I received these boots the day before a snow and ice storm and was excited to try them out. They kept my feet comfortably warm and dry in 25° weather while shoveling snow and walking around town. The Arctic Grip is the real deal. Shoveling snow sitting on top of solid ice and I felt as though the concrete was dry underneath and didn’t slip once. They’re that good! My concern is how long will this grip last? As the sole wears down will it lose all of that wonderful grip? I really hope not, or these will just be a warm and dry stylish winter boot, but with the Arctic Grip sole they’re the perfect boot, minus one thing... The side zip is useless for me as I still have to untie the boots to take them off. The boot is extremely easy to put on and take off without utilizing this zipper and I would have much preferred Danner left this design off the boot and just had a normal side wall without a zipper. There is also a small flap of fabric behind the zipper to help with waterproofing in that area that can be a little annoying and will be noticeable rubbing after awhile if wearing thinner socks. I ordered my normal size and fit is pretty tts, but the toe box feels a little narrow when I wear anything thicker than athletic socks. If I were in store I would have wanted to try the wide version or next half size up side by side to see if it would have helped, but Zappos was very limited on sizes and that option wasn’t available to me so I’m hoping these will stretch a little over time and allow my toes some more room to wiggle.
