I asked these for my birthday and I was so excited for the high arch support. Unfortunately the width is not as wide as their other shoes. I wonder if this was designed for a single person in mind? This shoe doesn't seem in line with their branding and promise of wide toe boxes for a more natural fit. Two stars because I think the arch technology is awesome and I got the burgundy and white which are SO CUTE. Unfortunately retuning because they aren't wide enough.

The mesh at the little toe developed a hole on both shoes and these are not that old. So having to replace much sooner than I should have to. The tongue slips to the side and requires either constant adjustment or just putting up with the discomfort. I'm a big Altra fan, but not a Provision 4 fan.

Toe space much too narrow for a shoe that is supposed to be designed for toe splay. My toes felt crowded just with my feet but I wanted these so I could wear Correct Toes. Very narrow!

This shoe provides absolutely no arch support (especially for someone like me with high arches) and the lacing is just weird. I have been a long time lover of Altra shoes, but this is just a no for me.

The strange arch and lacing connection has never felt good, and now has become actively uncomfortable on one foot. I need the stabbing feature of the Provost. PLEASE return to your earlier model!!!

I miss last year's model. I don't feel the same level of arch support with the 4. I also don't like how the heel counter is so low. Feels like my heel rides way too high and is coming out of the shoe. The width is still wide enough for my bunions. So that is fine even though others commented on it being more narrow.

Odd fit. Had a pair of Provisions for years, wore them until the soles were gone. This new version is weird. The heel cup feels short, slips off my heel easily. The laces (little fingers) are strange. The shoes felt tight across my instep and couldn't adjust the laces to to make them feel any more loose.

I've had a pair of Provision 3.5 shoes for a few years -- at the time they were a blessing for my bunion because of the wide toe box -- and when they finally gave out I ordered this latest model of Provision. I was *stunned* to see how narrow the toe box was on those shoes. In fact, the whole shoe was more narrow. The whole point of Altra, as I understood it when they were recommended to me, is the wide toe box. I could barely get the Provisions on my feet, and one walk in them was enough to convince me I wasn't crazy. After more browsing around the site, I found a number of reviews stating that the Torin 4 was more like the old Provisions in shape, so I ordered a pair and found I agree with those reviewers. I even took photos of all three shoes together, to prove to myself I wasn't crazy. The Provisions went back and I bought a second pair of Torin 4 for when the first pair wears out, because I'm not sure I can trust the next model of Torin won't be redesigned poorly, too: if you read enough reviews here, this seems to be a trend with new models of Altra shoes. I truly hope they are listening to those of us who depend on a good, solid, wide shoe to stay active.

I had the provisions 3.0 and loved those shoes. I figured these would be just as great. Well, they are just OK. The toe box is narrower and the holes for the lacing are strange. The tongue is irritating and the part that presses against the Achilles heel is too short. I think I'm going to use these just for casual wear and find another pair of running shoes:-(

I love Altra. Have fun in them for YEARS. However the last 2 pair I've bought from yall have been duds. The first one was a lemon and caused horrible back pain, and this pair has worn a hole In the sole after 2 months. I'm so disappointed. Altra was the first shoes I could wear that didn't hurt my toes, I love the wide toe box. But I may have to find a different brand. I can't keep buying shoes every 2 months. I usually only have to buy 2 pair per year.

as an over-pronator, this shoe is everything I wanted and more!! BUT, I wear a size 7.5 wide and altra does not make wide shoes. I found that the heel cup of this shoe was more narrow than shoes typically are. Please start making shoes in wide sizes! I love everything about altras but can't wear them.

I bought these for medium to long runs. I cannot wear them for anything longer than 1 hour. The tongue is thick and uncomfortable. It rubs the top of my foot. It creates a hot spot and has even left a bruise. Was super excited about these, but think I'll stick with the Paradigm for now. I think they are true to size, just the design of the tongue does not work at all for my foot.

