Finally got my hands on one of these and so glad I did. It's the best lightweight layer I own. Perfect in a range of temperatures, from 60s down to single digits. Great layer especially if you're moving. I'll layer this on top of an Atom LT jacket and I'm good to go. Awesome stretch and pretty water repellant. Can't wait to put this through Alaskan winter, spring, summer, fall, eat, sleep, etc. I'm 6'3 220lbs and the XL fits perfect.

It's my most used jacket by far. It's light and durable. Packs very small and layers well. Great to wear over a fleece and good balance between wind protection and breathability. Wear it for climbing/alpinism, hikes, mountain biking.. if you reapply DWR frequently it will shed light rain quite well too. Really recommended

It's perfect for everything outside and inside. I have worn this on a cool morning trail run, snowshoe mountain ascent with friends, and out to dinner with family.
The fabric is magical and holds up to all kinds of wear and tear. The biggest problem with this jacket is that it is so cool that our son now wears it at college. He thought that dad's Arc'teryx jacket was the perfect thing to wear back to school this fall. Oh, well, the things we do for our kids!

The Gamma SL Hoody provides an excellent balance between weight, durability, protection, and design and find myself able to use it for a fairly wide range of situations. It is however focused more on spring/summer months but the nice thing is it can also be layered with a midlayer and more underneath to make it even more versatile. For example I often pair it with my Proton LT to provide great protection yet also maintain breathability during light to moderate exercise.

I admit I'm a bit of an Arcteryx fanboy, and this is easily my favorite of the jackets I have. While it seems like perhaps a simple windbreaker, it displays its versatility in many ways.
First, its breathability. Unlike the latest edition of the Squamish, the Gamma SL is fairly breathable. It's not Proton FL levels of breathability, but it's definitely permeable enough to act as a nice outer layer in a wide range of temperatures. I can put this on in the morning at the start of a chilly hike and still have it on by the time I finish without having to take it off in between. In colder temps, I pair this often with my Proton FL to cut the wind, and it does a fantastic job of that. With that combo, I can easily get down into the 30s (Fahrenheit) when active. And it's perfect in the spring and on cooler summer days as an outer layer. The next to skin feel is excellent.
The DWR on this has also impressed me quite a bit. While it won't keep you dry in pouring rain, in extended light rain and drizzle I've been totally fine. And an underappreciated characteristic of the fabric is that it dries quickly once the rain stops. (Incidentally, it also doesn't wrinkle easily, which is fantastic. Even if it's balled up in your bag for a while, just wearing it for 10-15 minutes basically works out all of the wrinkles.)
All in all, this is my most worn Arcteryx piece, which is why I have two of them!

Excellent light layer for summer hikes and day-to-day activities. The zipped pockets are an added bonus. Only wish I had bought x2 of these.

I have had a Gamma SL for seven years now and it continues to go strong. Perfect for skinning uphill in the winter and for taking the windchill out in the summer. Highly recommend.

As a person who runs warm, I wear this year round. It's great in summer AND it's great in winter as a layer. Fit, stretch, and breathability are all great!

This is my go to jacket for spring and summer hiking. Lightweight and stretchy, with a nice next to skin feeling. Blocks wind, but still very breathable. Perfect for fast paced hiking.

I purchased this hoody about a year ago. The material is the perfect weight for cool morning hikes, keeps you warm without overheating. Great for layering on colder days. The hood protects your head from wind and sun. Such a great hoody.

Can't believe after 13 years and over 60 Arc'teryx pieces I'm just now experiencing this Masterpiece. I've had it a month now and have worn it almost everyday. Outside temp dictates what I put under it. A short sleeve Ether shirt or maybe like today, a Delta Ar fleece. Amazingly functional. Really diggin' the Shimizu blue color also.

I absolutely love this softshell. I wear it in cool weather when for climbing/belaying. I like that the material is tough, but it's also not as bulky as the Gamma LT (which I also own and love). I would describe this jacket as essentially functioning as a windbreaker but with a much more abrasion-resistant material. I've also hiked/backpacked with this on and kept the hood on for sun protection at 14,000 ft elevation. It's also great for snow activities since it's durable to take falls on snow/ice while having the DWR to repel water.

Perfectly cuts the wind and light rain to stop me from getting the chills at the beginning of a hike/bike ride, but breathable enough to stop me from sweating profusely once I heat up.

I bought this coat 6 years ago and it is still my goto when I'm outside in fair weather. I really like the formed fit that has a little extra length which being 6'4" is always a struggle to find.

Purchased this as the weather started changing. I do overhead inspections on communication lines, sun up to sun down. This jacket is lightweight enough to pack away in my hydration pack, keeps the wind bit off, and doesn't snag when going through dense woods.

I was looking for a versatile jacket as I didn't want a specific jacket for running, biking, hiking etc. This jacket can do it all. My Gamma LT is an amazing piece as well but was just not quite packable enough for some of my pursuits. The SL is a perfect balance, it is so small and light it easily fits in my trail running pack.
Cuts wind quite well and holds out a steady drizzle of rain.
5'10" 160 lbs 32 waist 37 chest medium is a perfect fit

I bought this recently as I was looking for a lightweight functional item that complimented a "street wear" look. Love it. Perfect fit and cut (for me at least - XL). Good windbreaker. Water resistant enough to deal with a surprise rain shower here and there. Provides no warmth insulation but it's not meant to. I layered it with a merino wool jumper underneath and was fine for a walk circa 3deg c. Looks great. I went for black like Johnny Cash.m

This is my first item of clothing from Arc'teryx and definitely won't be my last, I ordered a large but was slightly to big so reordered a medium that fits perfectly. I'm 5' 9" and average build. The material is stretchy and the quality is really nice and light. I've been going on long walks recently and needed a lightweight jacket to wear over a T-shirt on cold and warmer days and my previous jacket from another well know brand was good But wasn't very breathable. This jacket is exactly what I wanted, light, comfortable and most importantly breathable, its now my go to jacket whenever I go out, and safe to say I'll definitely be buying more Arc'teryx clothing.

I love this jacket. The fit is great, and it works as advertised. It's super lightweight but does a nice job blocking wind and being breathable. The "Sense" color is beautiful and makes for easy wearing both on a hike and in the city.
