I've been running on roads and trails for 50 years and have tried many different shoes. I can't think of a pair of trail shoes that has worked better than these. They have the right balance between protection and feel for the trail. Traction is good and the sole does not tend to get jammed with mud. Most importantly, they do not have a tendency to tip sideways and twist your ankle when you land on uneven terrain -- I consider that to be a key element of a good trail shoe, yet so many shoes do that. What surprised me is how easy it is to clean dirt and mud off of them after a run. Really excellent. (My trail runs in these shoes have not been longer than 7 or 8 miles so I cannot speak to how these would work for the ultra crowd.)

The Norvan LD2 is my absolute favourite when it comes to shoes for trailrunning. It's light, extremely durable and comfortably cushioned to run longer distances on all kinds of terrain: road, gravel, rocks, gras, roots ... I pretty much wear this shoe all the time. The Vibram sole has an exceptional grip on wet rock and I even do light scrambling with it. I've run the shoe for distances ranging from 20k to 100k and recently finished the Transalpine Run, using two paris of Norvan LD2. It lasts for about 800k of running, which makes it extremely durable. The EVA mid-sole is super light and the cushioning is great. The only downside I can find is that it's quite wide for my feet (I've a very narrow foot), but when it comes to longer distances, this really pays of, as the feet always feel comfortable.

I bought the black color for office use. Works well with my dress pants and I can now go to work and then run in them or walk after work. No more knee pain very comfortable and well made.

Owned a pair of the version 1 and they were great, but just lacked on the durability front. They seem to have fixed many of the issues with this version, fits great, light and keeps the feet dry - really good product!

I've been using these backpacking all summer and they've been exceptionally comfortable. Used them off trail for days, scrambling over rock and some glacier. Used beyond their intended use, I'm sure. They've been great and holding up well especially considering how light they are. Overall very impressed.

I really love the shoes. They look great and are very comfortable. My only complaint (and this is really minor) but they used to have the black one of these Norvan with the yukon gold, and I guess that's been discontinued. I really liked the black / gold color combo, fwiw. Otherwise these are great!

I bought a pair of these 6 weeks ago and they are amazing. Great around town and also on the trail. Several strangers have come up and asked about them they look so good. I ordered a second pair because I'm so hard on the shoes, I wanted to have a nice pair for around town and a pair I could beat up and not worry about it.

I recently bought these shoes before heading out to Colorado for some hiking, and they did not disappoint. Very comfortable, great grip on rocks, and didn't need any breaking in beforehand. They also kept my feet dry as I hiked through a little bit of snow. Highly recommended for those looking for a comfortable shoe for the trails.

I was apprehensive that I may have an issue with the edge of the lace-eyelet material as I had read others experiencing in some reviews, but it proved to be unfounded in my experience of the shoe. The area in question does actually make itself noticed in one foot, but not the other; and even this is not at all a concern, over the 200 miles plus that I have covered in them over the past months. I wore these for at least 3 weeks before I left the house and it softened/molded them surprisingly well. I have had no issues at all with comfort, but not been on anything over 30 miles yet. Rand is well designed to prevent water ingress in considerable depth of puddle, but I suppose the balance is that it is a moderately sweaty shoe because of that rand. Makes the ideal for cold days Grip is amazing and these will be the show I take for a Cullin traverse, car-to-car. Sizing and width is perfect, not narrow as some say, it just needs time to relax a bit

Ive put about 35 miles and 4k of gain on these in the last few weeks and so far so good. The traction is fantastic and while they are not exactly cushy soft they have enough padding/protection that even on very rocky downhills my feet were totally fine. Like other shoes from Arcteryx i feel like they are a bit bigger than other manufacturers at the same listed size so i do wear slightly thicker socks with these than i do with my Nike Pegasus or Brook's Cascadia's. Otherwise the fit is secure with plenty of room in the footbox. So far there has been literally zero wear/tear on the uppers even though i run in the desert with lots of rocks and cacti that easily leave their marks on other shoes. Overall, they're quick/light shoes with phenomenal grip that lead to confident and fast downhills.

