What a surprise for a wedge-footed person (read, "duck footed")! Boot is lightweight with a nicely rounded toe box with plenty of volume to even accommodate a Sole cork-bottomed insert which I use for more arch support and extra cushioning. I have only recently been back to purchasing Hokas since I found their toeboxes ran too narrow for the front of my foot. Now, more Hoka styles are offered in Wide but those tend to have way too much volume (read, wider feet does NOT equal thicker feet). I need the cush of Hoka these days (even my go-to favorite Brooks Addictions aren't cushy enough). For running shoe versions of Hoka (Bondi and Stinson ATR), I find buying 1/2 size up in the Medium is my happier medium then adding a decent insert (Superfeet, Sole, Curex). I will write again after wearing these somewhere other than inside my home. So far, the best Hoka fit ever! I think for day hiking and dog walking these will be perfect but have some qualms about heavier-duty hiking---that's what my Trango TRK GTX Women's Hiking Shoes are for!

I have been using the Hoka One One Kaha and I love it. Thought I would try this one and now after a hike I am ready to give a fair review. The first thing I noticed, they are plenty wide but tighten up nicely. Lots of plush cushioning and less heel to toe drop than the Kaha, which would be beneficial for those with plantar fasciitis (which I had a few years ago). But other things that I noticed: the grip on this was disappointing compared to the Kaha. Slippery even on dry downhill dusty smooth rocks, I had to adjust my confidence level, and that being said, I can't imagine how slippery they would be on wet surfaces. Would I buy them again? No. I think they will be good for certain situations, but I will stick with my Kaha's for technical and aggressive hiking.

I bought these boots to use on my small farm; I can wear Hoka Stinsons all day without exacerbating my metatarsal pain. That part is great! The lacing system, however, is intensely frustrating. No easy on or off, as the laces must be guided into/out of hooks that are actually a maze some sadist designed. If you don't need to take them on/off frequently you might not experience my vexation.

I hike daily. I tried Keen, Merrell, and Columbia hiking boots/shoes. I have plantar fasciitis, and my feet hurt after every hike. The Stinson boots were comfortable from the moment I put them on. My feet don't hurt at all. The plush sole is comparable to the Bondi 6 shoe. The boots are lightweight and the traction on the bottom is good, no slipping on wet leaves on the trail. The ankle support is great for the tree branch, rocky trails, and beaches I hike in northern Michigan. I would definitely recommend these boots.

Perfect right out of the box on an 8 mile hike! I have had bunion surgery and have metal plates in my feet....and it’s hard to find hiking boots that work. I have tried 6 different brands in the last year and can’t believe i found a brand and style that work! Cushioned, nice and wide (I still bought a half size up despite the recommendations), good adjustment in laces. The rocker sole and footbed cushion makes a huge difference for me....their other styles didn’t work. Maybe the only complaint is black is impractical for showing dirt. But the are amazing and I am now a loyal fan!

These are very comfy but I had problem with the top of the shoe. As I tried them on my first walk, I kept hitting the metal brackets at the end of my stride. I tried loosening the fit, but those brackets still made their presence known. I have several pairs of Hokas including a pair of Kahas, so this was a surprise... but I was trying to save a little bit of money. Back to the more expensive model! I will say these did not leak on that first walk!

I only run in Hoka's; I started with the Clifton now the Bondi. I live outside Chicago and needed a water proof/snow/all terrain running shoe. I needed to be able to run in it, shovel, tread through icy conditions and walk my dogs in the midst of our frigid winters. This shoe is the MOST comfortable shoe that I have EVER put on my foot. And I used to work in a run specialty store where we had access to every (almost) amazing running shoe. I want to wear my Stinsons inside, outside, here, there and everywhere!!!! I'm not kidding, they're amazing. Please buy them. I don't get anything for saying this and I don't work for Hoka One One. I wish I could work for Hoka One One. Sigh. Like I said in my title I want to live in a Stinson. I ordered the size I always run in and it's a perfect fit. I knew it would be b/c I love Hoka One One and when I worked at that run specialty store 1 of the 4 shoes I brought out to customers was always a Hoka. Always. Just buy the dang shoes, you'll be so happy you did!!!

I am a 63 year old woman. I have Norton’s Neuroma, heel Spurs, and arthritis. These boots are a unbelievably comfortable and have enabled me to walk long distances again. I am up to 7.5 miles and hope to walk a marathon some day. My feet feel young again while wearing these boots!

These boots fit great and have reduced ankle and back pain when I hike with my dogs. The notch in the back of the book, at the achilles, is brilliant. These are my first Hoka's and I'm now a big fan!

This a very comfortable boot right out of the box. They are lightweight with a lot of room in the tow box. I can’t wait to wear these on my next hike.

I have a wide forefoot, narrow heel and little cushion on the bottoms of my feet. The Stinsons have changed my world!! This mid boot is so comfortable and a perfect fit. They are also warm. It took me a while to get used to the upper hooks which are different than my other boots. No matter, the comfort of these boots made me order several pair in case they ever stop being made.

