I needed a comfortable, supportive sneaker for 5 to 6 mile walks and the VIHO is psrfect! I am a size 10, but, for longer activities I bought a size 10 1/2 to accommodate thicker socks. Otherwise, I believe they are true to size.

I have so many foot, knee and back problems and this is the only shoe that makes it all better for me.
I knew from the first time I put the shoes on, that these would always be the shoes I would continue buying. I have not been disappointed. I Love Altra

I've searched for years for a comfortable fit for my wide feet and the need for extra toe room. I stumbled upon add and will never go with another sneaker EVER! Soooo happy!

VIHO is the best fit for feet with wide toe box and narrow heels. That is my foot profile.
Generic sneaker makers tend to believe that those of us who need wide or wider toe boxes also have big, chunky heels. Maybe some of us do. But there are also plenty of us, for whatever reason, who have narrow heels. With generic brands, we either size up to compromise the heel part, wobbling inside, wasting foot energy and speed or, torture our toes so that the heel part fits ( another kind of Cinderella).
With VIHO, i no longer have to trade off any part. I have not had a pair of sneakers that fit me so well in years, Easy Spirit, Naturalizer, Nike, Keds, Sketcher. Some Adidas and Merrell styles worked with my feet at some point. VIHO even beats those.
Also note, i have tried VANISH R, VANISH XC, TORIN 4. Torin 4 is very similar to VIHO, but with subtle differences ( difficult to articulate here). The difference is not ambiguous, though, as soon as you put it on. For me, i can tell right away which one provides an even better fit .
The two VANISH styles have open mesh upper which makes me feel that the sneakers do not provide that little bit of support for the front part of my foot. For you, maybe you would like it for warmer weather.
Thank you, VIHO design team , for creating the shoe mold as if you had taken measurements of my feet.
ILOVEaltra,

Loving these! They are the closest feel of my Timp 1s which I loved and wore daily. The new Timps just don't cut it but these, the Viho, somehow feels quite comparable. I'd like a little more arch support, but they are comfy, stay in place, and great for daily use, long walks, or jogging.

Relative to the maximum cushioning of other Altra shoes which were defective the Viho along with thinner cushioned soled shoes like the Superior 4, and the Lone Peak 4's have been excellent.

I run three to four times a week, each run usually about 2-3 miles long on concrete with some stairs and fair hills. I'm a beginner-level runner so the Vihos were a great choice in terms of price point.
I've been slowly transitioning into the Vihos from my 4mm drop running shoes. Although these still give my calves a good working, I prefer them over my old running shoes any day! I can tell a big difference in the quality of my running carriage, my knee and back pain, and the strength of my lower calves with the Vihos. Super glad I got these.
(FYI though, I do tie them in a pretty non-standard way to widen them up a bit.)

This is a great shoe, kind of in-between the escalante and the intuition. However, I bought a half size up based on the online reviews and they are too big. Therefore stick with your usual size.Just the right amount of cushioning. Where the fabric changes near the toe box, it feels a little strange when you push off mid stride.
I love antra because of the foot shape and of course the zero drop. This shoes still has the wider toe box but it appears less like a toddlers shoe. I love them!

I love the style, color, and toe box. I had to order a half-size larger than I normally wear in a Saucony shoe. The first time I wore them outside walking, I got a blister on my heel; I'm hoping once they're "broken in" everything will be fine.

I was looking for a shoe to replace my Solstices as my second pair (I alternate between Escalante's and another pair). The Solstice weren't available, so after consulting my local running store, they recommended I try these. I was not expecting much after the reviews that I read, however, I was so pleasantly surprised and these are now my favorite Altra shoe ever! I have been running in them now for weeks. I typically use them for shorter, speedier runs. And let me tell you, I feel like I can fly in them! No idea why, but I feel the urge to run faster when I'm wearing them. I decided to try them on a few recent long runs (14-16 miles each time) and again, they were perfect. I love the fit, they feel cushioned, yet very solid. They do appear to be more narrow than some of the other models, however, I will also add that I have major issues with my toes (arthritis in my big toe along with swelling) and I am so particular about how something fits and feels on my foot and this shoe causes me no issues with that. I hope this one sticks around! Every time I fall in love with a model, it seems to end up discontinued.

