The Ghost Whisperer/2 Jacket is much more than I had expected.
I was looking for a cool weather, lightweight jacket I could wear for running in cooler weather.
I was excited to find the jacket is very warm, even when the temps drop below freezing, with a light wind.
The Ghost Whisperer/2 has become my go-to running jacket for cool (and cold) weather!

Warm, feather-light and packable as promised. Two side zipper pockets are large enough for hands and a few stowed items. Very comfortable!

This is my second Ghost Whisperer jacket. My first one is about six years old and is still in great shape, save for a couple places where the stitching is coming undone (I might talk to warranty about that...). I also have a StretchDown jacket, but I prefer the Ghost Whisperer, as it provides better protection against the wind. I can layer the Ghost Whisperer with a light merino wool sweater and be plenty warm in temperatures well below freezing.
It's also perfect for traveling since it's so light and warm. I love that I can stuff it into its own pocket and use it as a pillow on the airplane. It was a no-brainer to take it with on a three week trip to Ireland and France in the early shoulder season. I would buy again in a heartbeat.

This thing is such a great jacket to bring along when it might get chilly. Light enough to pack it and forget it until you need it. Looks good if you want to wear it to the biergarten too. Great for using as a layer under a shell and cool colors. I've got a few now.

Pros:
The product team at Mountain Hard Wear named this jacket perfectly. At 8oz, you won't believe how light this jacket is. I've eaten bags of snack-sized doritos that weigh more than this thing!
I bought this jacket to wear while sitting in hockey rinks and on the sidelines of football and soccer fields in the fall and early springs in New England. I've owned mine for about 8 months now and it still looks brand new. The fabric has held up perfectly and it has exceeded my expectations.
While wearing the jacket, not once have I thought to myself, "I should have put on a heavier jacket." The thing just works! It's not waterproof but holds up nicely in a sprinkle or light rain.
I won't wear it by itself when the temp drops into the freezing zone, but I certainly will wear it as a liner with the various shells I own.
Fit:
I'm 6'3, 215 lbs and wear a 44L sports coat. My Large "Ghost Whisperer" fits like a glove. (I am athletic and like my clothes a bit on the trim side. If you're around my height and you don't usually buy trim fit dress shirts because they are a bit snug, go for the XL)
Cons:
I have to figure out a way to keep my two high school aged son's from stealing it!

This jacket doesn't serve every need. But what it does, it does perfectly.
This jacket is far warmer than you'd expect for how thin and light it is. I wore it with only a t-shirt underneath, as my mainstay last winter in Boston, MA. I was never cold with it, even well below freezing. The shell material blocks wind & cold perfectly. It's not water-proof, but it holds up in light rain just fine.
It is amazingly light. Any time I hand it to someone, they're shocked how light it is.
I also used it as a layer when skiing in both cold and wet conditions, and it held up great.
It compresses down to almost nothing, so if you're into backpacking or traveling light, this jacket is wonderful.
I have two gripes:
I wish it had a chest pocket...I want to use the hand pockets for warmth, without having to worry about dropping my keys or something when I take my hands out...
I wish the down fill were better contained. Every time I wear it, at least one feather floats away. Considering what this jacket costs, I don't want to see feathers coming out...
Okay, three: Price. This thing is expensive. I only went with it because I had the chance to buy it at a discount. But I've seen it on sale pretty often. So with that, or if price is not a concern for you, then this is a no-brainer if you want a light jacket that has the warmth of a heavy jacket.

I really like this jacket. It is lightweight, keeps you warm and fits well. I like the longer sleeves that slightly cover the hands. As part of a layered system for keeping warm, it works well. I wear a wool base layer, nylon shirt, fleece jacket and hard shell in very cold and windy conditions. The only complaint I have with this excellent jacket is the tiny, somewhat cheap zipper. It is impossible to get this zipper started with seeing it. In other words, if it is dark you can't feel your way to get the zipper started. I wonder what will happen if I'm stuck someplace in the cold and dark and I need to get the zipper in place to zip up. I could be fumbling for a long time. Mountain Hardware - please make the zipper larger and better quality and you will have a perfect jacket.

