I purchased these just over a year ago (unfortunately) and they look, fit, and feel exactly like I have come to expect from Merrell. I have several older pairs of similar Merrells and these are lightly used. I had only worn them when I thought I needed the newer, less-worn tread or the waterproofing. This was the case on a recent hike to Bald Mountain Trail in Oquossoc, Maine. Near the top, we encountered a marshy meadow. The casual water was never deep, but did cover the toe box when walking due to the spongy soil (see images). My socks and feet were immediately soaked and I had an uncomfortable walk down the mountain. I'm completely disappointed in this product as this usage was the only reason I opted for the "Waterproof" version.

Shoes fit a litter snug and and looked darker than they did in the picture. Tried thwm on and put them back in the box and returned them.

My last pair of Merrell Trailwik Mid hiking boots showed nearly no wear after 5 years. I Of course, Merrell discontinued what I consider to be the best hiking boot they ever made. I bought the Moab 2 Waterproof last winter. After 12-15 moderate hikes in the Arizona hills/mountains, chunks of the Vibram soles have peeled off! I bought the boot for the soles, because my last pair had Vibram. My Moab soles are either from a bad batch or Vibram is no longer worthy of their once stellar reputation.

Shoe lace eyelet broke after less than 10 uses. Need a buffer method to hold shoe lace.

Comfortable boot on the trail but what good is a hiking boot that's not waterproof. Shouldn't be described as a waterproof boot. "Good boot but avoid moisture" would be more appropriate".

Merrell has been my favorite footwear for years with over a dozen pair purchased. But this recent purchase of the Moab 2 Mid Waterproof is the most uncomfortable hikers I have ever worn. There is a seam joining 2 different materials on the inside that digs right into my ankle bone.

Boots are very comfortable. Took them to Wyoming turkey hunting and after walking through a couple inches of snow for a few hours my feet begin to get wet from the top of the toe area.

Bought Merrell hikers in 2009 that were Gortex, and they kept my feet dry - always. Just threw them out and replaced with these that have M Select DRY Waterproof. They don't even start to come close to being waterproof. I walk every morning, through wet grass, in light rain, whatever. Just got back from walking, had to change out my wet socks. Was only gone 20 minutes. Not waterproof. Money down the drain. All other features are OK.

Bought these 2 years ago in 2020. I have used them for day hikes and multi day backpacking trips. They were my favourite hiking boot on long hikes in all weather and terrain between spring-fall. They were very waterproof the first year and now my feet are getting completely soaked just from rain without being submerged in any water. I will have to buy another hiking boot for spring and fall as I already have a pair of snow boots. I was hoping to use this for most of the year but will have to leave it for dry summer weather only. Not waterproof enough for the Pacific Northwest.

I bought these shoes 8 months ago and the joints came off, it is not the first time that I wear shoes of this brand and the previous ones that I had lasted me 5 and 7 years, I am very disappointed in the brand, due to this situation.

In less than 12 months two of the lace holders pulled out. They are sewn in. Warranty was very good though. Received a new pair of different boots from Merrell. Also own another pair I've owned for 30 years. Just stay away from this design.

I was suspicious about this, but I couldn't tell during the summer when my feet were pretty sweaty anyway. Now that it's cold I confirmed that they did allow cold creek water into both boots when I stepped in water that was a few inches deep (see the photo). I got them in July and they have about 400 miles on them now, mostly on moderately hilly forest trails. They are great otherwise. I filled out a defective claim form. I've seen other reviews with the same complaint, it may be that they really aren't waterproof. If so, I'll need to go back to Keens and try my luck with the latest Targhee IIs.

Finally solved the issue of why my "dry" Merrells' caused my feet to burn and stink. I should have solved sooner as I wear lacrosse waterproof boots while hunting and would have to take them off mid-day and wear crocs during lunch . Evenings I would put the boots over a boot dryer and pour in powder scent killer. Hence , if they don't breathe, you feet will sweat and eventually cause bacteria to grow in the boot and eventually cause your feet to have issues. In other words, what is waterproof does not breathe! Moab dry is not for everyday working. So long merrells ..hello keens?

I bought these boots in March and started wearing in April. I have always been a fan of Merrell, so I bought two pairs, and planned on alternating for even wear. I don't wear them every day. After 7 months of light use while lacing up one day, one of the eyelets ripped out. This only happened on one of the pairs. So now I have one good pair and one that laces funny. As you can see from the photo, they're still pretty clean and weren't abused. Also if you're kind of in between sizes, I think they run a tad larger. I'm usually either a 9.5W or 10W. I bought the 10W and these feel a little loose.

"M select" aka big L select to me. I work on a farm so I was looking for some comfortable waterproof shoes for the summer. Your socks will be soaked with grass dew in under 60 minutes, trust me. These shoes are incredibly comfortable, but not waterproof for heck. I don't think they understand the word waterproof.

My son has exclusively worn this style of Merrell for several years without issue. They're always great right out of the box with no need for break in time. These were an exception. They're uncomfortable, his feet are hurting, and he's getting blisters after 2 days of wearing them. I don't know what Merrell changed but they need to go back.

I have had these for months and they are just so hard on my feet. I am 5'9" and 170 pounds. It feels like walking bare footed. I have had other Merrell shoes in the past that were fine but not these

I have owned the MOAB hiking boot for 4 years now and wear them to work almost daily. The claim of "waterproof " is extremely exaggerated and falsely advertised. Although, they are comfortable to wear, they are in now way waterproof. My socks and feet get wet just walking through wet grass. Highly disappointed with the MOAB hiking boot

They kept my feet dry ok in snow, but soaked through pretty quickly in dewy grass. Once wet inside, they are quite slow to dry, so have plenty of time to get stinky.

I bought my second pair of these boots in March 2020. By December 2020 (9 months) the toe cap stiches were deteriorating and the toe cap was coming away from the boot. Also the sole near the toe was coming away from the upper. I bought my third pair in December 2020 and these boots are only 4 months old. I walked through wet grass last week and the instep and toe area got wet and my socks got wet as well in about one minute. I don't know how Merrell can claim these are 'waterproof', they are not even water resistant. I see other reviewers have noticed the same thing. The best thing about these boots is they are really comfortable but otherwise they are made poorly and are not waterproof.