It's true you have to go about half size up on this shoe and the toe box doesn't feel as wide. However, sometimes I can appreciate a little wrap on my foot and it's still roomy enough. The shoe feels nicely cushioned, but still close to the ground and it gives a bit of a push off mid-foot, which was a great surprise! The more I run in them, the more I prefer them. They might even be marathon race worthy!

Really liked this shoe. I wear a 9.5 in most all athletic shoes, this fit well. It is a bit narrower than most Altras but worked for me. Sadly returned because of a defect in the shoe.

First and foremost I love this shoe! For years I have been buying men's shoes because I need the extra room in the toe box to accommodate my bunions. This was always frustrating because the rest of the shoe never quite fit perfect and I was sick of always wearing the men's color choices. I have worn Asics, Brooks, Hokas but had never tried Altras so I thought why not? I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. I wasn't sure on sizing so I tried the women's 11 but when they came I thought they seemed a touch too short. Because there isn't a half size I was a little worried about jumping to a 12. I ended up calling customer service to talk about the sizing, she was so incredibly helpful and encouraged me to wear the shoes to really get a feel for whether or not they were going to be too small, but at the same time said the jump from 11 to 12 wasn't as big of a jump as you might think. Well she was right on both counts. Wearing the 11 proved that "yes" they were too small and "yes" the 12 was a nice moderate jump in size.
I run about 90% outside and the rest on a treadmill ( when no other option) putting in 20-40 miles a week. When I run in these shoes my body seems lighter and more in proper alignment. I'm a true believer in Altras and have been telling everyone about these shoes! I have the purple now but I may have to invest in the teal!!!

I am an Altra loyalist. Ever since I was told about these shoes, many of my foot issues have improved. The toe box of the Viho is a bit smaller but I do like the “rubberized” form of the shoe. There are less sewn areas around the forefoot, which for people with “foot deformities” like bunions, old injuries/ surgeries etc, means less places for pressure sensitive areas. I do miss the extra padding in the soles. It’s a plus/minus for me. Gotta see how these bad boys break in. Also this is a NEUTRAL foot bed so if you use a medical insole it is great. If you need arch support, this is not the shoe for you.

Great looking shoe! Not a blast of color as Altra is known for. The fit is good, tho the toe box is not quite as squared as other Altra's I've purchased.

I really do want to love these shoes. For some reason the right shoe has caused pain on the top of my foot. I'm not sure what caused it. But when I put them on I can feel the spot immediately. Maybe I need to try a different version...

Like the looks and comfort if the shoes however when I first put them on it feel that it is tight at the bottom of the laces across the top of the foot. Other than that I like the shoe and the comfort. I haven't run in them yet just have done work outs in the house.

Please, please bring back the Intuition. That was the best shoe out there for fit and comfort. I've tried others here, but not the same comfortable fit. Just by reading the reviews here, I choose not to buy this style.

The shoe laces are really short and the height of the shoe is a little tight. But overall comfortable and fit well and really cute!

After returning several Altras that didn't work, I decided to try these. I don't agree with others that the toe box or heel is narrow. It is a good fit for me and I have pretty wide feet. I run about 15 miles a week in these. The only thing I struggled with at first was there was something rubbing the bone on the top of my left big toe. It felt like the tongue but no matter how I adjusted it, it still hurt. Because I was running out of options, I just kept running in them and now they're ok.

I really liked these Altra's. They didn't make my foot look huge and the color was great. However, they did not have the cushioning in the arch that I have with my Torin Altras. I have a .lot of arthritis in my arches and need the cushion, so I am having to return them.Mi

I normally wear the Escalantes but the newer versions aren’t as comfortable in my opinion.
Tried these out today for a 2-mile walk with the dog and they seem pretty good so far. My feet are not narrow and the width feels fine. They are cushioned without being marshmallow-y.
