It is with a heavy heart that I proceed to trash the hell out of this shoe. I have been happily wearing New Balance athletic shoes since 1975. I even used to buy the 411. Corners are being cut here to save money, probably using cheaper than ever "slave labor" in Asia. I am definitely a AA width, always have been. I bought the 9 AA which is my normal shoe size. However, the shoe was WAY to big: the toebox was absurdly large, (high and wide), and my heel slipped, even with my custom-made orthotics inserted. Even worse than that are the super skinny, thin, scandalously cheap, crappy, annoying shoelaces and which arrived with knots already in them, (thank you very much!!). which I cannot even remove! These laces should be illegal. What happened to the common NORMAL weight and width laces of the past? At least the shoe width was fine - the one good aspect of the fit. So, I then purchased the 411 in the 8.5 AA size and this pair was too small!! Too short. The width was fine though. The support in both shoe sizes is bad, but since I always use my orthotics, I am always o.k. Anyway, here is the mystery: how on earth can the 8.5 AA be too small, and the 9 AA be too large? This is INSANE!! I can only assume that the standards of New Balance have fallen drastically over the years, and especially recently. Even cheaper labor, for great corporate profits? I am afraid to buy another New Balance shoe! Buyer beware!!!

I have a wide foot, neuroma, and problem w great toe on my L foot. This is the ONLY show I can comfortably wear for any length of time. I like the arch support, which I find seriously lacking in other athletic shoes. I’ve been wearing them for several years and just ordered two more pairs. I’ve tried them all...this is the one for me!!!

I was disappointed with this shoe as it felt too light weight and flimsy, with not much support. I returned them.

Dear Zappos, I'm currently have a problem with a hammer toe. Thank you soooo much for carrying such a wide variety of shoes! These are wonderful and so comfortable, with the deep toe box. I've also had lots of luck with some Clarks and Crocs! Sorry about the returns, which were shoes that didn't fit properly with my foot problem!
Back to these New Balance shoes. They are so cute and don't look "orthopedic." I just love them and am looking forward to wearing them to the gym!

The shoes were a little tight for a wide, especially when I have to put orthodontic supports. Shoe laces were not long enough and flimsy

I should have known- "too good to be true"... I wear an 11 wide in New Balance most of the time. Thought I would try this sky blue, because of the sale and the nice color. The shoe arrived with a tiny brown spot on the toe of one, leading me to believe it had probably been tried and rejected previously. The shoe just felt overall very cheap. It was literally narrower than some of my old regular width shoes! This New Balance shoe is a hard pass.

I am so excited to have my narrow size again! Please increase your narrow offerings; there are many of us who cannot find narrow shoes.

I have difficulty finding shoes to fit because I have a wide toe and narrow heel. I hope New Balance continues this 411 style, because it is one of the few I've found that fit my feet very well. Another feature that makes the shoe fit better is the extra eyelets so it can be laced tighter around the heel. The only complaint I have is that the shoelaces supplied are not long enough, and I had to buy another set.

My podiatrist recommended NB shoes for plantar fasciitis. I am in my mid 60s and have never felt such excruciating discomfort in both feet. I was ready to cut them off! I found these and received them in two days. I really love to try my shoes on before I purchase them as I hate to go through return processes. These were fantastic in fit and comfort right out of the box. I have already placed an order for an additional two pair. The toe box is perfect. I like room to wiggle my toes. I ordered the “D” width. There is no slippage in the heel. And this might be a minor thing to most people but I hate shoe laces that won’t stay tied so I have always double knotted them which is unsightly to say the least. I LOVE the laces on these shoes. They stay tied!!!! There is a cute gray center thread that seems to help keep them tied.

I have been wearing the New Balance 411 for several years now. The latest pair has a different insert and the toe design has changed a little. I had to return them and asked for a half size larger. The replacement pair fits perfectly and I love the 411's again.

I am petite with very narrow heals. New Balance is the only shoe or sneaker I can wear. Too bad this style is being discontinued because it was the only one that fit me well.

We ordered a narrow shoe. The box was labeled "narrow" on the sticker and then "wide" on the box. The tongue on the shoe stated that the size was narrow (or a 2A), but then the shoe had a tag hanging on it saying "wide." It clearly was a wide shoe. Looks like quality control!

I, as well as my entire family, have been wearing nothing but New Balance shoes for the last 15-20 years. However these shoes are my third attempt at replacing my worn out NB tennis shoes that were discontinued. In the past that would not have been a problem as I could easily have found another NB style that would suffice. However I have noticed a definite decline in the quality of NB athletic shoes, they seem to be made with inferior materials and the fit is off. This shoe looks so cute on the page and I love the color, but in person it looks cheaply made and seems a full size smaller in both length and width than my older NB shoes. I (literally) cannot even slide my foot into it. I have been having this problem with NB for a couple of years now, I think I must have returned about 5 pair in all. In the past NB always fit perfectly right out of the box, no breaking in required. The shoes are too short and too narrow, the size W now resembles a normal width shoe, in fact they are slightly more narrow than some normal width shoes I have in the same length. Even though Zappos is quite accommodating about returns, I'm just tired of having to return shoes and I am looking for a replacement brand for my (formerly) much loved New Balance sneakers.

I usually order a size wide 7.5, New Balance 623 in white, but couldn’t find those, so thought I’d try this one. It fits exactly like the 623 and I LOVE the blue color. I volunteer at a dog shelter and need to wear close toed, comfortable, supportive shoes. New Balance, 7.5 wide shoes ALWAYS “fit the bill.” I’m a fit and active 72 year old with a mild bunion on one foot and this brand and size really work for me. I’ve bought at least five pair from Zappos.

I live, and walk a lot, in NYC. I prefer wearing these non-fabric sneakers all winter long. They keep my feet warmer. I’ve worn this particular NB sneaker on and off for years. They’re comfortable, on my feet, that is. However, I don’t like the wimpy thin laces that, in the last years, have replaced the sturdier laces that used to come with this sneaker.

I have acquired substantial foot injuries and shoes that are comfortable are difficult to find. I went a half size up to allow room my toes that are often bruised…very good support, I don’t feel like my feet are sliding sideways like other shoes that are cloth (running shoes)

this shoe lives up to the quality New Balance customers expect. unlike some of the newer styles that may be flimsier, the 411 shoe is sturdy and well-made. plain white is a strong accent for any outfit.

Was so glad that the sneakers fit my narrow heel and slender foot. Felt they could use a little more cushioning, but overall happy with them.

I love these shoes but with my winter socks they feel a little short in the size I normally buy.
My brand is usually Nike. The medium width feels just right.
Despite this, found my daily dog walk around our hilly little city to be very pleasant in the New Balance shoes. I did substitute my own orthotic to improve the arch and to mitigate my Morton’s neuroma. The insole that comes with the shoe doesn’t provide enough support for my specific foot conditions.

Like the shoe but the only problem was the insole. Usually new balance has removable insoles but this one was not. So no orthotic use. Had to return it so I liked it otherwise

everything about this sneaker was fabulous. I have a difficult time with sneakers. my only disappointment was that my 7 month old lab found the shoe very very appealing as well; thusly the pair needs to be replaced and as soon as the white/white comes back into stock. .....

New Balance 11 fit perfectly and are very comfortable. I needed a good pair of walking shoes and these shoes fit the need. I wear insole support in my shoes and the New Balance shoe fits well enough for the support orthotics, I would buy them again.
