I wanted to love these high platform Dr. Martens, but there were several major reasons why I returned them and purchased the Jadon platform boot instead. First, I didn't particularly care for the black boot as much as I thought I would. It just didn't excite me and I already have an original 1460 boot in black from 20 yrs ago. Second, the boot was a half size or more smaller than I normally would buy and was particularly tight in the forefoot. I wear an 8.5 boot in other brands and normally a U.S. 7 women's in Dr. Martens, but this was far too tight to put on. Third, the leather upper, especially in forefoot and toe areas felt extremely stiff and I think it would take a lot more work to break these in than I have had to do in 3 other Dr. Martens I have purchased. Fourth, the boot looked a bit boxier than it appeared in the photos and it just didn't appeal to me. I returned the boot with Zappos' fantastic customer service and then ordered the Dr. Marten Jadon Quad Retro Arcadia. I'm very happy with the Arcadia color and the slightly shorter platform boot style.

I'm super happy with these boots! They're extremely comfortable, sturdy, provide support, and just generally kick ass. I love the platform sole - it has decent grip and make the boots very comfortable to walk in. Breaking them in has been pretty easy; I've only had a little irritation on the backs of my ankles, at the base of the Achilles tendon (it lasted like 3 days). To give you an idea of how high they go (they tops aren't visible in the product video), they fall about 5" above my inside ankle bone. Also, these boots would look awesome with a pair of lace plates put in around the second or third eyelets. The only thing I'd recommend changing if you're going to get these is switching out the laces. I recommend getting a pair of 79" or 84" laces instead of using the ones they come with because, when fully laced up, there's just not enough left to tie them properly (and I have narrow feet and high arches). I went with a pair of flat black 79" laces (DELELE brand) and they've worked great. I also got a pair of 84" Sport28 brand round laces and they worked equally well, I just prefer flat laces with these boots.

Took a while to break in, but they're comfortable after a few days of wear! I figured they'd run small so I rounded up a size bigger than I usually wear and they fit perfectly (I wear women's 9.5, ordered a women's size 10.) The platform is super cool!

I'm loving these boots. I was a little nervous when I first put them on, because the tongue has an unsual fold that seemed a little uncomfortable at first. But it broke in right away, and they are super comfy now. They are so stylish!

FIT— I have 6 (?) pairs of DMs. Usual DM size- 7/uk 5, ordered that in these and they fit fine. COMFORT— Breaking these in are by far the worst. All my other docs, including my white smooth Jadons, were not like this. These are so hard and stuff and painful. They are incredibly heavy and my legs have been sore for days. These rub on the back of my heals and little toes so much, with no bend or give. The usual doc comfort that I’m use to is not in these shoes. Even though these have the side zipper they are really hard to get on and off. Harder than my other Jadons!! I typically find docs super comfortable, even right out of the box, these are not that!! Also I found them pretty hard to lace up. I don’t have very wide feet, ankles, or calves, and I couldn’t lace them to the top, and tie them. The laces need to be longer. These have NO GIVE anywhere. STYLE— BUT despite all that I love them. I will wear them even if my feet hurt. They are so cool! These are SUPER timeless and will ALWAYS be in style!! They are made really well and will hold up for years. I’m hoping the discomfort will pass soon!! **I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE AS YOUR FIRST PAIR OF DOCS***

I usually wear a 7.5 or 8, depending on the brand of shoe. Since there aren’t half sizes for docs, I went for 8. They fit perfectly! I’m 5’1, so I was definitely curious to see what a higher boot (up the calf) would look like on me. I’m still not super used to it, but these boots are sick, either way. The platform is way cool and unlike the older docs I have, these have the side zipper which makes taking them off super easy. I wasn’t looking for incredibly supportive boots, cause docs to me, aren’t the kind of boot I would wear all day, everyday. But they are comfy enough and I’m sure they’ll do fine in the wild.

These are one of my favorite pairs of boots. They’re bamf without being over the top. They’re also very versatile.

Right out the box, i thought they were GINORMOUS!!! Also quite heavy. But it’s got the exact aesthetic that i’ve been searching for! I LOVE it!!!! Finally just went for it. I’m usually a 6.5, but i sized up to a 7 — giving me enough room for thick socks. I’m only 5’1” - i don’t think it’s too much… but then again i do have thicker calves?! Filled in nicely! It’s VERY stiff and i’ve heard (many times over) how hard it is to break into these boots. It’s alright though, i started following people’s tips on how to break into them… i’m definitely making progress!!! Been wearing it around the house & just trying to soften the material, SAFELY! I’m so excited to incorporate this into my fall wardrobe - including dresses! i just love the look!!! Also, you might want to consider getting longer shoelaces!

If you have to patience to get them on and wear them for 2-3 hours inside, you will be pleasantly and abundantly rewarded! Although they were VERY difficult to get on the first and second times, it gets significantly easier thereafter. I never even got one blister or rub mark from these boots...and started getting compliments on them from day one! My two daughters have the Jadon (with the lower shaft) and they did have some rubbing problems at first. But these higher shaft boots are a DREAM to wear!!! I literally hate having to take them off. I feel like I can face anything in these boots. High style...but with complete support and stability. They are very empowering. Really!

These Jadons run half size smaller than the 8 eyelet version so sadly I need to return these. They look fantastic but too tight made my feet numb.

I love these, and these are absolutely beautiful, but as a disabled woman that needs to transfer in and out of a wheelchair they are very heavy on the feet. Maybe somebody who doesn’t have a disability won’t have any trouble, but I did. What a shame they are such such nice boots.

I wanted these so bad. They are made well and they look amazing but they are very heavy and as a wheelchair user that has to transfer in and out and bear weight, they were way too heavy for me. But for someone who is not disabled, they may not have any trouble. And I thought the price was great also. Thank you Zappos for giving us military families a continuous discount.

Boot cuffs are scaled and rough they tear all the tights I wear inside.

I'm a 7.5 or a 38. I purchased the 7/38. These are a bit short. My toes skim the end. The 8/39 were huge. The tongue on the left shoe has a seam that kills my foot. I believe it's a problem in manufacturing because the other boot doesn't have the problem seam. I will be returning for another pair.

Size 7, usually fits me perfect in my Doc Martin but these were so tight that they caused horrible blisters on my heels. Definitely need a size up.