I love this brand of shoe for comfort so I wanted a pair for walking this winter. I originally ordered a pair of 6.5 but didn't think there would be enough room for thick socks so I ordered a 1/2 size larger. I cancelled the larger size after I tried the 6.5 with wool socks. I love these shoes as they are cushy like my regular HO KA tennis shoes.

As other reviewers wrote, they do feel like pillows on your feet! They were very comfortable, but a bit too wide. I was surprised because I have wide feet. I never took them outside so I cannot vouch for the slipperiness. The reason I am returning them is because I can't past the visual-they seriously look really big. I had to double check that they were not a man's shoe. Thank you, Zappos, for making ordering and returning a breeze!

I am a mail carrier and walk all day long, every day. I have a bone spur and I get Charlie horses all through my feet due to bone misalignment. I bought these shoes hoping they would help and honestly, it's the best money I've ever spent. These shoes just feel like pillows wrapped around my feet all day long. They are light and so comfy. I love the goretex material since our raingear is made of the same thing. Super durable and my feet never feel wet even when I'm walking through puddles in torrential downpour all day. The arch support in these are amazing as well!!!! I cannot race enough about these shoes. Also these are very wide fit which is perfect for me. My hoes normally bust at the seems when I walk cause not enough room but these have gone strong since day one, no signs of wear and tear yet!

The sole of this boot is as comfortable as I expected. There does seem to be an oddity, however, with each boot which causes me to question whether or not there is a defect. The left seems to cause a minor pain from rubbing at my ankle. That seems to work itself out after about a half hour, or maybe I just get used to it. The right boot seems to have a pressure point at the little toe. This does not seem to exist on the left, and does not go away. I'm going to try them for a little longer, but, at this point, it's really too soon to tell if I can keep them or even recommend them to anyone.

I walk on dirt trails through the woods in Michigan. These shoes are light weight and very comfortable. My feet stay warm and dry. The soles are coming apart in chunks from walking on tree roots or an occasional palm size rock. For close to $200 they shouldn't feel falling apart after one month of 40 degree weather on mostly dirt paths.

I was so excited when my package arrived, but I opened the box and found boots covered with dirt, laces pulled tight to fit someone's feet, and no tags or care cards included. The boots had obviously been worn outside on a dusty trail and then returned by someone. I thought I was buying a new pair of boots and was very disappointed to return them.

I REALLY loved these shoes....until I took a look at the tread after 2 weeks of wear and < 20 miles of hiking on varied terrain (soft trails, rough rocks, packed snow), and I was stunned at the disintegration of the tread. I saw another reviewer return them for the same problem, but was hoping that was a fluke. Seems not to be the case, as when I called a local shop to ask for advice, as soon as I said "Hoka hikers" and "poor tread durability" they immediately knew I was talking about the Stinsons... PROS: incredibly comfortable & dramatically reduced foot fatigue; warm; true to size (and I went down 1/2 size in the Kaha's); roomy toe box; very reliably waterproof CONS: tread was razed after only a couple hikes; holes developed on the sides of the sole; some lugs literally started peeling off; bad traction on anything remotely slick (wet pavement, wet wood deck, ice); compare my photos with the stock pic to see differences These shoes converted me to a Hoka person, and I loved them so much I almost looked past the fact that the craftsmanship is abhorrent until I remembered the price tag. If you're walking on soft trails, these will be fine. If you're looking for a hiking boot, get the Hoka Sky Kahas which are just as comfy and have a trusty Vibram sole.

I had to find a shoe that would support my recently broken foot (multiple serious fractures). I bought this style, wore them all day, and I was 100% sold. The tried and true Hoka reputation was perfect, and I mean perfect. Complete support, walking on air and my bones did not hurt an ounce. This pair is the only shoe I can wear 100% pain free, almost a year post injury. I wa so sold on this shoe, even a day later, that I bought the in-stock second pair. I LOVE these shoes!!!

This is my 2nd pair of these hiking boots. I love them, fit roomy in the toe box, I can actually run in these in fall and winter, although still slip on ice. Perfect rocker in the foot bed. The tread doesn't hold up to aggressive abuse, even regular walking is taking it's toll. But I have no foot pain when wearing these. Well made but needs a longer lasting sole!! Not spongy cushion, but the medium support remains after many miles.

Well worth the wait! I have been searching for my size online for about a month. They are just as awesome as I thought they would be. I am a true size 6 in every shoe and I did not need to go up in this boot or down in size (as they suggested)

Love them. So comfy and soft inside . Tough on the out side , lots of support . Water proof and warm. I live in the mountains in the rocks . They have the support of a lug boot.I like the way they break over on the stride. These are soo great for me. I have plantar factious in one foot and they are great no pain. I can hike for hours. I think they are easy to put on. There is room for thick socks and a big toe box. So happy . Hope they last a long time.
