not work.

These run a little wider than most women's M/W birks, which works well for me. They're comfy and a decent water shoe. They have more arch support than my Chacos. But they don't handle a current well. The velcro comes undone fairly easily.

These are typical Birks. Length is good and even though it’s called a narrow width it’s a perfect medium. A little stiff but I do like the adjustable straps. Straps are a bit scratchy but we’ll see. The jury is out on these so far.

I'm an 8.5 in several shoes and a 9 in athletic shoes. I have several pair of Birkenstocks in a size 39 so I ordered these in a 39 also. They fit fine, it's definitely the right size. The footbed feels different from other Birkenstocks. It's hard to describe but I feel lower to the floor and it just feels "flatter." While I don't have an issue with it myself, I can see what other users experienced with the way the straps are. The heel strap should be reversed so the overage doesn't hit the other shoe. I would like these more if the price was cheaper (they are too expensive for what they are), and waterproof. With the cork, I don't think I'll take these canoeing. I bought them because they were the only athletic sandals I can find with the metatarsal arch support.

I really liked these and hoped they would work, but the narrow is not wide enough. I usually take a D width in shoes and wides in Birkenstock. My fourth and little toes keep jamming against the edge even though I ordered a half-size bigger, and I know this will continue to be uncomfortable. So they are going back. Hope Birkenstock sees this. The Sonora which is a similar style also comes only in narrow. Disappointing!
