I bought a pair of Kaha Gore-tex boots last summer. I used them to do a one week hiking trip in RMNP Colorado. At the end of the week I had hiked a total of approximately 30 miles on various trails in the park. The boots are by far the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I have a torn meniscus which can be sore sometimes when walking long distances. Minimal to no pain while hiking in these boots. Unfortunately the materials the boots are made of, are not very durable. Biggest issue I had was that the black rubber toe protective cover has already begun peeling away from the boot in several spots. Perhaps a glue issue? I did send the boots back to Hoka and they sent me a new pair, but after another summer of minimal use/hiking this year,, the rubber protective toe cap has again begun peeling off on this pair also.
I have owned several pairs of Asolo boots and never had an issue with boot failure like these Hokas. So while they are very comfortable to wear, they are not very durable. Just something to keep in mind if you are considering these boots. At the price Hoka is charging, this boot should not fail after such little use as described above.

Let me start by saying these boots are fantastic! I'm 5'9", 200 lbs with very wide feet. I have tried more brands / styles of boots than I can count and can never find the right fit and support. I live in Colorado and hike the Rocky Mountains weekly - and boots are by far the most important piece of gear when you're 10 miles up a mountain. I was skeptical of these at first - I like my Hoka running shoes, but this company isn't exactly known for their boots, and they don't make a wide size in this style. The fit is snug, but doesn't squeeze the life out of my feet like some other boots - and this actually provided support from my foot moving around. Plus I just adjusted my lacing to skip a few loops which made it perfect (see pic). I also submerged the boot several times in water and no leaking, the water just rolled off. But the best part of this boot is the comfort. I really noticed it while coming back down the mountain when I would step on a pointed stone and could feel the sole give but couldn't feel the rock on my foot. I came down on my heel more than a few times too hard and again, the sole gave just enough to cushion my foot but not too much. It has the perfect blend of support and cushioning. Plus, it's one piece - there is no heal sticking out which sometimes catches rocks when you're tired and dragging your feet. I didn't role my ankle once either - which I'm prone to do. I took these boots on a 17 mile hike in Rocky Mountain National Park up 2000 feet and back down and my feet felt fine - first time in a long time I can say that. I don't usually give reviews, but these boots performed so well I had too. And I'm buying a second pair! Hope this review helps!

These are the comfiest pair of walking boots that I have ever worn, however after only 3 walks the tread began to come away from the sole of the boot, for the price this is very poor, on contacting Hoka the customer care was very poor almost as if the company was not interested and did not care, very very poor service indeed, I would have had another pair to give them another go but would not touch this product now, poor company, does not care for the customer

After buying a pair of Hoka walking shoes and being very impressed, I wanted to try a pair of hiking boots. I bought the Kaha sight unseen as a preorder. They were very comfortable out of the box. The only thing I was less than pleased with were the two upper snap-hooks. Sure, they hold the laces in place, but were a little hard to lace up and very hard to snap off. They made putting the boots on and taking them off a chore.
The real problem was durability. After three five-night backpacking trips, the rubber toe guard started peeling away on both boots. Worse, the black Vibram sole began tearing off the bottom of the lighter grey rubberized foam. (See photos.) I tried gluing things back together with Gorilla glue, which helped a little, but after the fourth backpacking trip the boots are unusable. In retrospect, these boots probably weren't meant for the type of rugged backpacking I do off trail in remote areas. I can't entirely blame the manufacturer for that.
In short, these boots are nice if you're doing casual hiking on sidewalks or groomed trails, but don't expect them to have an extended life under more challenging conditions.

These boots are, first, comfortable in the tradition of my Bondi running shoes. In other words, they are nearly as good at cushioning your feet as the Bondis, the champs at protecting them from injury or pain from prolonged running or quick walking, yet they are very supportive for the stresses of hiking on uneven ground. And, the Gortex layer keeps your feet warm, ventilated and dry, in snow and the cold wet weather you might encounter in less comfortable climates. I really like these boots a lot; they are just what I was looking for.

I am former a Marine with multiple feet problem and have told by many that I need to purchase Hoka's. As I await patiently for the Bondi 7 to be released, I believe the 6 have some unappealing colors. I went ahead and purchased these in the meantime. These are my first pair of Hoka's and they are great. They are not the Bondi! Since the hoka site said they have the same comfort and stability, I purchased. They are no where near as plush but very stabile. I really wanted the Stinson GTX but zappos did not carry them until now. I only wore them once but I think I will keep them and get the Stinson GTX also to compare. I do recommend them but since they fell short of my expectations. I gave them a 4.