I previously had the old version of the ghost whisperer, which last 8 years of good use by two owners, until the zipper broke. I bought the new one and the fit is not as good, it is really tight at the armpits. Maybe there is a good reason for it, to better keep the warmth I do not know. But it drove me mute. I went a size higher because of that. Took a large, 5'9 175 lbs and the fit is ok.

Extremely lightweight, and warm. It's a really tight fit with only a t-shirt underneath. Go a full size up from what you normally get, esp if you plan on some layering.

This is a very nicely cut and made jacket. Perfect weight for what I wanted. Sleeves are longer than others I have tried - really great. One disappointment is the color. I ordered "Moon Moss" which looks like a nice copper with maybe a hint of green on the web photo. It is brown.

I wish Mountain HardWear would trim the torso down on this coat. Then add an ounce more down, tougher zippers, and you'd still end up with the same weight. It would just fit better and be a bit warmer. Two other gripes: need velcro at the wrists and the sheen can be a bit off putting... Otherwise a great jacket for cooler, but not cold, months.

Zipper on this thing is tiny. It will likely break but other than that it seems good but not worth the price.

Jack it's self was just okay, very odd fitting with marrow shoulders and extremely long sleeves. It is very light and felt very delicate. In the end I returned and went with a Patagonia nano puff.

I purchased this jacket to replace an L.L.Bean jacket of similar style. First off the jacket runs small, I had to return the large to get the next size up. Second it's not warm at all. It may say 800 fill down but there isn't enough down in this jacket to cover a chickadee. Not worth the money when you can find other options at or near the same price point.

I previously owned a Ghost Whisper and ordered it around 2019-2020 time range and it was a good jacket that fit correctly. Bought the Ghost Whisper
2, ordered in the same size as the Ghost Whisper and it is extremely tight in the shoulders, chest and arm pits.

Great materials, quality down - terrible design. Not sure when they changed the cut and design of the Ghost Whisperer / 2 but I recently purchased a new one in XL and it is so tight in the armpit area it renders it useless for any activities that require articulation of the arm at the shoulder. Why would they change this? So disappointed with several recent purchases

This is a really lightweight and warm jacket but the the main zipper was very troublesome. It would sometimes not connect right and then it was almost impossible to get it back on track. I decided to put a safety pin few inches from the bottom and slip the jacket on like a pullover. For the price you guys really need to work on a better zipper. I couldn't find anyone to replace the zipper. Other than that it's a great jacket!

I love the fit and function of this jacket, but a lack of any abrasion resistance to what seems like nearly everything has left me with several small tears in the fabric exterior over the first month of wear, leaving much to be desired.
I have made three agents and follow up to customer service, but only responses have been "we're busy and will get back to you"...so, on top of the fact I spent $300 for what has become a house work coat as I can't wear out because of tears and leaking filling.
I wish I would not have purchased.

I was surprised when i received this jacket since I read a lot of good reviews. First, the fit was just off. I thought that it was supposed to be a little snug since it was meant for layering. The it was very boxy and not appealing at all. Second, there was barely any filling. My husband tested it outside on a 35degree-day and he said he felt the cold after 15minutes outside. I say it's not worth the price even when discounted.

The Ghost Whisperer 2 is designated as being "true to size" - this is absolutely false. The jacket is absurdly tight through the shoulders and under the arms. As nice as it looks, wearing this thing is a miserable experience compared with that of comparable down jackets from other manufacturers. This renders the garment basically UNUSABLE, and anyone would be ill-advised to choose the Ghost Whisperer 2 unless he is a very thin individual. (I am have a normal, somewhat athletic build, not thin, but definitely not fat. Mountain Hardwear used to fit me, but this thing is just useless and frustrating.) This seems to be yet another example of a major company downsizing its garments in order to 1.) Save money on materials (making things undersized means using less materials = saving money - as stupid as this sounds, and 2.) Designing working outdoor gear to look good on a tiny fraction of the populace which are built like tall, lanky male models so that the items LOOK GOOD on the male models they use in catalogs. Personally, I'd like to see Mountain Hardwear STOP USING MODELS to present its gear, and instead, use real people to illustrate the usability and real world strength of its products. But... Madison Avenue probably has other ideas, so... we end up with flashy, badly designed gear like the Ghost Whisperer 2, instead of a jacket that would fit normal human beings and be a worthy, useful part of an outdoor wardrobe.
