I am looking for a closed toe sandal with a wide toe box and good arch support. Keen USED to make this, but they made their toe box much narrower now. This Hoka footbed is just what I want, however the top of the shoe is plastic and the shoe becomes very hot. Please consider a redesign with a material top for a great shoe.

I ordered an 8, which is the size I've worn in Hoka's for as long as I can remember, but I had to size down to a 7.5 for these. I received them today and so far, so good. I love the color, which is the blue, but why are all of the women's shoes duller than the men's shoes? The guys have the best colors. The women? Hit and miss. Anyway, they feel good and I will take them out on the trail this weekend.

I live blocks from Atlantic Ocean but can't walk the beach barefooted due to severe osteoarthritis in my feet (40 yrs nursing). I sacrificed an old pair of Cliftons for this purpose but water & sand made it tough on them. I took advice of other customers who went a half size larger & fit was PERFECT with my inserts. They are sooo comfortable! I can walk to the beach, ON THE BEACH & home again without discomfort. THANK YOU FOR AN AWESOME BEACH SHOE!

These sandals have very good cushioning and arch support, which is why I bought them. However, I was unable to wear them without socks because the hard surface of the sole rubbed on my arch and my pinky toes were also tender. But that’s not the biggest problem. I bought this sandals almost a year ago, in march 2021, but I hardly wore them during the summer. I put them to real test two weeks ago when I took them on my trip to Costa Rica. After just a couple of days the left sandal was torn at the back near the loop for pulling it on. A day later the same happened to the right sandal although I was much more careful with it after tearing the first one. Never happened to me before. I’m extremely disappointed. This is not what I expected from $130 sandals, especially from Hoka.

These shoes are so darn comfortable. I looked for a long time for hiking sandals and took a chance in these. The color is cute, although I admit the styling is kind of Klingon like! If they continue to be as comfortable as they are at first try on, I don’t care. I have problem feet and the toe box is roomy and great for me.

Bought these and the ARKALI for my trip to Havasu Falls in June...if the tribe doesn't cancel. Both my pairs are a size 8 and fit perfectly! No need to size up for me. Still plenty of room for my tootsies! Lol I got these ones to play on the water and the other for the hike in/out. I was a little skeptical of the price tag but they are more than just water shoes. They are also great on the trails!

I have plantar fasciitis as well as arthritis in my big toe, so I need a firm sole and large toe box as well as room for a heel cushion. Leave it to Hoka to make the perfect shoe for my upcoming trip to Hawaii. They are great for hiking as well as cute enough to wear with a casual dress. I would have given the 5 s if they had removable insoles.

I used this sandal as a recovery sandal after hiking 8 miles a day and it hurt my heel so much. I even tried using them as a regular sandal not after recovery and it just hurts my heel not sure why but the rest of the sandal fits well maybe i will try the slides as a recovery see how they work. But they do work great walking through water and dries quickly.

The fit is good, they will be perfect for walking when it’s warm, very comfortable. Style is, I guess the word would be chunky but substantial.. really like them..

I was so excited when I saw Hoka was coming out in a trail sandal. I ordered an 8, which is what I wear in most Hoka shoes (Arahis, Torrents, Challengers, Stinsons, Speedgoats, Kahas, recovery shoes). When I got them, I was really happy to see that I could slide my orthotics right in and no one can see them. The shoes have Hoka's typical cushioning, but I overpronate, so they feel even better to me with the extra support from my orthotics. However, even without the orthotics, the toe box felt really snug, and my big toe was almost up against the front of the shoe. I sent them back and ordered an 8.5, which is what I wear in Gaviotas. These fit great! They are the same cushion and support that I'm used to now from Hokas paired with the open feeling of a sandal. I haven't worn them anywhere yet but am sure they will be perfect for warm weather activities.

These are the best summer shoes I've ever owned - the fit is perfect, the arch and footbed padding is fabulous - and I gave them a workout at the beach - they are excellent water shoes - stable, comfortable, and easy to clean up and dry. The colors are great - and after a couple of weeks of hard wear, I cannot find any flaws with these!

Holy moly - love from the first time I put them on my feet. I sized up a half size based on the other review and perhaps didn't need to but I love the room for my toes. But the most amazing part is the feeling under your soles - I know that these are intended to be responsive but between the perfect arch for me and the wider foot bed, it's like walking on clouds. Love love love!!!

The fit was great, but there just was not enough arch support, And it lacked that great Hoka comfort/cushioning, I was expecting.

