I was SO excited to see a new Birkenstock boot with zippers rather than pull-on AND available in Regular size (so much awesome is released in Narrow which I can't wear) that I bought both colors immediately despite the price. Hoped to replace two pairs of a super comfortable style no longer available (not sure of name as I cannot find that order) that I've worn into the ground. Unfortunately, while these boots fit just fine in the foot, the ankle surround is super stiff and rubs terribly on my leg, unlike the soft leather of the boots I already have. So I'm sending both pairs back with a super sad face because I really, REALLY wanted these to work.

True to size, loved the little boot with the side zipper.. But, sad to say, I had to return. The boots rubbed around the ankle and leg, so that would make for a boot that was not comfortable. Really wanted them to work, sad to say they did not.

Unfortunately, these just weren't comfortable for me. I've found their "Regular" width shoes to have great toe room for me in other styles, like the London, but these were less accommodating. The leather and fabric inner is really stiff. Yes, it could soften, but I'm not sure by enough. The ankles are stiff against your leg. The insole is great as usual. I think these could be really nice with socks for those with narrow toe boxes.

AFTER TWO DAYS OF WEARING THEM MY ANKLES WERE SORE FROM THE MATERIAL RUBBING AGAINST THEM. I DON'T RECOMMEND THEM, I REGRET BUYING THEM, THEY ARE PAINFUL AND MY POCKETBOOK IS HURTING TOO.

These are comfortable the snugness around the ankle others have spoken of is true when you first put them on, but the suede loosens quickly after after wearing them. All Birkenstock’s require break-in wear. I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I really wish they made these with the anatomically correct original footbed rather than the removable one, but I like them so much I purchased the black ones too.

They fit great, the stiffness of the suede goes away with wearing them. All Birkenstock’s have a break in time. The only thing that could make them better is having the original footbed rather than the removable one. I did purchase another pair in another color because I like them and they are comfortable.

Another painful experience with Birkenstock shoes, I wear the sandals all the time & have happy feet in them but the shoes are another story. The leather is like cardboard, I would have to hire someone to break them in. Also the sole is not the same as the sandals- no toe grip. Disappointed in Birkenstock.

These looked potentially really clunky and gnome-like in the photos but in person they're CUTE. I wanted the black color but my size was sold out so I got Tea. In person it's a light brown, kind of like a hay color. Next to darker brown shoes it makes them look reddish. I'm a 40 narrow in Birkenstock sandals and these in a 40 fit great, with thin socks they feel maybe 1/2 size too big. They're very pricey though. Even with a few discounts, I'm still not 100% sure I'm keeping them. If I do, I'm spraying them with leather/suede protector before I wear them ANYWHERE. The soles are pretty comfy, but seem way bendier than regular Birkenstocks. I hope they'll hold up.

Originally ordered size 40 and they were a little too long for me so I reordered the 39 in black and they are perfect! I don’t know why these ran a little long for me because I always wear a 40 in Birkenstock’s! They are very comfortable and I have no problems with them rubbing on my ankle like some others did although I was hesitant to order based on those reviews. So it goes to show you can’t always bare your decisions on them!

I was concerned about fit, especially tight around the ankles from other reviews, but I love these. They fit nicely. Slightly stiff but are breaking in well. I bought a similar pair last year that became my winter go-to boots and these will be this year's pair. Thrilled. They had to be broken in (maybe for a few days) - but well worth it. And they look great.

I wish they were offered in the narrow size but I'll wear thicker socks. Felt a little stiff during first wearing but like all Birkenstock shoes they were great by the third wearing. Would recommend them to friends.

These are comfortable! The only thing is after wearing these shopping on a snowy day the suede looked worn more than I thought it should for the price. Other than that I love them.

I ordered one size larger to accommodate boot socks and they are perfect. And, thank you Zappos for offering these in regular width! There is a breaking-in period, as with other Birkenstocks. Unlike other reviewers, I do not experience any rubbing of the boot lining on my ankles and legs. I’m very pleased with this boot.

I bought a pair of smooth leather Birkenstock boots last year which have turned out to be the most comfortable boots my bunion ridden feet have ever worn. This year, I needed a black pair, but was disappointed that my choices were limited. Birkenstock’s aren’t exactly cute, but the comfort tends to make up for it. The arch support is very good. My issue with these is that the heels slide up and down, something I generally have trouble with since I have narrow heels. My right foot bigger than my left, but the right slides the most. Maybe somebody with a bigger foot tried them on before me and stretched it? Anyway...the shoe rubs on the inside edge/side of my heel. I’m trying to decide if I should keep them and hope I get used to them because they are comfortable otherwise. With my luck, I’ll just rub blisters.

Ordered my size an 8 - 8.5 (39), and my foot was swimming in the boot. So went down a size to the 7 - 7.5 (38) and theyre still too big. The foot bed on the shoes sure doesn't match up with the bottom of my foot. Size-wise, they look like work boots instead of casual everyday boots. I want to order smaller but am pretty sure that if I do that, I won't be able to get my foot into the meager opening.

I returned these. I feel they run a little big. They are very heavy and just felt clumpy on my feet. I didn’t like the wide round toe look - it made me feel like my feet looked giant. Not the most comfortable although I only wore them around the house for a few minutes.

These boots are amazing! The color isn't right for me, but dang, they feel supportive and cozy and generally awesome.

LOVE THESE BOOTS! Great style and very comfortable. Normally wear a 7 but with Birks I wear a 6-6.5/37. Still have plenty of room for a comfy sock. No issue with ankle rubbing or pain!

love these!!! recently had my toe crushed and the orthopedist recommended birkies for their support... picked these out and they're super comfy and super cute!!!

It's fitting bit long on me. I had to return due to new info. that I need more support for my ankle.

I originally ordered my regular size 40 but had to return for a 39-a first for me! Like another reviewer, my feet were swimming in my regular size. The boot is probably closer to being a half size too large but Birkenstock’s doesn’t offer a half size smaller. I wear these boots with thinner socks. I like the style for an everyday running about boot. Good quality and nice looking.