Several years ago, I found Altra when looking up shoes to wear with Morton's neuromas. I had almost given up running due to the near constant pain from my shoes, but the extra room in the toes made all the difference. I usually wear Torins, but decided to try a different model. The Provision is a nice looking shoe, but after wearing them on 3 runs, I was waking up at night with pain in my feet from the neuromas again. I measured the toe box and the Provision is 1/4" more narrow than the Torin 4. It doesn't sound like much, but that 1/4" is the difference I need to be able to run without pain. Unfortunately, the Provisions are going back.

The new way they have of lacing the shoe is very uncomfortable and places a pressure against the foot. The shoe does not feel wide at all , very awkward, uncomfortable fit !! I have owned several pair of Altras, they missed the Mark with these.

The Provision 4's are the worst shoes I have ever owned. Super narrow toe box. The design itself is so flawed, the sides bow out as I walk. I had a bunion surgery a few years ago and these rub right across my scar. These shoes don't even feel like Altras, they're so narrow. Super disappointed. I bought two pairs because in the past these have been my favorite shoes. Now I'm just out a few hundred dollars.

I came to Altra because they had been recommended for the wide toe box. The first pair I ordered, the solstice xt, had a super roomy toe box but was lacking in arch support. So I returned them and ordered these because they were a more supportive shoe. While I can say that the arch support was much better and shoe was cushy, the toe box was soooooo small. Smaller then any other sneaker I have ever purchased. This shoe is so narrow that at least half my pinky toe was hanging off the side. Seems from other reviews that they were bought out and changed the design of some of their shoes. Such a shame because people who don't need the toe room can literally buy any other shoe from any other brand. These are going back.

The new lacing system does not lie well. There is no tongue stay so the tongue ends up all the way to the side.

I just went for a walk and could only make it .6 miles before I had to stop and take these shoes off. They make my socks ride down and make my left foot feel like something is in the shoe under the ball of my foot/numb. I never write reviews but I feel this is much needed so hopefully the 3.5 or something comparable will return. I would give this shoe a 2 or 3 star if I could wear it and not workout in it, but I honestly think I wasted my money because I can't handle the shoe on my foot. Maybe it's because it runs smaller than the previous shoe does but I've had 4 pair of the 3.5 with no issue so I ordered the same size in this version and it's definitely smaller. On the plus side, the shoe is a nice looking shoe.

The shoe needs a firmer insole. I never felt like I was "one with the shoe". The reason I purchased the shoe was for the large toe box which was great as was the "styling", however I quit wearing the shoe after a couple of months because the support was too "squishy".

I absolutely loved previous versions so I was excited to try this. I could not have been more disappointed. The thing I hated the most was the heel. The extra padding around the ankle base was super bulky and caused to much friction. The toe box was much smaller, too. Wide toe boxes are crucial to me which is why I went to Altras in the first place. So sad to see such a great shoe tank so hard.

The inseam of the stability mechanism inside of the shoe is exposed and you can feel it through the thin insert. This causes wicked blisters. I actually got the first replaced thinking surely this was a manufacturing defect but the replacement had the same issue. I have heard great things about Altra but ... I won't be a return customer as this is just sloppy design.

I've been wearing Altra shoes since training for my first marathon five years ago. I've never had a problem with comfort until this shoe. It feels too shallow, too narrow. Blisters and rubbing whenever I run in them. The lacing system is terrible. I don't actually run in these shoes anymore, they're all right to walk in if I am not going very far, but you start putting impact into these shoes and they feel awful.

Cushion rating is inaccurate. Feels very hard. Very few miles and heel counter is blown out. Blisters in places I've never blistered before. Love the roomy toe box, but overall very disappointed.

I love Altra shoes and will never wear another running shoe, so I was excited to try the Provision 4. I was immediately disappointed when I pulled them out of the box. The wide toe box that makes Altra running shoes so great, is nonexistent. I then put them on and was disappointed again, I have a narrow foot and my heel slipped out of the shoe the whole time I had them on. The toe box felt like any other running shoe brand and the middle portion of the shoe was extremely uncomfortable. Altra, please do not start narrowing the toe box.
