Shoes are a little on the wide side (only negative for me). Will be purchasing another pair as a secondary as the Provision's did not work out.

I have issues with repeated shin splints and pronation and have been trying to find the right shoe. I went from Brooks > Hoka > Altra Torin and these are by far my favorite. I love the cushioning. I am still adjusting to the zero drop but once I do I cannot imagine doing a different shoe.

These are the first road runners that I've loved so much, I wear on dirt or gravel trail wherever I can as well on paved trails. The cushioning is perfect for me. They are not responsive enough for technical trails though. They fit true to size. I had originally tried a size up based on other's comments but had to size back down.
All the regular Altra benefits (fits my narrow heel and wider in the toes to allow for toe socks). They fit snuggly and I love the tabs in the lacing. It allows me to lace it tightly in some spots, and not in others, so the fit is perfect all the way through.
My only issue is the internal web thing by your arch. It can rub a bit and caused a blister on my instep until I changed socks.

These were the winners in my long, long search after foot surgery. They will accommodate my custom orthotics. They are built with space for the toes and lots of cushion, plus they didn't put any pressure on the sensitive parts of my feet. I live in these now. Wish they came in better colors. I typically wear a 7.5-8 wide and I took a 7.5 in these, but if an 8 were available when I needed them I would have probably gone up a size. I love Altras and I always order from Zappos now (not Altra) because the shipping and returns are so easy! (Not at all the case with Altra direct.)

These shoe were exactly what I was looking for. A zero drop for walking/jogging. I wear a size 8, bought a size 8 and they fit perfect. I have normal feet. Real nice cushion and an ample toe box. NOTE: these are zero drop from heel to toe which is what I look for in a high mileage shoe. Glad I found Altra.

Just got Torin 4's after a couple hundred miles in 3.0 and 3.5's. Torins were my first Altras and the shift to zero drop took me some time to build up strength but it was worth it. The shoes feel good and I have fewer blisters and toenail issues than I used to due to the wide toe box. So far these look better (IMO) and feel comfier in the midfoot than the older models. Looking forward to running up some miles in these.

My saga to find a good athletic shoe for mostly walking has lasted more than a year now, but I'm optimistic the Torin 4 will solve it for awhile. I've had 4 pairs of Altra's over 3 years. All had some good points and I used 2 of the pairs until they wore out. But none of those 3 were PERFECT. I then switched to a pair of Xero minimalist shoes, thinking that might resolve some issues I had but instead, it made things worse. So, I read a bunch of reviews and went back to Altra.
I've been walking 2-4 miles a day in these Torin 4s for about a week now. They feel great on the bottoms of my feet - the cushioning is just what I needed. The toe box is also great - I have just barely wide feet - sometimes I need the W size and sometimes I don't depending on the shoe and the toe box accommodates my foot well. No issues in the heel - my foot stays put.
The one issue I had with all my other pairs of Altras is that they don't fit identically on each foot: something rubs on one that doesn't on the other, or there is a weird lump or dip in one insole that isn't in the other. So far, the arch on my right foot is a little sore after a long walk compared to my left, but I'm not ready to say it's the Altras just yet - I think it might be a nagging pain leftover from the minimalist pair. So I guess this is a cautiously optimistic thumbs up for these shoes. They definitely solved my primary issues and hopefully won't introduce others.

I LOVE this shoe. Perfect fit and cushioning. I now have 2 pairs of the non plush version. I've worn them in races and for training! I find the shoes ties are long, but I triple knot it so they aren't flopping everywhere. Great job Altra!!!

Love these! My new running shoe. These are replacing my Nike Pegasus 35s. I had 800 miles on my 35s, ordered a pair of 36s and didn’t like them. I tried a a few other Nikes and several Altras. I have very narrow feet and these still fit fine. Like others have said about zero drop, my legs are sore after running in them for the first few times, but I will adjust. Because I like them so much, I have ordered another pair.

I have arthritis, and had an osteotomy with bone spur removal 7 months ago. Unfortunately though my joint feels better I have some complications with my sesamoids. Finding shoes that fit and don't irritate my foot has proven next to impossible. In a desperate visit to the last shoe store in town I found Altra Torin 4's. The only shoe we tried that worked. I was so excited to feel the Torin 4's on my feet I wore them out of the store. The zero lift keeps the pressure off of your toes and the ball of your foot, and the softer foot bed makes my toe and sesamoids more comfortable, which is exactly what I needed. The only thing I wish is that they would have is arch support. However it seems with arch support comes a harder sole, so I'll pass on that and take the zero lift thank you. I came back and bought the other two colors. Soooo happy to have some relief.
I also tried the Olympus 3.5 and the Torin 4 plush version before ordering more standard Torin 4's. The Olympus 3.5 works pretty well, the plush Torin 4 sadly did not. Is is too tight across the top of my foot which made me sad. It's like they forgot to add more space to accommodate the added "plush." Still, very happy to have any shoes that feel good.
Sizing, I usually wear 9's In most shoes. In Altra's I wear a 9.5.

