These fit true to size. Cute color, but that is about it with the positive comments. Brooks changed the Caldera 4 quite a bit compared to the Caldera 3, which I still wear. The 4's are too big of a sole, reminds me of a Hoka. They are stiffer as well, so doesn't flex as nicely with my foot. It also has a deeper feel around the heel and comes up too high on my ankle bone now. The 3's are less shoe and don't ride so high on my heel. Already ordered the last pair of Caldera 3's from ZAPPOS because these "new and improved" 4's are going back. Brooks also ruined their Pure Flow shoe with the 7 model; the 6 was awesome and they changed it so much for the 7 that I can't wear those either. I get that companies want to tinker and improve their products, but sometimes less change is better. Thanks ZAPPOS for letting me return these; you guys are the BEST!

I want to update my earlier review because I did not leave enough helpful info about fit and comfort. I normally wear an 8.5 medium in most shoes, sometimes an 8 like in Clark’s but in Brooks I am always a 9. I have a low instep, fallen arches, and sensitive feet, and I need good support while running or walking. Brooks have been my favorite shoe for many years. They are worth every penny. I have the Glycerine model for work as I spend long days on my feet and they have been perfect for cushion while standing. I can fit my orthotics in them easily which is a big plus for this brand. I have the Ghost gore-Tex shoe for walking my dog in wet grass or rain and my feet stay perfectly dry. This is the latest model and I am very happy with these. They are wider than normal in the forefoot but that is ok with me as I prefer more room than not enough. They accommodate orthotics as usual but I can wear these without them because they offer pretty good arch support. This shoe runs stiffer in the sole while still having max cushion which is exactly what I need for running because I need the support for my feet and stability that super flexible shoes don’t offer. I own a few pairs of Hokas and they are comfy but I find they are too corrective and a bit too low of a heel to toe drop for my knees. This model is a kind of in between a Hoka and brooks glycerine. I have worn my new Calderas frequently over the last few months and they are holding up well. Thank you Zappos for years of excellent service, I am a loyal customer for that reason.

I have not had a pair of Brooks before. The brand was recommended by a trainer. I wear an 8.5 and have high arches and a wide foot. They are true to size and and are extremely comfortable.
I have only had them a few weeks, but they seem well constructed. They provide a nice cushion and have good traction on the soles. I am running /walking on both pavement and trails. I recommend these!

I very rarely write reviews..for anything! But, I will make an exception in this case! Awesome, awesome shoes! I have a problem with one foot because of a fused joint, so I have to be somewhat picky with my shoes. These go a long way toward fixing my gait, providing great cushioning, and great arch support. I immediately ordered another color in these, and a pair for my husband, who has a few issues too. Did not want to take these off!

I have worn Brooks Cascadia since #5 and love them. I decided to take the shoe finder quiz for fun and it recommended the Caldera 4. They promptly arrived in time for a trip to do some hiking in Colorado. Right our of the box, they were so comfortable. They have quite a bit more of a cushiony feel than the Cascadia and a nice wide toe box for my Flinstone feet. I wore them on hikes ranging from 4 to 9 miles and my feet were comfortable, no rubbing or hot spots. I think I found my new trail shoe!

True to fit size, most comfortable shoe I’ve ever had. If you could walk on a cloud this is how it would feel.
I'd also recommend:

I love this shoe. I have a pair I wear to work and a pair to trail run in. Good cushion and gives me enough room in the toes . I am a neutral runner and wear these at size 8.5. I also run in ghosts and wear a 9 in them.

Extremely comfortable with lots of support. I am so glad I discovered Brooks since I do not want to fall and love the support and the design of the sole for safety.

These shoes have good traction but they make my toes go numb. Both feet. No improvement after 25 miles spread over 3 runs, adjusting laces, etc. I've run in Brooks Pure Grit for many years and love them (no numb toes!), but I didn't like the weird loose heel of the most recent model so I didn't want to buy them again. After those wore out and with no new Pure Grit model available I decided to try the Caldera, because it also has a 4mm mid-sole drop. Really cushiony but even with laces loose (so loose that my foot is sliding uncomfortably around and my shoe fell off once when I tripped on a rock) I'm having trouble with numb toes. I have a high arch so I already know I can't tie my laces tightly or I have this problem.... I think the elastic band across the top of the Caldera is the culprit.

I have worn many other brands, and many other Brooks shoes in the past 12 yrs of serious running. And, this is the 3rd version of Calderas I've had, and the best yet. They are a great hybrid for my road to gravel to rocky muddy trail running. The Caldera 4 just happens to fit my foot perfectly...so, I just bought my 3rd pair of 4s (had 2 of the 3s!) so I don't have to stress right away when the series changes.

Shoe runs true to size. Plenty of toe box room, great shock absorb and support. I run a lot on gravel and dirt and this shoe does a great job at keeping my foot stable while running on soft surfaces

LOVE the calderas - bought a second pair after i ran my first into the ground. Really comfortable and bigger toe box which is great. Also I think theyre a lot cuter than other trail shoes - if you get the right colors :)

I'm not a runner, but wanted a good shoe for walking. I have wide, flat feet and usually wear New Balance.
I was looking for something more stylish and a little more fun that wasn't grandmotherly or clunky but still had great support. I love Brooks' process for assessing where you have pain, what your issues are, etc. And I love this shoe! Lightweight. Excellent arch support. The sole grips both wet and dry surfaces beautifully. I can't believe I haven't discovered Brooks before. Brooks will be my go-to now!

Great comfortable shoe. I started having a lot of shin pain on both legs and after getting these shoes my shin pain seems to be getting less and less. Love the color. I love the questionnaire in order to find my perfect shoe.

Primary use: I am a walker, not a runner. My knees can't take running. I'd been wearing Glycerin style Brooks for about five years - and they are great. But I decided that maybe trail shoes might offer more support. I just returned from one of my hour-long fast-paced walks - I aim for at least four week - and feel the difference in my knees. I love these and am glad I took a chance.

Absolutely love these. They give me the support I need on rocky terrain or the wet road. Or dry! My new favorite running shoes. I feel like I'm running on clouds

Springy, lightweight, weather resistant, and a perfect fit. Bought these for bad weather days. Since I've discovered Brooks I haven't purchased another brand.

These are the first Brooks shoes that I purchased (usually Nike). I needed a more cushioned shoe for older knees and and arthritic ankle. I am a 62 years old walker, not a runner, and go on both pavement and dirt trails. After several walks, I am very happy with how the shoes fit and the cushiony feel. No heel slippage or uncomfortable pressure points. The toe box is wider than the Nikes I have had, which is more comfortable for me due to a bunion on one foot. It did take me a few walks to get used to the feel of the feel of the cushiony sole; I felt kind of wobbly initially. My dress shoe size is 7 and I always purchase a 7.5 in athletic shoes; no difference for the Brooks. I will definitely purchase another pair of this shoe in the future.

I also owned the Caldera 3, and I like the 4 much better. The increased cushion (that doesn't feel "mushy," ) and the rounded toe box, forefoot area make it a great trail running shoe for me. The heel and instep are sufficiently snug, there is a low heel to toe drop, and the toe area has more space. It's perfect.
The only thing I don't like is the color. I got the bluish color, but it's almost grey-lavender. As I recall, none of the color options were that appealing to me.

I just recently started a fitness program. When I started jogging the trails behind my house I was having major issues with my ankles to the point I would have to take days off and ice my ankles constantly. A friend and PT recommended trying Brooks, so I did. I am so happy to report I have absolutely no issues with ankle pain since I've started wearing these! Unbelievable difference!
