This is a good shoe for super-casual wear and walking. The arch support is not enough for me, so I had put in my own orthotics. I think Merrell should improve its arch support for shoes like this.

These are good looking even though the toe box is pretty wide but there is no support at all (unusual for Merrell) and my heels hurt after only a few hours of wear. Additionally the leather feels almost plastic-y. :(

I purchased these shoes because I have a job that has me on my feet for a minimum of six hours at a time. My feet are killing me, and my existing shoes are proving to be useless. Merrell to the rescue! I love these shoes. The length is true to my usual size. They do feel a bit wide, but not to the point that my feet are flopping around in the shoe. There is plenty of room for my orthotic. The shoes are light and so incredibly comfortable that I didn’t think about my feet or back for a good portion of the day.

I like the shoe. Only small complaint is it’s stiff right under my ankle bone. After a few hours I had to switch out to different shoes. I am hoping this softens up quickly. They are lightweight and not clunky. I will update this review if it softens up.

These are very comfortable, I was able to walk four miles in them the first day with minimal stiffness. They were easy to break in. Very good shape for wider feet like mine. Wide, but not wide enough to need special shoe size.

Unfortunately this shoe did not accommodate my high arc/instep, so I had to return it. Otherwise it's a nice looking shoe and it would probably be quite comfortable for most people.

So, I should have listened to previous reviewers....the shoe runs about a half size small. I generally wear a 9.5 or 10 and thought I should just go with the 10. In the house it felt fine...but, no, once I started wearing it all day, I could feel my toes at the end of the shoe. Don't be a fool like me and get the wrong size. Order a half size up. I am doing so today because the shoe is very comfortable and I am on my feet all day.

Wore these right out of box and were comfortable. The leather appears like it will only soften with wear. Expect they will be my "go to" shoes this fall and winter.

I have owned several versions of the Merrell Encore slide. My favorites were a boiled wool version in red (wish they would bring that one back!). This time I opted to try the full shoe version in the Dassie style. My actual rating of the shoe overall is a 4 1/2 - I really like the style but there are a couple of negatives that keep it from a full 5 stars for me. I ordered my normal size 8 and it fits well. It is fairly comfortable out of the box although it does seem a bit tight across the bridge of my foot and there is some creasing at the top of the foot where the shoe flexes. I anticipate this will loosen up with wear. The fit around the heel is also a bit loose, causing my heel to slide slightly as I walk; that and the design make it seem almost like a clog rather than a shoe. The other minor negative is the quality of the leather, which as another reviewer mentioned seems almost plastic-y. The tobacco color is also a bit odd, a bit lighter and not as rich as shown in the picture, and not as shiny (maybe I should try polishing them?). But overall I have been very happy with Merrell, and I like the subtle stitch detailing on the sides and the overall design of the shoe. I like them although I can see how they might not work for someone else.

I have several Merrell shoes and all of them are size 9 and fit fine. So, initially, I ordered these in a 9. They fit perfectly except that my toes were at the very end of the shoe and being a diabetic, I had to order a 9 1/2 which was okay. However, except for the length, the 9 actually felt better. They are a very light-weight and comfortable shoe. I love Merrell shoes.

These are so comfortable. The day I bought them, I went on a 3-mile walk in them and had no pain from breaking them in. They are so cute too. Really comfy, and good for wider feet,

It was a funny fit, so its going back. Seemed very comfortable, and the length and width were good, but it had an ugly gape closer to the ankle. Very strange. Going back.

Love Merrell shoes but these do not fit same as other Merrell sizes.

I like Merrell shoes and would have kept them if they had felt as other Merrells I own. However, I actually thought they may have been a shoe for men when I first put them on. Nice looking and practical but they must return. Getting disappointed in trying to find shoes of a certain brand and finding them to be mismarked, or at least not like previous shoes of the same brand.

Fit and size were good. Looking for comfortable business casual shoes to wear to work, where I am not on my feet much except when walking to and from the parking garage, and the occasional lunchtime stretch outside. Since these shoes are Merrills I trust that they will remain comfortable and wear well. The style is plainer than appears in the photo -- the lines over the top of the foot are just flat stitching. I expected them to dress the shoes up a little more than they do. Still deciding whether to keep them.

These were weirdly loose in the heel and above my arch. Not sure how to explain it, but no matter how many different socks/inserts I wore with them, I couldn't get the fit right--they were either too tight or too loose. Another Merrell fail for me, which is surprising since I wore another version of this shoe out after five years of almost constant use.
