I bought these shorts to be my 5K and 10K race shorts. I am old school and like a little shorter short. These shorts are great. I like the fact that the split is not all the way to the waist. I ran a virtual 10K and they felt great. No chafing! If these had a gel pocket I would use them for Half Marathon also.

I like the cut and the key pocket in the inside back. I wish the shorter shorts had the same thing.

Very comfortable and light. Barely noticed the shorts pulling at my legs, even when I was sprinting, running uphill, doing leg-lift drills, or otherwise needing a wide range of motion.

great short overall. L size is generous. Slip feature makes running shorts very comfortable.

Great color combination, great fabric feel and drape

I love the mix of old and new. I wish I saw more styles like this with the piping on the edge. It brings back that feeling of being a kid again on a run.

Great shorts! I prefer shorter split shorts and these are comfortable and functional. They run on the large end, so size down if you're on the fence.

Roomy and groovy and doesn't display swampiness (aka crotch and crease sweat).

The height is just perfect for mild to warmer days, the split generous enough for ample unrestricted movement yet doesn't flap up too much like other split shorts sometimes do, and materials are very soft, dry incredibly fast and above all are comfortable. Improvements could be a seamless liner (there is currently stitching in the middle, like in the 5" shorts, yet is mysteriously less noticeable in the longer shorts - but do keep one to permit post run blood flow triggering handstands) and adding a second inside - or perhaps outside pocket. One is enough, choice is better...

Color isn't too bad and helps deflect the vicious rays of the summer sun in the hot Florida weather. Rapid dry. Inner underwear. Nice pocket. Fits to size.

Excellent shorts to run in the Florida heat! Deflects sun and dry quickly. Size is accurate and delivery was fast. Split leg design means that Speedo Mario can fly down the road without any pull or drag!

Brooks quality as always! Love the shorts. Perfect for the casual jog or run. These were designed (assumption) to not hold gel packets, etc., so nothing weighing ya down there. I do miss the 2.5" split shorts though that Brooks used to make.

I love split shorts, and these are so comfortable you almost forget you have them on (and as a veteran of several nude 5Ks, I know what I'm talking about). Great fit and great styling, as usual from Brooks. One caveat - no pockets. I always run with a hydration pack that has plenty of those, though, so lack of pockets is not an issue for me.

Tested these at the gym today and they do feel great, almost invisible after a few miles.. the fit is great at my waist, but the legs are a bit too flappy for my liking. For reference, I do have skinny legs. I'll bulk into these shorts well. Highly recommend them for anyone hitting the pavement next season. Colors are vibrant and eye catching as well.

These are fantastic! Love these for my 3 to 7 mile runs. My ONLY complaint would be the lack of a externally accessible key pocket.

I love these shorts. My only suggestion would be to add a small interior pocket for a key and/or gel. Design is great. Very light and the split makes movement easy.

These are good lightweight shorts. They leave you feeling free and help you air out on hot days. I wear a size 30 waist, and the Small fits perfectly. They are a little too short for me to use regularly, as my thighs chafe a bit on longer runs, something I have to deal with in all my split sports regardless of brand. If you have meatier thighs like me, try the 5-in Sherpa shorts instead to avoid chafing on long distance running. I love the freedom of movement the 3-in split shorts bring, so I'll put these into rotation for gym workouts. Note: there are no pockets. It's not a deal breaker for me, but some people may want a zippier back pocket for keys or whatnot. These shorts don't have pockets though. Great shorts otherwise.

They run a little large, but perform fine. Tend to ride up on my inner thighs and cause chafing if on longer runs.

These are really nice shorts! They look good and feel good and have all of the features I need. My only concern is that they run large. In my 30+ years of running, I've never worn anything but medium in running shorts, but the mediums I bought basically slide down regardless of how tight I cinch the drawstring. I plan to return them and try the small. I definitely recommend sizing down when you purchase the Hightail Split Short.
