Bought for a 4yo who plays outside in the PNW rain or shine and needed a good fall/winter season shoe that would keep his feet dry when the ground is wet but not necessarily raining. It's just wet here all the time in the winter and needed a tennis shoe to stand up to the moistness of it all. Color and style are great. Love the Plae brand. If you have bought Plae before you will note that these are much stiffer than their standard tennis shoes...because of the water resistant fabric and thickness...but still way more flexible than any rubber or rain boot/shoe (i.e. bogs or merrell). I feel they run about 0.5 size big...but maybe I'm wrong there. IDK. Very happy with the shoes - the fact that a picky 4yo wears them daily is a major plus.

I read the other reviews for these shoes & decided not to buy them due to the potential comfort issues, but then forgot & ordered them anyway. My preschooler loves the colors and that they are waterproof. He had been wearing Plae shoes & it was time to size up. We noticed that he does wear a half size larger in Plae shoes than See Kai Run brand that he also tried on, but otherwise the sizing seems consistent with other brands we tried. They are pretty stiff. The first day my kid came home and cried because his feet were hurting. We weren't sure it was the shoes, though, and he did wear them for PE that day (which was probably a bad idea for brand new shoes), so I tried to bend them a bunch with my hands to break them in & we sent him to school with them again the next day. It's been almost a week now & so far, no more crying about his feet - but they are definitely less comfortable than his non-waterproof shoes, especially for basketball class or other activities like that. He still loves the idea of not having to wear rain boots to school some days (& he seems much less likely to trip and fall on his face than when he's running in rain boots), so we will keep these through the winter & see how they go. We may need to get a different pair for sports, though.

I really love the style and color of these shoes (bought both colors), but unlike the regular PLAE shoes, these are incredibly stiff with rough edges and "pokey" points all over. Wish they worked as I was looking for a waterproof shoe that is not a winter boot/shoe. I purchased for both of my children and both complained about comfort. I have one child that shoe complaints are usually expected but the other who almost never complains.

Runs a bit large. But these are the MOST durable, well made shoes I’ve ever purchased.

Both of my kids wear Plae shoes. I bought these in their current sizes and the next 1/2 size up to try on. Keeping the 1/2 size up for one kid (no comfort issues so far). The stiffer fabric and the closed tongue (for waterproofing) did not work with my other kid's SMOs.

Very cool kids shoes. Didn’t work for my son with wide feet, wish they came in wides. Good structure of shoes.