I am no longer a runner after back surgery. However I developed tendonitis on the outside of my right foot. Nothing gave me relief except my cast boot ......which was a real drag after 3 months. I started PT and was instructed to find another shoe since all my shoes were painful. I am an RN and do lots of standing. As soon as I put this shoe on I knew it was for me. Its construction is good for those of us who are developing arthritis. The zero incline in the makeup of the sole was what saved me. Thank you!

the 3.5s were an utter disaster. I had blisters in places I never hurt, and they wore out entirely too fast. But Altra got their ducks in a row with the 4s. Soft feel, comfortable fit, at not a blister one. I have two pair of the 4s, and I'm happily breaking in pair 2 for a race this coming weekend. The first 4s I bought - I was delighted. Quickly from a 4miler to a 21miler, and the spring-back in the stack? Self-propelled shoes.
Torin fan sad about the 3s and 3.5s? Please come back, the 4s are ready for you.

I have been reaching for the Torin model when it's time to run road miles since the Torin 2, and the problem for me has always been the pair's lifespan. I could squeeze 300 miles out of them before the bottoms turned slick and worn out. With the 4, the addition of stronger rubber on the bottom vs. the foamy midsole garbage that used to cover most of the shoe (looking at you, 3.5), I am able to run a solid 400-450 before retiring them. This is so important for me as a grad student with little $ who runs about 55-65 miles a week on road. I love the fit and feel so much underfoot that I keep coming back to this model, but now I don't feel like I'm throwing so much money away. For context, I use the shoe for all road miles during the week, switching to the Superior or Lone Peak on weekends in the woods for those long runs during my ultrarunning training. Love my flat bois

The Torin 4 is my first Altra running shoe. I am really enjoying running in these. What I love about the Torin 4 is that I am already comfortable with low drop shoes, so going to zero drop was an easy transition. Also, the level of cushioning in the Torin is just what I needed for longer runs. If I'm out running and not thinking about my feet, that's a good thing. Also, I'm finding the width to be fine. I like that the mid-sole hugs my foot without putting pressure on the tops of my arches. The heel hugs my foot, as well, no slipping. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the Altra Torin 4.

I bought this with advice from Altra. My days of running are over and so now I tend to do a good bit of walking and wanted to know what they would recommend as a walking shoe for city concrete. This shoe is very comfortable, enough cushioning to keep my hips and back out of pain. Bonus, I've limited big toe movement and this shoe helped me to roll my foot in the right position so i could push off without pain. I'm a fan.

I ordered a half-size smaller than normal and they fit perfectly! This is my 2nd pair of Torins 4, wouldn't buy any other style when these fit perfectly. I have no slipped or fallen in 3 years of wearing Torins! Yahoo!

If you have foot discomfort, this is the shoe for you. They are very roomy in the toe box with good cushioning, and are very lightweight. They may feel a bit strange when you first try Altra sneakers, but, in my experience, they are the only sneaker I can wear and have comfortable feet all day. I recommend them totally. I have also purchased Altra hiking boots in the past, and they too are my favorites because of the comfort and support.

I do a lot of running on pavement each week (about 4-8 miles 3x/week) and 2-3 faster miles on the treadmill as part of Orangetheory Fitness workouts 2-3 times per week. These shoes are SO comfortable, so light, and they have made me excited to run again! They weren't the best for HIIT in OTF workouts (is sprinting and weightlifting) but they're great for longer runs on the treads and they are AMAZING and durable on pavement! shoes! I have been running for over 19 years and it's hard to find a shoe as well made and conceptually thoughtful as Altra. I'm a believer!! I love the wide toe box and shaped heel. I'm usually size 8-8.5, wear 8s in the Escalantes. I ordered 8.5 in these and they are a little big for sprints (I can feel my foot sliding a little) but fit great for longer runs. I ordered another pair in 8 for my faster runs. Can't wait!!

Unlike some other reviews here, the Torin 3.0 was perfect for me! I have foot issues, it was the only running shoe I could find that was virtually pain-free. On a salesperson recommendation, I tried Torin 4 plush and it didn't work--too inflexible. Then I got the Torin 4.0 and phew!! It has all the qualities I liked about Torin 3.0. So if you liked 3.0, this is the shoe for you!

I was so sad when the Torin 3 came out. I felt like you ruined it. You have redeemed yourself with the 4. I can't say enough about this shoe. I am a regular runner and I hope you never ever stop making the Torin! So comfortable. Just perfect!! Would love to see not so many dark color options.

I am so very happy! I have not worn the Torin since the 2.0 release and I have definitely missed it. The 3.0 release was absolutely not my cup of tea. I felt like that shoe lost its cush, the ride felt heavy/clunky and was not fluid - it was just not a fun shoe to run in. My mother has used the 2.0 and 2.5 for her walking shoes. For the last year we've been savvy internet hunters trying to find them for her. Like me, she skipped the 3.0 versions because they just didn't cut the mustard. When she announced that she had purchased the 4.0 and was in love with them, I had to try on her brand new pair. I liked them so much that she GAVE them to me! I enjoyed them immediately and even raced in them two days later at a trail Turkey Trot. They fit perfectly in my normal running shoes size of 8.5 - no heel slippage, great toe box room, hugs the arch of my foot. This new version has terrific, springy, responsive cushion and works just as great down at 6:45 race pace as it does as 9:00 recovery pace. I have no idea how this shoe does it, but I truly love it! I have many shoes my shoe stable that I tend to rotate through - quite a few Hokas (Carbon X, Rincon, Clifton OG), a pair of Newton Gravity and two pairs of Nike Vaporfly 4%... and it's THIS new Torin 4.0 is the shoe that I keep reaching for, training day after training day! Way to go, Altra!
