I had an original Squamish Hoody and needed to replace it (so many holes and a broken zipper). I posted a question here and based on the answers purchased the newest version (2020). I'm disappointed. But first, some of the good stuff: The Tyono fabric is awesome. Most of the recent Squamish Hoodies have this fabric, but it is definitely an upgrade from the original (Gossamera). The zipper is great (it has the new "stops" to keep it from unzipping and blowing open) and the zipper pull (a rubberized plastic) is better than the old cord zipper pull. A huge improvement is the design of the hem draw cord which keeps the cord tucked up into the jacket and will no longer get snag on carabiners on my harness (thank you ARC'TERYX!). I'm neutral about the new cuff design - they've done away with velcro which simplifies things but removes a lot of adjustability - especially when it comes to getting the jacket on and off over gloves and pushing it up on your forearms. But there are two major changes that I strongly dislike. The first is the cut of the jacket. It is now much more trim - it is actually OK in the body, but it is absolutely too tight in the arms now. The great thing about the Squamish is that it could be worn as a shell over an Atom LT, a Cerium SL, or even a Cerium LT. My default kit for climbing in cold, dry conditions was a Cerium and Squamish. The Squamish could be worn alone when conditions were mild or over the Cerium to protect it when it got really cold. The new cut of the sleeves makes it impossible to put one of these layers on under the jacket - it is just too tight. I don't understand why ARC'TERYX has turned a climbing shell into a running shell. This cut is great with a t-shirt or long-sleeve t-shirt, but anything heavier and it doesn't work. The second change that is a bummer is the pocket is much smaller. This makes stuffing the jacket much more tedious AND you can't put anything else in the pocket when the jacket is stuffed like phone, hat, energy bar. With the older version I climbed with the jacket stuffed and clipped to the back of my harness, and I could also put these items in the pocket while the jacket was stuffed. Now there is no room in the pocket for anything but the jacket itself and it takes extra effort to get the zipper closed on the pocket making the task tedious and slow - something I don't want when climbing. I will grant that the new pocket allows for a more compact package and some will like this, but I hate it.

Very good wind jacket for summer. Extremely lightweight, but impressed with how well this jacket actually perform. Nice slim fit as well. Used it for summer skiing on a glacier and it cut the wind perfect. Mostly used it for hiking and mountain biking. Have tested this jacket in rain. Went for a hour long walk in light rain with this jacket, and it kept me dry. However in more heavy rain this jacket will not hold up.

I've had this jacket for about 6 months now. I find that I wear it all the time when insulation isn't required. Windy, sunny, and light rain. I'm 5'9 180lbs and the large fits great. Highly recommended.

You won't be disappointed with this purchase - especially if you live on the coast! The Squamish Hoody is perfect for fall multi-pitches, hiking or simply commuting to work! I love the protection it provides even though its so light! I've worn this jacket in a rain storm and still stayed dry!

Coming from Denmark and the cold climate in the Nordics I own several Arc'teryx products... I saw the squamish hoody and was like "I need that". Honestly it will probably be my go to jacket in the warmer months of the year and serve as easy to pack jacket, if going somewhere. It should take a few raindrops, but other than that don't expect it to hold out the wet elements. Packs nicely into it's own chestpocket, very nice and simple product. I would wish they made a similar version with Gore-Tex ShakeDry layer on the outside, similar to the GoreWear R7 jackets.

Super light, packable, fabric isn't crispy at all. Wish it had hand pockets, that's my only complaint!

Living in Southern California can be a bit strange, it's chilly (60 F) in the morning but hot during the afternoons (80 F). This jacket do great with the changing conditions and is light enough to be kept in a backpack.

Very happy with the packability of this jacket. For its size and weight it offers great wind and water resistance for short bouts in inclement weather. Super easy to add to any pack or bag.

