Definitely shorter than previous models and the toe box is more narrow , too. Have to return.

The NB 940 is narrower than my last 940. It is also a tiny bit shorter than my others. Also it hurts the right side of my right foot. Something wasn't cut or trimmed correctly mid to back. I'll have to return them.

This 940 has the hardest sole. Could not stand it with my mild neuropathy.

I love these except I've only had them for 5 months and their is already a small hole above my big toe on my left foot. I've run into another woman who had the same issue...wish they would reinforce the material from the inside to prevent this. I had a previous pair that lasted a year before this same thing happened! I walk (not run!) 5-6 days/week average of 2-3 miles each time, longer on weekends.

The wide toe box on this shoe was just a little too narrow for my biggest toes. By contrast the NB 840v4 is roomier at that point. The overall fit of the shoe was also similar to NB840v4, with a few pressure points that for my particular feet made it less comfortable. Good cushioning. Breathable. The fabric cover over the toes is stylish this year, but not practical if you use the shoes for anything but running on a smooth surface. Definitely not a trail shoe, and even a slight toe bump, dirt or rock or gravel path, or stumble would tear the otherwise attractive covering quickly. The NB 840v4 has the more conventional solid yet flexible covering wrapping front of the toes. Finally, it has a slight chemical odor. Not enough to be bothersome wearing around the house during the day, yet filling my closet overnight. I liked the look and cushioning and accommodation to my high instep, but these are going back.

I really wanted these sneakers to work, I like the style very much, however, after trying three different sizes sadly they simply do not work for me. The collar hit my ankle bone and made it very uncomfortable. :(

I use this shoe as my every day shoe. It is not what I expected. It's really ugly and way bigger than a 9.5 2E. It makes my feet look like boats.

This is the second pair of NB shoes I am returning. NB just do not fit like they have over the past 20 years, which is a huge disappointment for me, it is the only running shoe I ever wore. The 940v4 has a nice padded sole, however, the fit is missing. I like the breathable mesh, but somehow they manage to hurt my feet and bunion. Also the heel does not grip properly, and my heel slips out of the shoe with every step. I do not like the changes NB has made to their shoes to compete with other Brands.

These NB sneakers do what they said they would do. They support very well for plantar fascitis and high arch issues. However, no matter how I lace them the tongue shifts to one side and the shoe digs into my foot. I solved this with a small piece of velcro t on one side to hold it in place. Despite the tongue being held in place the top of the shoe fits so high on the foot that it hits your ankle bone. The tongue pads it well enough now but it is annoying. I have opted to keep the shoes with the fix I did because they have such good arch support but I would not buy another pair. Pandemic woes when you can't try before you buy. Exchanges are a pain.

I have worn New Balance for years and they are absolutely the best fit for my troubled feet. This particular style is great for my arthritis and bunion. I am very disappointed, however, in how quickly these shoes wear a hole in the big toe area. I have bought three pairs, hoping it was an anomoly, but the same problem with all three. I hope NB will address this problem, as I notice others have mentioned it as well.

it fits, but a little loose in the heel for a narrow shoe, also, wish the toe box was a little longer, my toes go up to the top, with little room. however I tried the 9 N and was way too big in the heel

I have worn an 8.5 W in New Balance shoes for years and never had issues with the toe box being too narrow. However, on these, my pinky toe rubbed. I will return them.

I really like new balance, But! They should but a piece of leather inside the shoe at the toe area.

The shoe itself is very good quality. I enjoyed every other part of it. However, the inner side of the shoe would dig into my ankle. This part of the shoe was also very firm and strong, so it was uncomfortable. It could've just not been a match for my foot. Returned the shoe.

I have worn NB 940v3 for many years and loved them. This new version bears no resemblance to the v3. The foot opening is smaller and higher, as others have said, so that it is painful to the top of the foot and ankle bones. My orthotic fit fine in the v3, but it doesn't fit here. The tongue is very thin, with no padding, and short, and slides to the side, again causing pain when laced up. It doesn't seem as cushioned. Had to send them back.

Not enough depth to accommodate a Powerstep Insole. I removed the factory insole and put in my Powerstep Pinnacles and the shoe it not deep enough around the ankle area. My foot sat too high and felt like it was coming out of the shoe. Also the very thick, hard padding around the ankle really hurt around my Achilles tendon and the area under my ankle bone. If the shoe was just a little deeper that would probably fix both issues, but it's too shallow so I'll have to return. So disappointing because it has good support and good cushioning, just not deep enough. I'll keep wearing my New Balance 990v5 shoes which have plenty of depth and the Powersteps fit well in them. New Balance only makes 2 models that have enough depth -- the 990v5 and the 928v3. The company's focus has really shifted and is now on trendy "colab" shoes and no longer on good, supportive shoes and foot health. Now it's all about flashy lifestyle shoes in collaboration with young designers who pay no attention to support and foot health. New Balance has lost its reputation among podiatrists and orthopedic/sports med physicians -- and those of us who for years have counted on NB for supportive, stylish shoes. Many podiatrists and orthos have stopped recommending them. It's obvious why.

Was not happy with the fit, they felt very stiff and the right sneaker rubbed my ankle. Very uncomfortable. I typically like new balance, but my feet were not liking these and I bought them specifically for long distance walking.

i used the 990 and was so so happy. i suffer from plantar fasciitis and had a very hard time finding a good orthotic. long story short. i found the 990 and together with my orthotics i was pain free for 2 years. now there is no 990 in size 7 so the shoe store i went to gave me this. what can i tell you , my pain is back again because there is no siz 7 in womens 990. now im back to square one. this shoe is comfortable and lightweight. thats it. i cant give anything positive bec. i have pain. the sole is foam unlike the 990 it was rubber and had a good support and bounce. this one does not have bounce and not enough space to fit in my orthotic and the back slips a little. the shoe store told me ill get used to it. that actually doesnt bother. the pain does. why cant new balance get themselves togehter and do the 990 again? its made in united states. there is no issue with importing it. i dont understand. and now i dont know what im going to do. i stay on my feet for many hours and im scared im going to have all the pain come back which is starting for the last 4-5 days since i bought these shoes. im really in a bad place. i dont know what ill do. for sure go back to the shoe store to try a different shoe.

I'm not sure what has happened to sneakers these days.... Even the 'ol standby...New Balance. There is not enough padding in the shoe to compensate for what ever structure is included in the sole of the shoe. There are pressure points under my toes, under my arch, under my heel. They look great from the outside, but WHAT is going on in the inside of these shoes...??? I have returned sooo many pairs of sneakers - all brands.

I wanted to love them, but the toe box was too small and rubbed my pinky toe. I tried one size larger but it was too bulky and clunky and didn’t fit my heel.

I really wanted to like this shoe. I ordered the same size that I always wear in New Balance shoes. This pair was very wide in the toe, so wide that my New Balance orthotics that I always use, didn't fit properly. There was extra room on the sides of the orthotics in the toe. The heel felt too roomy also. Just an odd fit, unfortunately I had to return.

I ordered wide and the toe box was beautifully roomy. Support was okay, but the side cut up under my ankle painfully to the point there was no way I could wear this shoe.