These are my first pair of trail running shoes from Arc'teryx. I usually wear New Balance, Saucony or Brooks. I love Arc'teryx products but never bought shoes from them. Well, this time I was glad I did. I was supposed to travel to Norway in Jan 2020 for a charity run so I had to buy a pair that would adapt to the cold environment and wet terrain. Even though this trip has now been cancelled due to COVID-19, I started wearing Norman LD 2 for my evening runs in Richmond, UK. They are narrow but fits well. Feels good too when running at various paces. I am not a long distance runner. I just run 5k and sometimes 10k if in good mood or for a charity. I have so far run few 5k's past 3 weeks and have had no issue with these shoe. Even in the rain, my feet did not get wet, considering these are not waterproof shoes. My experience so far has been fantastic! I recommend it to outdoor runners..

Have put 60+ miles on these babies. Appreciate the cushioning while maintaining good sense of contact with ground. Big plus for me is the vibram traction confidence which is essential for me. Lace pocket I thought met be a bit of a gimmick but surprised how it prevents lace unravelling. So impressed I purchased the gore tex version. Runs narrow seems to me so wider feet make not work well.

Just bought these and went for a quick 10 mile jog. Was a bit tentative on how big the 'cleats' were as a lot of the areas where I run are a mixture of trails and some tarmac. But these are perfect, enough traction for the off road stuff, and flat enough for the roads. And I was surprised at how much 'bounce' I got off them. Obviously this will wear off, but when I need a replacement trail shoe, I'm coming straight back to these (although I'm predicting these will last some time).

When I got my hands on the Norvan Long Distance (LD)2 stoke was high. Then COVID hit and stoke was low. The urge to get on trial forced me to think outside the box to sustain running and biking shape during the COVID pandemic. Overtime as restrictions lifted and attempting to physically distant myself from other humans. I began to plot running/riding routes as remote as possible that provided max value. Without a break-in period the LD2 handled 20+ mile (or shorter) runs and 30 mile rides without any issues on variable terrain with mixed conditions. Seriously! Any trail condition (but ice) from sea level to 14K feet. Ok a bit about the shoes... Sole construction and make up appear to be a between high/low density foam providing support and responsive performance. The Vibram rubber offers confidant grip, flat 3.5mm lugs are not too aggressive allow for stable application and adaptability. Also, workout well with flat bike peddles whenever a casual ride or out on a run/ride combo. Synthetic upper construction dries out fast, quite durable that's reinforced in high abuse areas with padding in the heel and integrated tongue. Toe box is quite roomie providing sufficient protection keeping my toes nice and happy. For the amount of use and abuse I've put these shoes through they are holding up really well. The shoes clean up nicely whenever out and about in town. All that for 9.2oz! Amazing for a comfortable long distance running shoe. If you looking to go lighter check out the Norvan Superlight (SL) at 6.5oz. I dubbed the Norvan SL as Flight & Light (FL) as they are light and give me trail wings. Just keep in mind SL and LD2 are quite different shoes.

My first run in these was a 22 mile hill grind in the rain and snow. I was blown away at well they performed. Since then I have 50+ miles and plan on using them on a 100 miler. I have yet to find a complaint about this shoe.

Amazingly light and comfortable shoe. I use them primarily for light hiking in mixed snow, slush, mud and rocky terrain. They have been exceptionally functional. No wet feet when used with a gaiter and nothing gets through the shoe itself. I don't trail run but have friends that do and they love the show as well.

Amazing shoe, that I have had the chance already to run through snow and mud and icy city streets with. After the end of the first month pushing them through their first 100-150km so far they are holding up very well. First thing I noticed about these shoes was how sticky the rubber was, not once did i slip running on icy streets on my run commute. when i would step in puddles or slush the shoes dried fairly quickly afterward when i let them hang in my locker. the shoes are very comfortable, no blisters on my runs ranging between 10-20km. Have yet to put them on longer runs but i am excited to see their capability. They are definitely a lot lighter than the first iteration of the norvan ld, without sacrifice cushion which is so helpful when you need to pound out miles run commuting with already weight on your back. My feet don't get to sweaty with these guys on, however it is still fall/spring temps and have yet to see how they are in the summer. One con was with the way i tie my laces to lock in the heel, i found i was not able to use the feature on the tongue that allows you to tuck in the laces and have them stop flopping around. That is however a sacrifice i am more than happy making. Overall amazing comfortable shoe, not the most lightest out there but that's not what its meant to be. Stoked to put it through some trail races.