I bought two of these I loved them so much and then bought one for my mom as a gift! They are literally a must have, great for spring, summer and fall in the mountains! So lightweight and easy to pack. I wish I would have gotten one sooner!

I bought this jacket as a light layer for my runs and hikes. It is so nice to bring along just in case and it fits so well that I'm always a little happy when the weather turns and I need to put it on!

I had heard plenty of rave reviews about the legendary Squamish jacket and needed something lighter than the other standard soft-shells I own. This isn't as breathable for high-output, warm-weather activities above 50 degrees, but it's perfect to protect from sun and wind over 50 degrees if you are slow or not moving much. I use it up to 90 degrees for low-output activities in Red/Timelapse color. As opposed to the Gamma LT, which is a bit rough direct to skin, the Squamish is something I could live in. Insanely comfortable, which adds to its versatility. it IS an excellent piece for high-output activities on very cold days (below 20 degrees) - keeps heat and moisture close to the skin, but vents excess heat/moisture out. I wear it just above my baselayer on super-cold days, with a Proton FL or Practicioner AR over, and the Nuclei SV for belays, and it is perfect. If I were dragging it around rock, I'd go with a burlier shell. And I wouldn't work up a sweat in it in too-warm temps. But for ski touring in the open, all-around sun and wind protection in any temperature, and next to baselayer for ice climbing and touring on very cold days, it is perfect. I find myself wearing this just about all the time around the house and in the office in air conditioning, to keep the bugs away on summer nights walking the dogs or at a campfire, and for cold winter pursuits. It is an essential piece.

At first glance I didn't feel as though I had a good use case for this hoody. After trying it on in store I quickly realized it would be the perfect light layer for summer climbing in the Rockies. Nice and breathable but not delicate, the Squamish is exactly what you want for a packable layer when out on the rocks. I bought a size bigger than normal for extra mobility and tucking into a harness and cant recommend it enough!

This jacket fits in my waist bag, my biking hip belt, and of course in ever pack - it's worth 10000x its weight (because it's so light) in gold. I wasn't confident when I got it that I would use such a light jacket, but it's been the most welcome addition spring/summer/fall adventure kit. So light yet offers so much perfection from the wind and light rain. It breaths well for sweaty movements while protecting me from the uncomfortable elements. Can't say enough great things about it!

This past weekend I was up in Monterey for a MTB festival. I brought this jacket since I was packing light and I could layer it with my Atom SL for wind protection. The temps were anywhere from 45-80 degrees. Sunny/bright with wind gusts kicking up dirt all day. I originally planned to only wear this in the morning or at night (when it was cooler) but I ended up wearing it all weekend! It provided the wind protection I needed, but also was great in the warmer temps without overheating me (providing protection from the sun). By the end of the day it was caked in dirt but all I had to do was shake it out and then wear it to dinner. I'm so glad I picked this jacket up.

I got the Ether color, and it's a lot more transparent than I'd expected. I would've purchased black if I had known. Just wanted to let anyone who's considering the color Ether to know. Either way, the Squamish hoody is absolutely amazing. I'm gonna get the black color once they're restocked.

I ordered small and XS in Mesmer thinking I would keep the one that fit. However I loved the Jacket so much I am keeping the XS for light layering in spring summer and the Small for winter/fall for heavy layering - The length and overall fit was perfect I am 1101bs and 5ft 2" - AND I decided to order another XS in vitality I run/bike commute everywhere so this will be essential for me :) Thank You!!!

Okay seriously, I've owned many comparable pieces of kit over the years but NONE has come close to how great the Squamish Hood is! I originally bought this as an alternative to my Patagonia Houdini jacket that I loved (but didn't breathe). My complaint with the Houdini is/was that after any high output activities, I would be soaking wet underneath. This is where the Squamish Hoody really shines. Not only is it super wind resistant, it is highly breathable. I no longer get wet and cold after a long run. I am so glad I've added the Squamish hoody to my arsenal. It is now my "go to" mountain running jacket.
