This bag is fantastic. The 1000D fabric feels very durable and high quality, as do the huge exterior zippers. I love the fact that it's got grab handles all over the place, and that I can carry it many different ways with backpack straps, single shoulder strap, etc.

I have had this bag for about two years. I am impressed with how well it has held up. I use it as my survival gear bag for work so it spends a lot of time outdoors and routinely gets tossed around. The internal organization is just right for smaller items, but does not take up any extra space when not being used. The two compartments on the inside of the lid fit freeze-dried meals perfectly! The shoulder straps are very comfortable, and the lifter straps make it easy to adjust to your liking.

This provides just what I needed in a duffel. I purchased the 40L and I've recently used it as a carry-on for international trip to South America. And it serves as a primary bag for shorter adventures. I love the two separate compartments - I use the larger one for shoes. The smaller one is perfect for dirty laundry or wet board shorts. The shoulder strap carry and backpack carry options are great, I use both depending on the situation. Great organization overall. Plus, the fabric is tough as nails. One time, the bag got lost by a South American airline, and when I finally got it back two days later, it looked like the airlilne did their best to beat it up. But other than some cosmetic marks, the bag is still in awesome shape. I would absolutely recommend it.

I did extensive research before purchasing the 50L Duffel/ backpack. (My primary hunting pack is also a Mystery Ranch so i knew this would be well designed and well constructed.)
This meets my requirements and is packed and ready for a trip to Africa.

Purchased the 55L Wood Waxed bag. Currently use it to carry my plate carrier, folded suppressed rifle, battle belt with pistol, and approximately eight rifle magazines There's room to spare. My rifle sits at about 25 inches long while folded with the can attached and this bag accommodates that no problem. I like the sling to carry the bag in a pinch but really love using the carry straps in the backpack configuration when maneuvering around the range. I'm part time Military, full time Police, so I've definitely had my fair share of trying out war bags. Best bag I've seen yet.

I bought this last year because I had a relatively unique scenario on my hands - I was flying to California for a wedding, but the bachelor party was a 2 day backpacking trip. Now I'm extremely cheap and didn't want to check a bag, so I needed something that would bring all my city gear and minimal stuff for a weekend in the mountains, plus be comfortable in the process.
I was the most comfortable groomsman on the trail, and I had zero issues with overhead plane storage - and that's with the 40L. The wood wax color is just a treat and I get compliments on it all the time. It's become my go-to bag for any road trips, and I'll even take it over my Glacier for weekend trips and brought it hunting last week for whitetail (which i tagged out).
My buddy bought the other duffel but I really prefer this one. Can't go wrong with way!

I have several packs from this company but really needed a duffel for traveling. The Mission Duffel has the same insanely good build quality as my other packs. You can tell there was a lot of thought that went into the making of this pack just like all their products. Absolutely recommend!!

Fully satisfied. Well constricted, stout bag. Waxed Tan Color is slightly greener than it looked in the photos, but not an issue.

Took it on a two week trip through Alaska. It held all the clothes and toiletries I needed. The detail pockets are well placed and a nice addition. The laundry and shoe pockets are what made me go for the bag, and I was glad to have them. Definitely recommend

Bought two mission duffels, one 90L in Shadow and one 55L in wood waxed for a trip to Vietnam. Bags were amazing, super functional but International customs lost the shoulder strap to my 90L. Rio replaced it, no questions asked. So happy to have my bag back to full functionality and will recommend Mystery Ranch to everyone.

I bought the MR Mission Duffle (40l) to use as a carry-on for fire assignments.
I haven't had a chance to use it for that purpose yet, but I have used it in another assignment closer to home.
It functioned as expected!
It is a no frills bag that does what it is designed to do!

I bought this bag about a month ago and have used for my street gear on a couple of trips now ranging from overnight to 4 day and I love it. Its just what I was after something between a backpack and a lrg duffel hold 4 changes of clothes and has ample zipper pouches for toiletries, eye ware, charges and so on. Durable, stylish and functional is what I was after and I feel what I got with this product

I purchased this duffel specifically to be a carry-on for flights and short weekend trips. Like all Mystery Ranch products, it is well built and stylish.
If I had to be critical, sometimes MR sacrifices organizational pockets for appearances. I would also add an interior strap to hold clothes on place.

I shopped for a new large duffel for travel for quite a while before landing on the 90L Mission Duffel. I watched and read a variety of reviews (mostly of the previous generation), and wasn't quite sure if I should buy the 90L or the 55L. Everyone seems to review the smaller versions. I was a bit concerned that the 90L would feel too huge when it wasn't completely stuffed with two weeks worth of stuff. It ended up being the perfect size for checked luggage for me.
After two trips with my new 90L Mission Duffel, I couldn't be happier. I was skeptical as to how useful the zippered upper and lower compartments would be in practice, but they've been game changers for me. The U-shape of the zipper allows for quick and easy access. I pack using some cheapo packing cubes, and since the entire duffel is so easy to access, I can pretty much drop it in a hotel room and live out of it for a week or two on trips without having to worry about organization or unpacking. As I end up with dirty clothes, I stick them in the upper compartment.
I was a bit concerned before I got the 90L that it might feel too huge, but even when half loaded, it's a nice, comfortable shape. It's light, and while it's large in height and width, it's not crazy thick, so it's really quite easy to carry and move to/from vehicles, etc. It scales for 1-2 weeks of travel really easily. I've found it especially nice for work trips where I have to lug along protective gear (hardhat, safety boots, etc) along with a weeks' worth of clothes.
Having handles on pretty much every available side makes the thing super simple to move around, and the shoulder strap has worked well. Haven't used the backpack straps much, but it's nice to know that if I end up having to walk a long ways with it, I have that option. They're comfortable, and while I wouldn't volunteer to hike across the country wearing it, I could easily walk as far as I needed to with it on my back.
The quality seems fantastic so far -- the zippers were initially a bit stuff and hard to work through the protective shrouding along their sides, but after a few days, they broke in and are easy to use.
Well worth the money, should last me a long, long time, and I'm very glad I bought it. It's my first Mystery Ranch product, and I've been extremely impressed with the quality and value.

I've had this bag for about 6 months now. I've treated it pretty rough as I use it for my assault pack in the field (army). What they don't tell you In the description is that in a pinch if you really need it, the inside storage pouches can be pushed out making the main storage storage compartment 5-8 L bigger. It's saved me a couple times.

I recently purchased the 55L and 90L. I was extremely pleased with the 55L as I was able to fit most of my load out with the exception of a long gun which is preferred anyway. The bag is extremely well constructed as expected with all mystery ranch products.