These are the best hiking boots ever right out of the box. Very light and nimble with great strength on slick rock. Able to withstand high temps >100 degrees and still keep your feet comfortable. I love them.

Pros
- Lightweight
- Breathable
- Fit near perfect
- Totally waterproof
- Great traction*
Cons
- Wear down very, very fast. Within 2 months, the tread in the center of the ball of the foot was just about gone. This would only be at an average of 3.5 mi/day, 5 times per week. I've never had the sole of any shoe wear as quickly as these did.
Conclusion: For me, if the outermost layer of the sole were improved to be more durable, with everything else remaining the same, it would be the perfect boot. When considering the cost/pair and the life of the product, I cannot justify another pair. It's too bad because if they were more durable, they would more than justify the cost and be the only boot I buy for the foreseeable future.

This is my eighth of Hoka hiking boots. I put on over a 1,000 miles per pair of boots. After a 1,000 miles, the tread wears down, but I keep them because there's nothing like the comfort of old boots. In the meantime, my new boots with the plush insole, are, as usual, very comfortable and required no time to break in. I'll be wearing them this summer in Glacier NP and on the Tour du Mont Blanc, where the fresh tread on my new boots will come in handy.

I work for the US Border Patrol and needed some boots that could address my feet issues. A buddy recommended them and now I'm doing the same. Trust me, your feet will thank you! I feel like I'm walking on pillows.

I gifted these boots to a friend who has been diagnosed with Charcot. He has experienced newfound comfort, support, and ability to again work on his feet all day with these boots. I hope it continues. Keep up the thoughtful design work to facilitate folks who need this type of help. Your boot is a blessing.

Bought This Shoe For a Trip to to see the Arctic Circle In Alaska. When we arrived it Started snowing, Walked in almost 3 inches of Snow Without any Problems
These Boots kept my feet Nice and warm and Dry..
Very Light, I use the Hoka Bondi for Work and in all those Days walking Around Fairbanks, Alaska,
You Actually Forget you're wearing a Boot, These are Very Very Comfortable to walk in..
We still have to see how long These will Last, Im Using These Boots for Work Now, It can Get Cold In San Francisco Too..
If you're a Little Older Like I am, and Having Problems Bending, Having a Long Shoe Horn would Come In Really Handy..

Just got back from a 5 day backcountry archery elk hunt in southern Colorado while wearing these boots. Averaging between 5-10 miles per day mostly off trail in rugged terrain. Lots of climbing and descending, all while wearing a light load in my hunting pack (~15 lbs). I didn't fill my tag and do a heavy pack out but hiking in and out with camp on my back was about 50 lbs. Boots performed great. I got one small hot spot on the inside of my left foot but some more time in the boots or deeper cupped foot beds would solve that. Almost zero break in time before this hunt. I did several 3-5 mile conditioning hikes around my suburban area before wearing them into the backcountry but they don't really require break in. They fit pretty true to size compared to other Hoka shoes. I have some runners as well and both are size 10.
Hopefully they hold up over the next few months but very happy so far. At the end of this trip my feet, legs, and body felt better than any other hunting trip I've gone on. I'm sold on Hoka. They really feel like nothing else I've ever worn.

I took a 3+mile hike to the 2nd highest peak in the Bob Marshall Complex. The boots performed great. Upon completion of hike, my feet felt great. I was concerned with the light weight of the boot that they would not hold up to the rugged, rocky terrain. To my surprise, it appears that these boots will get my through a years hike and maybe more.
I am pleasantly surprised with the boots overall performance, especially when I have been used to heavy built boots.

I bount a size 9 (my actual foot size in most products) in the blue/grey. Out of the box these hikers fit perfectly. As I have some trouble with toe box width in Hokkaone running shoes, I checked that out first. Plenty of room.
The cushioning is fantsatic for a hiker and the lugs provide great gripping. Some people have said the lacing around the top is funky, too tight or too loose. I found the ankle support was great without it constricting your ankles or being too loose so that your ankles move around. I think this is all personal preference in terms of the feel and grip you want on ankles for the support you need. With waterproof as a plus, I would buy this boot again in a heartbeat.