As I get older, I realize that I need more support than I used to, although, believe me, I'd love to be wearing flip-flops everyday-I just can't anymore! These are a great alternative, almost hybrid sandal/sneaker that is supportive, comfortable and has a perfect amount of cushion. I enjoy wearing these sockless when I take walks on both the street and in the woods. I usually wear the Bondi 6 size 9, but these fit in the 8.5.

Very comfortable and easy to wear! Finally a sandal that is as comfortable and supportive as the tennis shoes! I have a really bad back and I am always looking for something that I can wear and not feel pain in a few hours!

I am a big fan of Hoka One One and have many of their running shoes and hiking boots and I vary between 8.5 and 9. In these, I ordered the 8.5 and it was perfect. I was pleasantly surprised to feel some decent arch support and great comfort. I have some shoes like these in Keen brand, but these are more athletic and with the thick plush sole, should be great for long walks. Width was bit on the wide side, but I have average feet and I welcomed the roominess without it feeling sloppy. It looks a somewhat big and cumbersome, but I don't care. Great shoe for active summers.

My husband purchased these for me for a trip. At first sight, I thought, I love the colors and style but wow, pretty bulky and with my feet being super narrow they'd be too wide. Trying them on, I immediately felt comfort and righted them and they hugged my narrow feet perfectly. I still thought they looked bulky. My husband reminded me of the purpose he got me them for me, I needed a shoe that will protect my feet, use them in water, walk on sand, walk on-over rocks and on cement (a lot); an all terrain shoe is what I needed for our trip. With that, I wore them for 7 days straight all day and never wore a pair of tennis shoes that I also brought with me. These were just amazingly comfortable and easy to rinse off when I got them dirty, they dried super fast. When walking in sand, I never experienced sand inside or under my toes and that was a good feeling. They have a thick sole so my feet were protected extremely well at all times. Others mentioned their feet got hot, maybe a little of that but not enough to wear I couldn't stand it. I also thought initially I'd need a 5.5 instead of 6 (my regular size), due the width of my feet being narrow but as I mentioned, they tightened up perfectly. If I did get the 5.5 and not 6, my toe on my bigger foot would touch making them uncomfortable. I suggest, go with your true size and if your narrow don't worry, regular width will fit due the tightening capability. I truly am pleased with these, they will go with me on every trip from here on out. Ps, they aren't really bulky once on! I love them so much.

Negatives: Kinda clunky looking. Neoprene uppers are pretty warm. Positives: So many! 1. Padded, cushy footbed and nicely flexible sole. Feels like you’re walking on air! For years I wore Keen Venice H2 sandals. I had at least 8 pairs in varying colors. They were my “go to” shoe for dog training and shows in the warm months. I had to give up wearing them 2 years ago. The footbed was simply too hard for my aging feet and the sole too inflexible. Also, the 11 oz. weight felt super heavy. I’ve been searching for a replacement shoe since then…and now I’ve found it. Strangely, even though these Hokas are 1 oz. heavier they FEEL much lighter. While the neoprene makes these shoes wear warm, they also totally protect my feet from *any* rubbing. The lacing system makes these sandals incredibly adjustable. I’m a huge fan!

I was hoping for a bouncier feel from these. The upper is roomy and fits well with a little adjustment. The toe box is especially roomy, there's no squishing of toes. All inside edges are soft and don't rub. The insole is grippy (obviously for wet wear) but not so much to be irritating during regular wear times. They have a bit of a clunky look, but if comfort and function is more important to you, you'll get over it.

Great for walking and also standing since I am a massage therapist and looking forward to hiking in them in the cooler weather in Arizona. The first pair I ordered was women's size which I had to return because the toebox was a little too narrow on 1 foot, so I exchanged them for men's size and no problem. Also, I would have preferred a smoother feeling insole so I wouldn't have to wear socks, especially in the summer.

I am 64 years old and went on a kayak hiking trip down the Colorado River area. I needed a shoe that would make me FEEL confident by performing super well. I didn't want to slip around in my shoes and also be worried my arches would hurt. These saddles handled it all and I'm so thankful I bought them. My son recommended this brand too me. Told me he could hike all day in them. I needed the assurance in the water and on the trail. These performed better than any past brand I have bought. Thank you.

I love the comfort of the soles on this shoe and I think they will be great for Hiking and canoeing in warmer weather! They have a lot more cushion feel than the keens I've had. They are definitely on the wide side, but works for me and it gives room for swelling feet in the heat. I wish they came in some other colors (like black with pink or white accents, or salmon color, etc), but the blue and white is pretty nice. I usually wear a 6 in the Hoka recovery flip flops, but had to size up 1/2 size in these. They are on the expensive side, and not that stylish, but to me, the comfort is worth it.
I'd also recommend:
Clarks, FitFlop, Skechers
