Fits like a glove which combines the right amount of support with overall comfort needed in a light hiking shoe. Very ninja like as they are quite flexible out of the box.

My toes rubbed the front of the shoe, was not like the other Merrill shoes I own.

The soles have a 'blocky' pattern which puts excessive pressure in my opinion on mid forefoot. Uncomfortable. Had to return 3 pairs with same defect.

Seemed like normal Merrell shoes, but my normal 11.5 had my toes touching the inside of the shoe.

Great shoes, I really appreciate the fact I can order in wide. I have put many miles on these shoes , both trail and street and they barely show any use. The only drawback I've found with Merrill shoes is that the shoelace outer sheath tends to come apart after about two years of use. They are still useable but I usually just replace them.

I can confidently review these Yokota 2’s as they are replacing an exact same pair, both in style iteration and color, that have served me well. My last pair of Yokota 2’s lasted me for 5 years with no issues, and are still in relatively good condition, providing superb fit, comfort, styling, and durability. Sadly, with everyday use they are starting to show their age. Such was my appreciation for this shoe, both in looks and comfort, that when I found the exact same iteration on sale I snapped it up, despite having recently purchased a new pair of the Moab 3 (more on that to come). Over the years I’ve used the Yokota for light day hiking, but it’s use has been primarily as an every day shoe for around the house gardening and carpentry, as well as errand running. Regarding fit, the Yokota 2’s are true to size. Since I recently purchased a new pair of Moab 3’s as well, I’ll compare the two. The Yokota length is just a bit less than the Moab 3, though I wear size 11 medium in both. Pressing on the tip of the shoe over the big toe, the Yokota is 1/8” shorter in toe room than the Moab, marginal at most. The toebox is marginally narrower in the Yokota as well. I wear a medium width shoe. The Yokota fits me well in this regard, as does the Moab. I find the Yokota to be very comfortable for street wear. Looks wise, the Yokota could be described as presenting a slimmer profile with a more agile look than the Moab 3. This is due to a narrower toe profile and a more closely contoured sole, which protrudes less on the sides of the shoe than the Moab. Both styles have an equally solid toe cap and heel protection. Comfort wise, both are superb on my foot for all day wear. The Yokota will serve well as a light day hiker, and many reviews back this up. For my needs, this shoe is the perfect blend of style and ruggedness that I prefer for my everyday style. With the Moab also now in my possession I can say that for it as well. As they say, variety is the spice of life, and both styles will see good use. I would be hard pressed to choose between the two.

These shoes were great and I hate Merrell has, at least for the time being, discontinued this series. I have and have continued to have foot issues as I've grown older and these were comfortable right out box. I'm very picky now regarding shoes and these were my go-to.

Solid shoe. They're one of my favorites. Well made. A bit small. I usually wear a 9.5, a 10 would of been better.

Like all my Merrell shoes (Moab, Yakutia, Moc, Jungle, Slide, boots) they are the most comfortable shoes I own, fit, arch, toe box and fortunately I rarely need to wear dress shoes.
I'd also recommend:
Teva, some Sherry, old style Bass

I was looking for a shoe that didn't have stiching against the back of the heel as the last pair of new shoes I bought did and brought 3 miles of a blood filled shoe worth of pain along with it. When I found these I had try them out. Putting them on in the store felt like God's hands holding my feet in the perfect position with just the right pressure. I walked around in the store with them for a bit, tried different sizes and ended up walking out the store purchasing 2 pair. A grey for everyday and a tan set for hiking. I love them. They're so supportive and comfy. My blister from the previous shoe still hadn't healed when I found these and I had been wearing a band aid over it. Well no need to wear a band aid. The shoe doesn't slide on your heal there's not stiching to rub on your heal even if it did. I just did 11 miles with no band aid and was even doing some short running towards the end with a 30lb backpack and still recouperating from dislocated knee caps. Please don't change these or discontinue them. If they ever wear out I'll buy another set instantly.

I have had a number of Merrell shoes in the past and have always enjoyed them. My only complaint has been that they take a while to break in. My feet are a bit wide so for some brands I buy a wide width. this is the first pair of Merrell shoes I tried the wide and it makes a huge difference. I now know for the future to go with the wide. if you have even a slightly wide foot I would recommend going to the wide size. it makes a huge difference

Normally wear D width but got wide to give toes room to spread out some like barefoot running shoe and this was perfect. Roomy toebox. Laces cinch down nicely to keep ankle in place. I have another pair in this brand in D width and the toe area was a little on the narrow side especially if you have any problems with ingrown toenails. Excellent traction on muddy hiking trails and wet pavement. Very comfortable to wear all day right out of the box.

I need a wide shoe and this shoe fits perfectly and is quite comfortable. I was looking for a shoe that had more cover over the top of the toe area and the Yokota 2 has it. However, I would like to see the Merrell folks cover the entire top over the toe area of the Moab Ventilator and keep it wide. That would be an awesome hiking shoe.

Walked 6 miles of NC beaches in them. 3rd pair of this brand. They fit a little snug, my size other brands had room in toe, this shoe fits like glove but not bad sizing for hiking.
