Super comfortable right out of the box. Good looking and yet manage through snow and sleet. Have been looking for a long time for a comfortable, flexible, work shoe type boot in which I can walk the dog, do chores and yet look reasonably well dressed even in jeans. These boots are those shoes. Recommend.

This is my first Danner shoe and, wow, I love it. The style first caught my eye, but it's the comfort level and support that makes this Chukka a keeper. The toe box is slightly wide, great ankle support and reasonable arch support. Bottom seemed a bit stiff initially, but that disappeared after wearing short time. The stability, when walking, prevents my foot from rolling inward as it frequently does since a severe car accident. Because I have arthritis in my hands, the easy to tie and untie is greatly appreciated. Ordered two sizes as wasn't sure how Danners would fit, but my usual size was ok with my medium weight socks. Thanks Zappos for being so great!

I would have enjoyed keeping these chukkas, but the top of the shoe caught just under my ankle bones and was painful. I do have bowed legs so maybe a person with straight legs wouldn't have an issue. They are very cute - maybe worth a try for you!

Not only cute, but the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I have flat feet and plantar fasciitis so this is a very big deal to me, haha. I wore these for a week straight and my feet didn’t hurt at all!

I am a size 6 or 6.5 and in this shoe, a size 6 fit me just fine. The 6.5 would have probably been ok with thick socks but that pair made noise when I walked that sounded like crinkling plastic! Thankfully the smaller pair did not make that noise. They are really comfortable, light, and have been great to hike in. I think they are just slightly wide. My foot is a normal width.

I gave it 3 stars only because of the waterproofing layer, the mid layer is very noisy. It's as though they use cellophane plastic and it makes this crinkly noise when you move. I thought for the price why not use a gore-tex like material for water resistance. Beautiful boots except for the middle layer. Also, I loved the fit and foot shape/feel of this boot except they are very wide in the mid foot. Please Danner work on the materials used in the middle layer and the width issues for women. Thank you!

Design Flaw: the manufacturer used a plastic material inside the sides of the boot, presumably to ensure waterproofness where there are air holes (?), but it sounds like a crinkly plastic bag every time you step or move your foot. The boot is so perfect in every other way-- I really can't believe this passed the designers or testers, it is actually laughable, completely useless footwear...of course unless you want to sound like you are wearing plastic bags on your feet.

If you need a lightweight, waterproof hiking boot with no break-in time right out the box, this is it. A note on sizing, I initially tried on a half size larger, thinking they should be sized like running shoes and that is not the case for these. Take your normal size. The toe box is generous which will accommodate any swelling your foot may have on long or multi-day hikes. I did not have the noise problems others have mentioned. For reference, I got the brown/red in an 8 1/2.

These boots are awesome! I originally bought the chaco leather boots because they looked nice and are for hiking but they hurt the back of my heels sooooo bad! Then I tried the Vasque boots but the sole was so slippery on rocks and the boot didn't have much bend which I don't like. The Danner boots fit so nice, are easy to put on and soft on the entire foot. I hiked in them for about 2 miles and had no issues at all. They say they are waterproof but I haven't been in the rain yet although I'll be taking them to Colorado in December and I can test them out in the snow. Overall they are very cozy, look cute and the grip is great! I highly recommend these.

These chukkas were exactly what I was looking for. They look and feel amazing. They are much lighter than you would expect by looking at them, which means I can wear them all day (which I have). They are on the wide side so I had to size down 1/2 size (I’m a normal 7.5). They fit perfect.

Perfect. Feel like the most comfortable shoes straight from the box. I go between a 9 1/2 and 10 but usually wear a 10 and the 9 1/2 fit perfect. Nice support in the footbed.

In some shoes I can wear a 6.5 (Vasque) others 7.5(Ugg) so with these I ordered a 7 and crossed my fingers. They fit great and are super comfortable! What convinced me to go with this brand was a previous review saying the women suffered from plantars fasciatis(sp) and flat feet (me too!) and that these shoes worked for her. So I have to agree and they look great to boot! srry about pun. I'm very happy just hope they last.

I really liked the look, feel and support of this shoe. It was a bit too short for my foot. I would have loved to exchanged for the next size up, but that size was not available.

The fit was unusual. The left boot seemed to fit okay. The right boot seemed stiff and hard to walk in. If they have arch support, I couldn't feel it. They seemed wide, which would be good if you have to wear thick socks. The boots crinkle and make noise.

I wanted to love these Danner boots because they are really good looking. But two things caused me to send them back. One: as other reviewers have noted, there was a very loud crinkly noise of the waterproof layer. It was really loud to the touch (while putting them on) although not as loud when walking (I could still faintly hear that plastic crinkling sound though). Two: There was a weird bump that dipped down from the roof of the shoe (on the inside) that pressed painfully on my big toe nail. I ordered two sizes of these boots, and that bump existed on all of the shoes. However, it only really bothered my left foot, so I tried cutting that toe nail really short to see if it would help, but no dice. My right foot was happy but my left foot was in pain, so sadly, I had to return them. As for sizing, I generally wear an 8 in regular shoes but 8.5 in hiking boots and sneakers. The 8.5 were the right size for me.

I have small ankles they had a lot of space around my ankles and appeared bulky. I have a high arch and there was no arch support. These may work great for someone else.

Buy these while on sale!!! First, the style and colors are classic, not too trendy. These boots are very comfortable: light, cushy, good arch support. I wear these for casual everyday wear, but they'd work for walking/hiking as well.

I agree comfortable right out of the box. Love this suede little boot! I am between 8 and 8-1/2 and the 8 fits perfectly with light socks. Definitely a keeper!

Very comfortable out of the box with mid-weight socks. Water repellant but not water proof - my feet got a little wet walking through puddles. Good traction in mud.

I usually wear an 8.5 or a 9 when it comes to hiking boots and running shoes but tried an 8.5 and it was still a little larger than I would like. There is fabulous support for those with high arches and they are super comfy. The only issue is that my ankles don't feel like they would be getting enough support. But other than that, I highly recommend these. And I am picky when it comes to shoes/boots.

I was skeptical of the fit and comfort because I have never had a hiker that didn’t require serious break in time. These are absolutely perfect, no break in required - my feet actually felt better after wearing them for a couple hours! Light weight, easy on and off, plenty of room in the toe box, perfect tread for trails or just running errands in snowy/slushy/wet conditions. These boots are completely waterproof and warm (even in the unlined version). They are replacing my ultra uncomfortable/painful Sorel duck boots (and maybe my North Face snow boots too, they are that comfortable and versatile!). Plus, they have a rugged yet feminine style that pairs well with skinny jeans (or boot cuts) and flannels/sweaters/hoodies.

Comfortable right out of the box. Had them on all day and my feet didn’t complain at all. Can be used with regular socks. Do not require heavy socks. Plenty warm and fit fine. Have been in rain but not serious water to test waterproof capability. Feet stayed dry. Can’t ask for more. Order normal size and width.

Excellent hiking boot. True to size even with a thick sock. Amazing waterproof technology and luckily no squeaking as the other reviews stated. The warmth of the shoe plus the waterproof aspect was the selling point.
